Expansion could of been an idea. From 30 teams to 40, giving Quebec and Hartford their teams at the same time 7 new teams. Think about that. Places like Las Vegas, Baltimore, Milwaukee, Atlanta, Seattle, etc could be part of it. Help me think of 4 others (BESIDES Hamilton, i think Canada has enough teams (I added Quebec, don't rip on me).)
The NHL will not let any other team move to Canada. The only new Canadian teams will be from expansion. But, I do live in Atlanta, and to he completely honest, people forget we even have a hockey team sometimes. The only thing that matters here is the braves and falcons....well the hawks too but there fan base is definitely iffy. The thrashers will be missed by some if moved, but 85% of Atlanta sports fans won't give a damn..most will forget about it in a week.

This team is steadily on the rise and our new owner is investing everything into this franchise. Also, we got Steve Yzerman and he is determined to make this team a consistant contender. I would say either Phoenix or Atlanta will move. Probably the Yotes though since Atl is a bigger market, but you never know.

I'm not sure where you get your numbers from, but 13,469 is the average attendance of a Thrashers HOME games. The road games average is 16,681. They get more support when they're were not in their own arena. So, they're average will be beat considering that's the amount of season tickets that have been sold in Winnipeg.

Not that they show a crowd of "14,000" people and the arena is BARE.

@81creations Tampa Bay couldn't even sell out playoff games, so the fact that they have 21,000 seat is irrelevant, because most of them are empty. Atlanta had the same problem as Winnipeg back when they moved. And that is there was no local investors willing to put up the money to keep the team there. I feel for the REAL Thrasher fans cause I know what it's like to lose a team. I am from Winnipeg and am extremely happy we have our team back.

I'm not sure where you get your numbers from, but 13,469 is the average attendance of a Thrashers HOME games. The road games average is 16,681. They get more support when they're were not in their own arena. So, they're average will be beat considering that's the amount of season tickets that have been sold in Winnipeg.

That is not the actual attendance to these games, where as when the Winnipeg Arena is sold out... those FANS (people who actually paid for the ticket at its full price and not receiving the ticket as some free promotion with their McHappy Meals like people in Phoenix) will actually PHYSICALLY be sitting in those seats. Not that they show a crowd of "14,000" people and the arena is BARE.

I bought a Flames Jersey for $75 - the Flames price was $725!!!!!! So Atlanta Hockey, Inc made TONS of money - but the Flames went bankrupt - and moved to Calgary!!!! Today - a Thrashers game (for 2) will cost you about $300 PER GAME!!!
