  • It is a bit like they singing We off to see the Wizard The Wonderful Wizard of Oz I would think?

  • For anyone looking for this movie. I bought this and Dot and the Kangaroo on Amazon awhile back.

  • @Rage1776 me too, I've also got the soundtrack on vinyl, just need to transfer it onto cd someday! :)

  • Die, die die Die DIE coca cola.

  • My excuse would be solely to see the performance by Mr. Bernard Cribbins in the role of Ginger from "Sir Digby Chicken Caesar".

To me, "High Cockalorum" means a rooster's harem getting stoned.

  • Same as the rest of you songs that you can remember 30years on is mad loved this as a kid and have been looking for it for years I'm sure I could sit and watch it now . And I'm glad I'm not the only one that's seen it lol

  • This is one of those stories that only the seventies could do justice to! I remember it having quite a heavy and surreal atmosphere. But none the worse for that. Back when they gave kids more credit. It may be me but one ambiguous line I'm sure I remember is near the end, when the lobster shouts hi-cocolorum or something and the campy Kenneth Williams-esque sea horse questions it. When he receives an answer he goes 'Oh right...I thought it was rude!' What exactly did he think he heard?

  • Did anyone else think this song was something they made up in their head when they were a kid...?

  • @LiltedLullaby i know EXACTLY what you mean!!! i definitely did!

  • High Cockalorum!!!!

For some reason, we had a VHS recording of this in my childhood, and it was played over, and over, and over and over.... among other odd, unheard of, old movies/cartoons.

  • This whole movie is just trippy as shit. It's one part bargain-basement animation and three parts straight acid.

  • THERE NEEDS TO BE A DUBSTEP REMIX FOR THIS SONG

  • I'm watching this on Netflix Instant Watch tonight, brings back so many childhood memories...

  • My family and I watched this last night for the first time in around 15 years, such a fun story, fun songs, I'm impressed I still remember the words and tunes!

  • 3 people grew up without the magic of this movie.

  • Piclay up the Lum!

  • Did he say free beer?

  • I used to sing this all the time after watching this on HBO in the late 70's.

  • @marioTmaggot

I remember watching this movie back then, but could never remember the name.

  • I have been looking for this movie since I saw the first and only time Ever when I was 5 years old, the only thing I always remembered was this song :-o :-)

and few months ago I found the title and the dvd thanx to it... :-)

my sisters son is crazy about this move, love how these things can be passed down a generation :-p

  • The only part of that stupid movie I have the misfortune of remembering after 30 years. XD

  • any1 remember a film about the same era called (seamus) about a young boy that finds a pot of gold and meets a leprechaun????.......seamus rooney

  • @steve4140 Try THE GNOME MOBILE - a Disney film from the 1960s that was still being shown in cinemas in the 1980s.

  • @MegaAlfies I'm From the UT, USA thank you very much.

  • This movie crossed my mind for some reason. I loved it as a child as well. This and Watership down. Both have deep sociopolitical undertones, but no one has a clue to those ideas as a kindergardener. A subliminal message for when we are adults perhaps?

  • -tripping out-

  • sweet childhood :)

  • Seems like this film has been almost forgotten about, I had this on tape as a kid on watched it religiously. Looking back on it the animation is a bit shoddy, the budget must have been small. Great film anyway.

  • Cockalorum = one who brags about himself, arrogant person, boastful person

    (babylon translation)

  • There is no actual meaning to High Cockalorum, its your enterpretation, like hakuna mattata, from the lion king.

  • hakuna mattata means no worries for the rest of your days! lol.

  • Always loved this movie :) took me ages to find it on the internet, it's so rare these days a good old film like this

And once in a long while I would say "Aye Cockalorum" and no one would get it. I am so entirely glad to have finally figured it out! I'm so excited to see it again...

  • thank you so much for this! the memory of this movie had vexed me for so long now. I would have flashes in my memory of this film but for the life of me couldn't remember anything concrete about it or what it was called. I search google for an hour and the name water babies caught my eye and triggered my memory. Then, low and behold, a simple search on the name "water babies" produced your video! thank you for bringing back a cherished childhood memory for me.

  • omg i searched for this on s fluke haha its mad how much old childhood films can bring back!! this is ace :P

  • Ta for posting this, my sister and I watcd this all the time when we were little. My favourite was always the Swordfish bloke! This and "Dot & the Red Kangaroo" brings back so many memories! Cheers!

That woman who played loads of different characters (mother of the Kray brothers in the movie, and also in Hot Fuzz) scared the hell outta me! Such a cool film though, seen it on ebay and gonna buy it, just got to! Ha ha!
