Same as the rest of you songs that you can remember 30years on is mad loved this as a kid and have been looking for it for years I'm sure I could sit and watch it now . And I'm glad I'm not the only one that's seen it lol
This is one of those stories that only the seventies could do justice to! I remember it having quite a heavy and surreal atmosphere. But none the worse for that. Back when they gave kids more credit. It may be me but one ambiguous line I'm sure I remember is near the end, when the lobster shouts hi-cocolorum or something and the campy Kenneth Williams-esque sea horse questions it. When he receives an answer he goes 'Oh right...I thought it was rude!' What exactly did he think he heard?
For some reason, we had a VHS recording of this in my childhood, and it was played over, and over, and over and over.... among other odd, unheard of, old movies/cartoons.
My family and I watched this last night for the first time in around 15 years, such a fun story, fun songs, I'm impressed I still remember the words and tunes!
I have been looking for this movie since I saw the first and only time Ever when I was 5 years old, the only thing I always remembered was this song :-o :-)
and few months ago I found the title and the dvd thanx to it... :-)
my sisters son is crazy about this move, love how these things can be passed down a generation :-p
I tried downloading it today and have the faintest clue were on my pc it was sent i saw this movie more than 30 years ago and i couldn't remember the flick but never forgot this song trying to get it for my kids it was great brought back incredible memories.
Just to remind you all that this movie is a Polish-English co-production. The animated part was produced in SMF Warsaw, Poland. Remember watching it in Poland when I was 5, magical memories.
Oh, memories....in the early 80's my teacher dad used to borrow the schools VCR for the holidays, and he always rented this or "Pete's Dragon" for me and my brother. It was like clockwork, irrespective of whether we wanted to watch Star Wars or Jaws...
Been talking about this movie to all my friends, trying to tell them about the movie and how magical it is - so glad it's out there - where can I buy it on line?
Iam 39 now and remember going to watch the lord of the rings animation version it was a double bill and this film was on first I loved it and then seen it on tv years later it's a classic think I'll buy it on DVD god it must have been about 30 years ago when I seen this aswell time sure does fly
OMG, can you pleeeeeeease put on more clips of this?!?!!!!!! I really want to hear the water babies singing part. It's soo cute!♥ I'm 14 now (almost 15) and the last time I saw it was when I was 4 and my mom borrowed it from the libtary and I still remember the name and this song and the water babies singing and I also remember the begining when he's crawling threw the chimney and falls into the girl's room and I remember that part so well because her room was sooo pretty!
I've actUally heard that exscuse being used in Manchester Arndale Centre at one of those stalls that sell the remote control helicopters and run by eastern europeans. Even been buzzed by one!
I used to make my parents rent this video all the time when I was a kid in the 80's! I haven't seen this or heard this song in over 20 years!! I never forgot the song, too funny!
Well don't forget, the original book was published 150 years ago, either way it was probably really watered down since his boss most likely wouldn't want toshare his beer that much
does anyone know the reasons why that strange woman keeps reoccuring in the film. she doesnt say or do anything and its quite weird. i think she was the old lady the nurse and the gypsy or something. i cant really remember. :S
I was so young when I watched this movie with my brother but I remember it was our favorite. Strange to see it again after almost 30 years. Doesn't the beggining start out with the little boy & girl in real life & they jump into the water & become animated?

And once in a long while I would say "Aye Cockalorum" and no one would get it. I am so entirely glad to have finally figured it out! I'm so excited to see it again...
i used to love this film. disney films were great then kids wantin pies and free beer and who could forget scots wayhey and hogmanay lol the water babies should be back out on dvd!! 'mon the water babies!
thank you so much for this! the memory of this movie had vexed me for so long now. I would have flashes in my memory of this film but for the life of me couldn't remember anything concrete about it or what it was called. I search google for an hour and the name water babies caught my eye and triggered my memory. Then, low and behold, a simple search on the name "water babies" produced your video! thank you for bringing back a cherished childhood memory for me.
Ta for posting this, my sister and I watcd this all the time when we were little. My favourite was always the Swordfish bloke! This and "Dot & the Red Kangaroo" brings back so many memories! Cheers!
thank you for mentioning dot and the kangaroo. that brought back another memory for me and i searched on youtube and found the whole thing. i think that movie made me feel sadness for the first time as a toddler about 26 years ago. isn't it amazing how memories stay dormant for so long in one's mind and just a small thing can trigger them. thanks again for metioning that film. great memories!
hehehe its so reasuring to no im not alone by thinking this was ....sorry is a great movie.....i really did love it when i was a kid....now im 33 but really want my kids to see it......so i'll be the one out bidding u on ebay.....so cool!!!
I remember loving this film and being scared shitless by it all at the same time. That woman who played loads of different characters (mother of the Kray brothers in the movie, and also in Hot Fuzz) scared the hell outta me! Such a cool film though, seen it on ebay and gonna buy it, just got to! Ha ha!
It is a bit like they singing We off to see the Wizard The Wonderful Wizard of Oz I would think?

thank you so much for this! the memory of this movie had vexed me for so long now.

I remember loving this film and being scared shitless by it all at the same time. That woman who played loads of different characters (mother of the Kray brothers in the movie, and also in Hot Fuzz) scared the hell outta me! Such a cool film though, seen it on ebay and gonna buy it, just got to! Ha ha!
