  • @MrBioluminescence Wile E. Coyote, SUPER GENIUS

  • at 2:15 is that the combustion chamber that is glowing?

  • Oh MAN! I know that I want for Christmas! Very, very cool. Great work on building your own jet engine!

  • holy shit!! the afterburner just epic!! and glowing exhaust nozzle!!

  • lol

  • Just the job for popping to the shops.

  • That is just plain awesome, did you ever get a chance to run it in a more open flat area, to see what the max. possible speed was with the unit?

  • AWESOME Go Kart!!!

LOL the guys at 2:20 were killing me haha

  • wat was da beasts 1/4 mile time?

  • 70 mph in about 19 seconds. It was built more for the salt flats :)

  • heh?!!

  • this is just ridiculous :D

    Awesome shit!

  • What's the thrust-to-weight ratio of the vehicle, including driver?

  • about 400 pounds to 100 pounds, not in my favor

  • where is this drag way?

  • Carolina dragway Jackson South Carolina

  • If you want to know the website of the speedway, look at the video

  • This guy has some huevos.

  • AWESOME great video! Man I gotta get me one of thsoe the turbines must cost a bit though...

  • awesome..!! lol!

  • What was the time for the quarter-mile & terminal speed?

  • i when to a drag strip today and wow the drag cars are freaking loud! lol

  • cool. man

  • fuckin slow..

  • why?

  • How fast is YOUR jet go-kart?

  • Is that Jackson Speedway??

  • sure is, Carolina Dragway, Jackson S.C.

  • Koolest thing I ever did see. What parts did you use to make this engine? How much thrust do you get? How thirsty is this monster?

Go to youtube and type in : "Miss. Budweiser Hydroplane." Scroll down your screen until you come to 1/8th gas turbine boat. Click on and turn up your speakers. You're in for another, real treat.

  • nice work!

  • would it be possible to make like a go cart sized plane that could seat like 1 person in it with these lil jets? i wonder if thatd work?

  • They have already it is called "The BD-5J Microjet" Look for it here on YouTube or on the net, It is pretty damn cool.....

  • they're very hard to control.

  • A fella mounted two, jet engines on a wing. His craft is called the "Cri-Cri." It goes 150 m.p.h. on two engines and 100 m.p.h. with one engine on. Yes, one man can ride in it, but I imagine the ride would be a short one. Those jet engines are "petro gluttons."

  • Rock on man!!!! you rule, i want to put jets on everything too =)

  • I want them on my back!

  • Last summer I saw a photo of a man who had a jet engine strapped to each calf. He was a skydiver. I guess he wanted some forward motion as he fell from the sky.

The things people will try nowadays.

Hey, I want someone to shrink me to six inches in height so that I can ride an R.C. jet plane.

  • people are crappy on this site. Great work for such a small turbo

  • lol that was cool,

was that someone cussing their ass of at 2:20??

    wakenbake005, I must say u did get PWN3D extremely...

  • i could of ran faster than that

  • How? Is your ass on fire?

  • Pwned.

  • Indeed

  • i have a go-kart too...its name is sammie =]

  • hi

the video was not that impresive but I know they can be misleading , was it fast of the line and more importantly did the crowd go crazy.

what diameter turbo did you use and do you think it could be put in a Quadbike frame for exahabition work?

    keep up the good work.

    Paul from Australia

  • what jet engine model is that?

  • its a turbocharger from an army tank that I converted to a jet engine. Check out the DIYGasTurbine Yahoogroup

  • that looks fun

  • Would the afterburner work better if air could be pumped into the afterburner combustion chamber? Any ordinary smog pump could deliver air under pressure and probably make the afterburner really put out some power.

  • Why even bother with a helmit?

  • Because without it the track officials won't let you make the run. Simple...

  • and at 70 mph on a freeakin go kart with no belts y wouldnt you want to protect your most important area of the body!?!?!

  • You mean your balls, right? ;)

  • Safety = 0

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • I could run faster than that, and i only got 1 leg.

  • what was the ET?

  • ha ha hes even got the fuel dumps like the proper jet cars lol

  • screw a jet engine lets put two jet engines on one, or better yet lets put 3 lol

  • screw that, how about sell it and use the money to buy a helicopter engine. that's what I did

  • why do we have to put a jet engine in everything...lol

  • home made

    10 mph

    pretty sweet

  • hey stop critisising this guy

he did better than most of you could do !!!!!

  • Fantastic job, that looked incredible.Well done to ever built that!

  • homemade jet turbin kart?that thing is bitchen.mad props dude:)

  • WHERE ARE THE WINGS,LOL

  • I used LP because I didn't need to have a pump for it. I tested it on diesel but it didn't make anymore power.

YES! IT'S SLOW! Tht's not the point, it did what I built it to do.

  • i disagree...for a hand-built go-kart it's damn fast clocking in at 70. good job, and by the way were the people in the background complaining about it?

  • Krugtech, there's no need to waste your time defending yourself. Those that know what you did and appreciate it speak for you. Those that think you wasted your time just don't have a clue what's involved in getting a jet engine to run, even less knowing how to get one to run reliably. This was one of those projects where the trip was almost more important than the destination. We learned much from this adventure.

  • Wait until they see the latest. There will be 'haters' shooting snide comments against it too but just ignore them. Only answer intelligent or misinformed questions. Hell with the tossers!

  • so, what your saying is there's people like me who build neat shit like this, and then there's jerkoffs who can't do much more than choke their chicken and badmouth my work? Sounds pretty much right. Haaaa ha haaa apoor little wankers playing on their moms computer again.

  • Heh, that's the beauty of the internet. BTW, was the kart moved solely by jet thrust, or the turbine was tapped for shaft power?

  • just thrust. My van is shaft power

  • my lawn tractor goes faster than that 60mph+

  • my girlfriend goes EVEN faster than that... but the point is the jet turbine works great!

  • cool respect for doing it bit is slow lol

  • thats shit! my gopeds faster!

  • On video it looks slower so less impressive.

And howmany does that thing use? They should think about that too.

    But is was worth waching...

  • That looked slow.

  • Dude... homebuilt turbine? Much respect for that! Little thing sounds insane, even if it didn't go terribly fast.

But why LP fuel? I would think running JP, kerosene, or diesel would've resulted in considerably more power, as they contain more BTUs.

Or maybe that was the point, huh? You did say the entire thing was built from junk, after all. I'd be kinda sketchy of driving some of my creations at ludicrous speeds, too.

  • impressive stuff. well done

  • thankyou, respect

  • Big lead up to a slow POS..... i thought he would have taken off...wipe lash style boo..

  • I built this to prepare myself for the TV show Junkyard Wars, not to impress you. The one I built while I was on the show was even slower. It's because it was made from junk, or pieces of junk, so it's a POJ really.

  • oh brother, all that for something so damn slow? Buddy, I have a remote controlled car sitting next to my work desk that can hit 92mph in less than a second, Now if your gunna make a jet-kart, Make sure it auctially launches like a jet.

  • Dude, it was the slowest, most dangerous, cheapest hack that I ever took to the dragstrip. It was also the most fun. I sold the thing for $3000. You can't ride your RC car, then sell it for 10 times what it cost you. What I learned with that kart got me hooked up with a shipload of other people interested in turbines and I'm involved with projects that have taken me miles ahead of my RC car days. BTW I was in the RC car mags back in the 80's for doing 65 mph in 2.05 seconds.

  • awesome buddy, top job

  • Man, if you hadn't sold it...

What do you think of making another one

    with...2 turbines?? :D

Now that would be even cooler and scarier =D

  • Are you crazed? You only use two turbos when ones two large and lags. The Cycle logic unit is PERFECTLY matched and exhibits NO lag.

For 10k you can build a turbo 1000rr cart, but is wayyyyy to fast! You need to widen and lengthen the chasis as if you hook up on a turn you will die....from a 120mph flip....oh and a kart that large has HUGE tires for its size.

  • Cool, not about fast, but different. What also would be cool would be to steam engine down on a go cart. Rubber band loaded drive train; Sterling engine down the strip. If you had a neutron drive... would not be fast but cool.

  • only 70mph??? god jet powerd and still only that fast, my little 100cc J gets better speed than that.. and it only takes 5 seconds to fire up..

  • I don't think it would be that fast if you built the engine yourself ...

  • Awesome man! I wish there were five mile drag strips! The other guys would run out of GEAR!!!!

  • Im not trying to be mean or anything....But you JET POWERED cart took two minutes to ready and and then hit.....70?

I mean my $500 tiny 50cc twostroke pocketbike in HORRIBLE tune can beat that and the most difficult part of prep is mixing gas and oil...

This was the definition of anticlimactic. Youd have been 5 seconds faster down the strip with a brigs and stratton 5 horse....and whats sad is its actualy true...

  • yes, but, face it, jet engines were not intended for the strip, lets see you beat his go-kart in the salt flats!

  • Yeah, but can your 50cc pocket bike shoot 20ft flames and belch smoke like that? Nah didn't think so!

and If the race was for a mile instead of a 1/4 he 'd leave you behind( if he was crazy enough to ride that thing that fast).

  • How about a TEN mile course....no the gas would run out....how bout two miles on an auto course.....what you cant steer at speed and reaccelerate? Hmmm How about.....no....so your saying it could beat a cheap pocketbike if given a MILE? wow....cool.

  • HurricaneTiger, I have no idea what that thing would top out at maybe 70mph is all is could do? Serious question what was your top end on that pocket bike because my son has a Suzuki 50cc quad that he's been riding since he was 4. When the throttle limiter sometimes "accidentially" came loose he would scare the crap out of me by hitting 40 mph or better before I could stop him and fix the limit again!

He's 8 now and still scares me at the speeds he hits!

  • O'rly?

Can your 50cc Pocket Bike throw flames

around, blowing smoke and making noise??

This is a HOME MADE turbine go-kart,

not just a stupid bike you bought on eBay.

Get a grip on yourself man, the speed is

not what matters here. What matters is the fact

tha the pilot is 2 inches from the ground with

an enormous air-exploding machine just 5 inches from your...head. Man you don't know SHIT about adrenaline.

    Get a grip on yourself.

  • I have owned a CBR 600 powered gocart. Top speed 120mph. o-60 2+. BUILT WITH MY DAD...cost 2000 to build except super expensive tires it went through....OH and it shifted turned and accelerated faster.

Sold it for a 99 CBR 600 (got 4500 for it).....the RR was streetlegal so yeah...

Im a motorcycle freak so yeah....I know adrenaline

  • I should have never commented. IT IS NEAT YES.

but ive built faster go carts with briggs and stratton engines let alone my cbr powereed shifter kart.

Im sorry I complianed it wasnt my place but im not the only one who noticed.

  • motorcycles are cool, but they don't throw flames up in the air, sucking more air above your head

  • thats true. Did you know that The current Honda CBBR 1000RR makes 160 but weighs less than 400pounds...

Yeah thats amazing BUT theres a shop called cycle locic that makes a GORGEOUS turbo kit that brings it up to 250.

Now imagine that engine on a kart....dEATH WISH MUCH?

Ide say my biggest issue after watching the kart 5 more times....is the headache screamin sound.....I couldnt stand that.

  • ¬¬

Like I said, bikes are cool, and the 1000RR

is a dream machine, but this is a Home-made turbine.

And I just love turbine noises...

  • I have a link that will make you wet yourself

    google "edge Barracuda"

Up to a 1400 ninja engine or are beloved 1000rr.

JUST add engine. From ANY super bike.

Welded and shipped to your door.

    This badass costs 9k american.

  • Lets Race... check out my video and decide

    Blue Smoke Jet Luge

  • man, that looks like fun, it must feel like you're doing 1000 mph that low to the ground. Unfortunately I sold the go-kart a long time ago. Let me build you an afterburner.

  • Kinda reminds me of a school buddy's Fiat 124....sounded like it was haulin' ass...then look at the speedo ..damn 35 ! LOL

  • hey, I can't complain. It cost me all of $400 to biuld and I built it for R&D for a Junkyard Wars episode that I was on. It was slow but it was the most fun I ever had at the dragstrip Check here for the next project-

    use tinyurl 38lx57

Thanks to all who gfave positive comments and you're all welcome to come for a ride.

  • lol some random kid at the begginning asks "what's ur name"

  • they were dumb for letting you run without a cage and a certified flame retardant suit, bike leathers do not cut it when sitting on a LP gas bomb.

Also, it took you 34s from tree to the end of the vid which was not honestly you a the trap, I doubt you hit 70mph which is why the vid cuts before the trap time and speed show. YOU AINT GOTS TO LIE TO KICK IT MAN

  • Calling me a liar? WTF is wrong with your clock? 70 mph in just under 20 seconds is the truth. Run with a cage? are you fucking mad? Bikes should have cages too and use non flamable fuel and seat belts ha ha. You have no clue as to what it takes to get a propane take to exoplode but I do because I did. Don't bother me again until you get your head out of your ass. BTW, what do you have? A top fueler? Run with the big dogs or stay on the porch and keep quiet.

  • wat the fuck is ur problem

  • conglomorateman is my "problem" Not really a problem, just an ignorant asshole

  • Haha man thats insane - but from all the noise I did think you'd go a lot faster.

  • oooo the noiseee :D:D:D

  • I thought he was gonna take off like a bullet, lol

  • man...the exhaust was glowing...

  • Thats an awsome kart, my friend and I hope to make a kart like that, good job.
