This is not a step-up ring, but a specially designed ring for Hx1.

HX1 has no filter thread on the lens barrel and can hold no filter at 58 mm.

The solution is: Adapter ring.

@ghett0fabu1as There's a button to the left of the viewfinder (the eye piece you're referring to) that switches between it the LCD screen. But be aware that the viewfinder in the HX-1 is electronic, not optical, it's actually a tiny LCD screen that pretty much shows the exact image the LCD shows too, which is good cause optical viewfinders have optical distortion, you don't always get what you see. The point of using the EVF is that something under sunlight the LCD screen is too reflective.

I don't have any filters yet, so I don't know how this works with them. I'll be getting a polarizing filter in about 1 - 2 weeks from now.

i got this camera, but all the images it produces seem ti have this noticeable bluish tint to them. It's like the colors aren't completely there...this effect is generally seen with landscape shots...any advice...is this a flaw in the camera

...because the Canon sx20is that I exchange for this camera (thinking it was better) did not produce the same effects, the canon camera gave out bright, colorful, clear images (no bluish tint)
