  • I would love to eat that bobcat.

  • they should make a webkinz bobcat :D

  • To bad it didn't eat you. >:(

  • It's a lynx dumbass! Look at the ears and tail!

  • @Jamal0134 No... it doesnt have that hanging cheek fur. its not a lynx.

  • lynx can tell by its ears

  • thats a LYNX!! bobcats are in marshes and swampy areas or deserts!! not in cold or snowing areas where lynx prefer to live..

  • @bernRhen23 The range of the bobcat extends from southern Mexico to Northern Canada. They're pretty adaptable cats.

  • Magnifique chat !

  • worst christmas ever!!!

  • I LIKEZ DEER mEAT TOO

  • Sitting next to a fresh kill!Got to wonder what kind of other predators may have been lurking around there.

  • how could a bobcat with a size like this kill a deer?

  • Cool !! The deer is so big dang it must of been huge!

  • its a bobcat and a very good looking one at that.

  • The argument over what constitutes a "lynx" and a "bobcat" amuse me. They are both different species of lynxes, like African and Asiatic lions. A bobcat is a species of lynx, hence the full name lynx rufus.

  • @dadevi It's nice to see intelligent comments once in a while. Thank you.

  • its a big bobcat......... not a lynx

  • lyn,x ive trapped a couple bobcats this season it's a lynx

  • @nvtrapper Dude, This is a Bobcat, Believe me!! I live right in the midst of the heaviest bobcat population in North America(NOVA SCOTIA). I do not want to burst your bubble, but you trapped a couple of lynx this season!! you will find out when you cash in the fur.. The bobcat's name is the lynx rufus. They look alike but are smaller than lynx and way more agressive. They are known to decimate lynx poplulations when their territories cross, and emerge the victor. see "bobcat in trap" by hiltzter

  • It's a a big ass kitten lol

  • hes gonna eat you next!

  • Definately NOT a MOUNTAIN LION nor a Lynx. Appears to be a bobcat judging by the black bands on the tail, though faint. The terrain in which a Lynx is found is very true to the area in which this video was taken, though Lynx are generally found to the north by several hundred miles. In this case, the evidence is in the tail coloration.

  • lol the bobcats around here are soo retarted i chased one up a tree

  • I think thats a lynx, but im sure 500 people already said that on here.

  • lynx

  • Look at that fluffy soft kitty!! All hungry and wanting to go back and feed her kittens. Go pet her I dare ya!! LOL

  • Ive spotted many bobcat on my property. I even got within 10 yards of one sleeping, mistaking it for a dead deer, it got up and sprinted away. If i see hostility, what should i do? should i kill it with weapons or wait for an attack to fend it off. Are they any real danger?

  • @brysonwilliams70 there is no real danger. they rarely attack humans.

  • @aylera coolio looks like im gonna have a pet

  • actually lynx have those little toughs on top of there ear bobcats dont and lynx are a whole lot bigger

  • actually tjcaleb bobcats are the smallest member of the lynx family

  • They are a very beautiful Animal I had three behind my house one morning, and if I could of understood my camera better I could of shot some videos along with the photos I took

  • i have bean researching bobcat and lynx because i have a lynx in the back of my truck the footage is poor but i want to say that it is a bob cat b/c of the tail it is black at the tip but to long a big cat is 25/30 ponds in both species where was this cat found?

  • n u wonder why people get attacked by wild animals

  • i agree it is totally a lynx you can tell by its tan yellowish fur and long fur points on the ears.. that guy is dam lucky lynx are much more agressive than bobcats

  • A bobcat IS a lynx. Lynx refers to a whole genus of animals

  • great capture... big stones to video that as long as you did. nice job

  • Im going with bobcat, arnt lynx alot bigger and have more white on there faces and those weard beards

  • What a cool sighting and some great footage.

    Awesome posting.

    5/5

  • Sorry dude, that is not a bobcat. That is a lynx. Where is this? Up north obviously. I'm surprised he let you get so close. Just goes to show you he wasn't leaving his food source.

  • BOOM!

  • definetly lynx. where was this again?

  • that bob cat is like i hope that guy knows i can see him and hear him, and if that deer doesn't fill me up he's next.

  • retards that is not a bob cat ive killed bob cats before it is clearly a linx bob cats have stub tails idiots

  • it looks so cute

  • yes sir they can, in fact that bobcat probably killed that deer. no joke.

  • Comment removed

  • Bobcats are so cool.

  • Nope...it's a Bobcat for two reasons: 1) about 1:29 in the video is the dead give away - if it was a Lynx there would be no white underneath the tail. 2) It is obviously in the winter which for Lynx would present more a thicker darker pelt. The only sure fire way besides this video is to look at the tracks in the snow -they where fresh! Get the tracks on camera when you can! Don't get caught up in measuring tufts...

  • Looks like a bobcat to me.Bobcats have tuffed ears and manes too.I could be wrong though,it wouldnt be the first time.

  • This is a lynx, one of my favorite cats (Bobcats are also cool), Thanks for the video.

  • How close did you get to it? Looks like you were pretty close.

  • I believe that is a Lynx not a Bobcat.

The high tufted ears and large mane are a dead giveaway.

  • that is no cougar, a lynx buddy

  • you seen the mountain lion kill it ??

  • you got pretty luckey, my friend, bobcats get up to 25lbs or so nd even a smaller one, around 15;bs has been reported killing a 125lb buck. latched onto its back nd crushed the windpipe. so all considered, good job nd watch out. ") nice footage btw.

  • Looks more like a lynx if u ask me

  • your right it is a lynx bob cats have stub tails i know this becase ive hunted them

  • i'm 5 feet 10inches 170lb male very healthy... Should I be worried about bobcats in the wild while i'm taking a jog in the mountains??? could they attack me???

  • Bobcats don't hide in the mountains. You might need to worry about the Mountain Lions, but that's rare.

  • do bobcats attack humans???

  • Nope. Just watch out for mountain lions if you are thinking of jogging in the mountains.

  • Bobcats/lynxes rarely attack humans. Normally they only attack when startled and it's a quick hit and run attack. Similar to domestic cats.

Also realize bobcats weight between 15-30lbs. They are quite smaller compared to a human and are more afraid of you.

The other reason they may attack, they have rabies.

If you see a crazy looking bobcat and you think he might have rabies, run really really fast.

  • Thanks for your post... I didn't think bobcats were big enough to be a real threat to humans...

  • take a pistol, would be good for defense against bears, lion and of course the most dangerous of all people.

  • I know for a fact a lynx(slightly different then a bobcat) could fuck you up, i've play fought with pet lynx that were declawed and they have an amazing amount of strength for such a small animal add big sharp claws to that i wouldnt fuck with it, but chances are only a mother with cubs would ever attack a person best to observe with respect none the less

  • This was a bobcat as I have good photos and it had a white tail bottom & more. From the Colorado Division of Wildlife:

Bobcat or lynx? Feet: Lynx have very large feet compared to bobcats. Tail: The tip of a lynx's tail is completely black, a bobcat tail has a black spot at the top & is white underneath.Coat: Lynx hair is long and grayish-brown color in winter. Bobcat's have distinct spotting with striping on the legs and face. Tracks: Lynx tracks are about 5" across, a bobcat's are 2½" to 3".

  • Why did you film a bobcat eatting a deer ur lucky that thing didnt bite ur arm off!!! but good video!!

  • Hi, I happened upon the bobcat while going to set up my trailcam so I could get photos of the lion that killed the deer. The bobcat was acting very wary of us if we moved fast, so it seemed unlikely to attack. After a while we walked right up, and the bobcat ran about 75' away and started licking it's paws, not even looking at us. A couple years ago I saw a different bobcat sitting in the woods 35' away and it did not budge; another bobcat played with it's kittens on my friend's porch.

  • @caverdaveeee its a lynx, look at the ears and face.

  • @caverdaveeee its a lynx, look at the ears and face, the ears have the classic hair tuft and it has the face mane as well. Not sure why you are insistant it is a bobcat, maybe you just like being ignorant.

  • Definitely that is a lynx.

Where did this wild tableau take place?

Can you give us a state? Or the name of a forest maybe?

  • This video was taken in Boulder County, Colorado when it was very cold out.

  • Beautiful animal - I think everyone is confused it is a LYNX cos it is in its wintercoat. Good to see it had it's feed and was'nt scared off. It pisses me off when someone posts a vd of a bobcat in their garden where it has been stalking a groundhog (or similar) for hours probably then when the Bobcat goes in for the kill the person scares the cat off and thinks they are some kind of animal welfare expert and they have done nature a massive favour by stopping the Bobcat killing the groundhog.

  • @bapyou Hi. Please refer to my comment to nvtrapper. This is a bobcat. It's binomial name is the lynx rufus. But other than that it is not a lynx. look up bobcats in nova scotia and you will see what I mean.

  • @bapyou no that is a BOBCAT!

  • Lynx not a bob cat. Bob cats are not that big...and oh yea the ears kinda give it away.

  • thats a lynx, the ears give it away.

  • take the skull of the buck!

  • ask your friends about the tail tip ,if it was black -its a lion, and probably left tracks about 5 inches wide. we have a few here in misouri, several in arkansas.

  • they're are called cougars not lions or mountain lions

  • jssemi:

Mountain lion and cougar are two of the common names for the exact same animal. They are also called puma and - in the old days - catamount. These different names are used in different parts of the country, and by different peoples in those parts. The REAL (i.e. scientific or Latin) name for the animal is 'Felis concolor', or single-color cat. Latin names were developed beCAUSE there is ALWAYS confusion over common names for animals. Always.

    Cheers.

  • If you want to read a really good book about mountain lions (cougars), find a copy of Chris Bolgiano's "Moutain Lion: An Unnatural History of Pumas and People" (Stackpole Books 1995).

Oh: In Florida mountain lions are called 'panthers'. Again: Exact same animal, 'Felis concolor'. But there aren't any mountains to speak of in Florida, are there? Hence, the name mountain lion means little in the Florida landscape. Cheers.

  • That is a bobcat. Very lucky!

  • Hey everybody im from WV and I was mountain biking with some friends earlier today, After we got about 3 miles in the woods one of my friends saw something and pointed it out, my ther friend watched and they said it took off and cleared a hill (50-80 feet) in about 5 seconds. I was a bit farther ahead and didn't see it, but they wouldn't lie. They estimated it weighed about 150 pounds. They guessed it was a mountain lion. Was it a mountain lion, lynx or bobcat? What do you guys think

  • 150 lbs? Bobcat and lynx do not grow to anywhere near that size. Males are usually in the 30-40 lb. range. Assuming your friends are not exaggerating, they may have in fact seen a rare WV mountain lion. If that is the case, they are lucky it decided to run instead of making a tasty snack out of them.

  • a mountain lion is not going toattack a group of bicyclist, they dont resemble prey/easy prey.

  • Agreed, that would be unlikely. Just an attempt at a little internet humor.

    Swing and a miss.

  • yeah, that kinda stuff is hard on the net, you cant color your words....you can really begin to see how "93% of communication is non-verbal"

  • Cougars don't pick their prey on "ease". Just about 2 or 3 years ago a mountain lion attcked 2 bicyclists on a popular trail in San Diego dragging 1 away to their death. A couple of suspected reasons why a cougar would attack a bicyclist.

    1) Moving quicker so it's easier to happen upon and suprise the animal, which in most wild animals can lead to an attack.

    2) You can easily look like you are retreating which is a sign of weakness and almost always insues in a chase.

  • 3) Wild cats often feed on animals that travel in heards. Is there that much of a diffenece between a group of 4 deer moving quickly through the bush to escape or a group of 4 people on bikes flying down the trail through the bushes.

    4) Desperation. The mountain lions in California are being encroached uopn more and more. While they are running out of places and animals to hunt we will start to see more odd attacks like this...

    5) They had a bag of Cat Nip in their shirt pocket.

  • That's a lynx.. not a bobcat. Wrong coat and size and everything.

  • thats a wilderbeast

  • That's not a bobcat (Lynx rufus). It's a Canadian Lynx (Lynx canadensis). Seen side by side, the differences are quite obvious and really striking.

  • Can people have these in captivity. I know you can when they are small but how heavy do they get? Can they breed with a domestic?

  • Its a Lynx

  • Did that kitty bring down that deer himself? :-o

  • i think thats a lynx...thats too big for a bobcat...

  • I think that's a Blynx .. yes, Bobcats and Lynx crossbreed where their territories overlap.

  • Couldn't it be a Lobcat?

  • No, it couldn't. Lynx have a distinct appearance and size difference from Bobcats. Blynx (as you meant to refer to) are rare and only exist in Minnesota where the two species range overlaps.

  • i eat bobcats

  • prove it! Where's your video?

  • Awesome video!

  • Babcats rock, their rare. I have one fat bobcat who likes hugs and being a lazy fat bastard...lol...

  • bobcats arent rare i read on wikipedia they arent even endangered

  • That's awesome! I think I have a bobcat in my backyard.

  • Wow, that's amazing. I saw an photographed a bobcat in the Verdugo Mountains of Southern California today. It was doing the same thing where it would close its eyes for awhile and then open them again. Interesting behavior.

    Barefoot Ted

  • boy, it is a danger world outside no matter how big and strong you are,

  • nice vid cool that it let you get that close
