now if they had an actual disabled actor play Artie, they couldnt have had done "Safety Dance" in the latest episode. THey think about these things. And directors have these kinds of images pre-audition. You CANNOT say in any way shape or form that its YOUR role. Its a part OF the role. And it WAS out there. You just didnt look hard enough. And about the age subject, youre not thinking about what THEY (they being the directors, producers, casters) want.
FYI A photo might get you in the door but it wont get you the gig talent will! This way may not be your way or anyone else s but its my way. I stand by all i said.
hey carmitch Actually the did call me back! I don't want Glee to go anywhere! I just want them to think about things before they hire more Fake disabled actors. And by the way i was that kid in high school down from the looks to being in choir. All i wanted was for PWD actors to have a voice! Opportunity to Strike out is still opportunity. And i thinks its hilarious that someone how has never seen my plays or my tv/fim work is critiquing my acting. My Web Stuff is just my blog. not acting.
Well Mr. you don't get it. the point was I am doing this to empower my fellow actor. i Hate victim players as well. But i am not one to stand by and not say anything while our parts are not presented to us to audition. Those who create waves effect change! I also work with youth all around the world. This blog wasnt just about me is for ALL disabled actors who bust there ass. Everyone has disappointment even able bodied folk that's a given. Doesn't change my point I stand by what I said.
Why wasn't this said back in May, when the show first aired? It's only when the AP article was written that the complaints are made.
Plus, you never watched the episode to begin with. So, how can one complain about something they haven't seen?
Also, have you been on Broadway and/or been in a band? Most, if not all, of the singing main characters are played by actors who have had major singing experience.
You can have your complaint, but it's too late. The show's a hit.
I ve seen it carmitch by the way you know i was on that set months ago airing my distaste to produces and directors that was way before May and Fyi the music is prerecord and lip sync for the show and there you have but change is coming the wheels so to speak our in motion.
Andy, you don't talk bad about a producers' work while on set. That's why you don't get called back.
Everyone's lipsynced, but it's still their voice. Read their bios and you'll find what their experiences are.
Racially, you don't fit the typical Ohio h.s. student.
This is the problem of Hollywood. They don't know how to be honest when someone doesn't fit the role. And, people wonder why they get easily disillusioned by the industry?
This is something I have never considered before, but Andy is right - why can't actors in wheelchairs play people in wheelchairs? It doesn't seem to happen very often. I wonder why? Of course the best actor for the role should always be chosen but I know many good actors in chairs, Andy among them, and the roles for them are so few and far between that I guess it is kind of a slap in their faces to see an actor pretending to be disabled on tv. Something I would never had thought of....
Just a few comments/questions...Do you play guitar? Do you have a recording quality singing voice with a high level of talent? Do you have a natural sense of rhythm to allow you to learn and integrate into the regular choreography? Have you participated in professional music situations before? Thousands of people want opportunities and do not get them. I am an advocate for keeping things real. Glee is doing a great job portraying diverse populations.
I sing i dance. sung in choirs and several plays and by the way although the talent on Glee is great. There are just as qualified actors in chairs or better talented. We where not ask to audition, That is the injustice. The lack of equal opportunity to play Ourselves is
is gross. Its false diversity. But I understand you wouldn't get it if you don't sit where we sit.
You picked the wrong guy to make that comment to. I AM disabled and homebound as a result. I DO understand very well where you sit. However, I REFUSE to play the part of a victim in REAL life. I'm now retired, but I've spent my whole life helping disabled young people empower themselves and make the most of the opportunities life affords them. People without disabilities are ALSO confronted with thousands of disappointments, thousands of rejections, thousands of "missed" opportunities, etc.
