Every wild life program I've ever seen (and I've seen many) show Hyenas stealing kills from pretty much every other predator in Africa. Hyenas will displace lions from a kill only if they're strong in numbers and the adult pride males aren't around ( and sometimes Males being there or not doesn't matter but often results in certain death) , but Hyenas constantly pillage cheetah and leopard kills with or without help from a clan.

Leopards can kill Hyenas every time provided its a one on one fight and Hyenas aren't in groups. The only reason why Leopards retreat against Hyenas is because they are always in gangs and a gang of Hyenas would be too much for even single Lions let alone single Leopards.

On a one on one fight, there has been no case till now in which a Leopard was killed by the Hyena.On the contrary, there are numerous accounts of Leopards having killed Hyenas and sometimes even silverback gorillas!

the thing is the leopard instinctively knows that it is wiser to retreat than fight even if it's only a 1:1 fight - if injured a hyena can fall back on its pack, whereas an injured leopard (even though victorious) is pretty much doomed

btw leopards may be stronger overall but hyenas have far stronger jaws (then again cats have quick reflexes so avoiding those jaws shouldn't be too difficult for the leopard)
