  • @llynfach, actually it's what Hogan did. Study some film and you'll see it for yourself. I used to teach golf and it is what the great one did. That's how he got to impact with his wrists supnated.

  • Sorry, but this is not correct. Study Hogan's swing and see for yourself.

  • above video by golfbuldog prove that you opinion is not true! it 's depend on what kind of shot you want to produce, for slicer you may right on money.

  • Excellent lesson. Top notch.

  • Spot on, great tip.

Hard to say if this was Hogan's Secret but he sure did use this move.

You might wanna add that this move only works for players exercising a stable release. Thus all the negative comments from players using a roll release that have no understandig of what you're takling about.

  • Thanks, I will try it.

  • You can see it VERY Clearly in this footage of Ben... add to end of url of youtube /watch?v=sp0lGcVxidA&feature=related

  • I would love to see you hit a ball using the technique.

  • You have no idea what you're talking about. This tip is absurd and only makes sense to people who believe in manipulation. Hogan sure didn't.

  • Terrible advice. If you swing correctly gravity closes the face at the bottom. People slice because they have terrible pivots and are not synched up.

You forgot to mention the article where hogan says "forget that supination business"

  • You'll notice in most of l these "Hogan secret" videos, the guy never demonstrates or if he does it's obviously not Hogan. Some people are selling methods and have crappy swings. Leadbetter wrote a book on Hogan's swing and he can't demo it either. Don't believe everything you read. But if a guy can really demo, pay attention.

  • You are uneducated about the golf swing. Supination is necessary when you use the lower body properly, because it allows you to compress the ball and simultaneously control the trajectory. Saying that cupping your wrist causes a slice is like saying that golf created your physique.

  • hogan did not bow his wrist at the top of the backswing, it is impossible to be consistent with this move plus it upsets the natural tempo of the swing. his left wrist is cupped until it gets below the hips, and i doubt Hogan himself knew how this happened. the way he describes it is just being natural.

  • You are right, but why is it a secret it does not improve your striking. If you strengthen the left hand you can, keep it flat the entire way up back and down to impact(More Repeatable) or bowed if you think that is better which I don't believe it is.This is a manipulation that worked for a great player.Correct me if I am wrong but I don't believe Hogans distances were great. He would hit a 5 iron 160.Even at that time that was just ok.His short game is where his biggest talents were and accuracy

  • @dschultz6072 Your right.I'm just saying that if someone is going to make something a hidden secet it has to carry more with it that getting the wrist from a cupped to abowed /flat postion, thats just an adjustment.Hogan's distances were hindered by equipment but if you look at his average distance for each club compared to others he was not one of the longest hitters. He was actually way ahead of everyone with his wedges and putting though.

  • @secretogolf Hogan was one of the longer drivers of the ball in his day, and regularly won pre-tournament long drive contests. His Irons weren't that long sure, but in driving length, he was up there. Just look at the lag he generated, by anyone's standard, that ball was going to a ways.

  • @secretogolf Uh, Hogan's 5 iron was probably equivalent to a modern 7 iron in both loft and length, and he probably never hit it to maximum length. I would guess his distance with a modern 5 iron full out would be 200 to 210 yards.

  • very good Hanon, your observation is a nice start. The only thing is that the brain signal should not go directly to the left wrist. In other words, the move is a secondary move to something else which I will not divulge here. But your observation is quite interesting and I thank you for sharing it. Luis Suare

  • Supination of the left wrist for a right handed golfer has nothing to do with bowing the left wrist. Bowing the left wrist is called a flexion which opens the club face for a guaranteed slice.

  • I've tried that in the past.Man that is a hard thing to time. For me it's much easier to set the flat left wrist/bent right wrist PRIOR to reaching the top of the backswing then just hold that setting on the downswing ala Zach Johnson,David Duval, Lee Trevino.

No timing involved just pull like mad with your left side and keep your right hand/arm as passive as possible. That's MY secret. If Hogan knew my secret he would be the guy Tiger is chasing instead of Jack *LoL*

  • This guy understands what Hogan was doing with supination. But it also looks like he eats a lot of soup.

  • Tried it today. This little move forces you to hold the club at the swing apex while you flex your left wrist, thus also helping a bit with tempo. Fun stuff!!

  • G-Mac is doing this as well

  • (Hogan) "Didn't ever have to worry about hitting a big hook or any of those things".

Other than the fact that he battled hitting a hook quite a bit.

I'm no Hogan expert, but I know he's one of the greats and of course there is a ton to learn from studying his swing. But I have to say I'm a little tired of all the "Hogan's secret" talk. It's a little silly. Whatever you have to do to get to a good impact position - just do it. There's room for different styles.

  • watch ,,,IMPACT SNAP,,, video to see this in slow motion,,good stuff thanks

  • A fundamental concept, expertly explained. Thanks so much for the video. It makes a lot of sense.

I remember reading Hogan's book 25 years ago, but this just never took for me. Well, better late than never. I think this is going to improve my swing speed too. If that happens, going from a regular to stiffer shaft, and getting more distance, I'm going to be a happy man. Again, thank you.

  • Supinating at the top is only the first part...then you must have your right palm, back of left hand and clubface all facing the target line at the 9 o'clock / sitdown position and you must hit hard with the right side of your lower right index finger thru impact

  • A bowed left wrist is great, however once you start to introduce a "do" something with your hands to a position that has NOTHING to do with what the clubhead is doing seems like a recipe for more confusion.

Your delivery of the club also seems incorrect. The thing about golf is that is so individual. Hogan can not and shoud not be duplicated other than fundamentals.

It is almost like explaining how God works in my life. I can tell you , but you have to experience it through YOU. THX

  • I like this video, I wrote about this in my book its called "The Harley Move"... This was very important to Hogan's swing, in fact Moe Norman did the same but later in the downswing. Only difference in opinion I have is Hogan open the heck out of the club on the back swing with his right hand and tried to close the hell out of it on the downswing with the right hand. The Harley Move was more of a reaction to the linear motion that let Hogan come over the top with the club layed off. Good stuff!

  • Indeed this is the secret but the real irony is....that Ben did mention this in "Five Lessons" BUT!!! he never gave the "secret" as to where he actually initiated the supination other than it just happens somewhere at the bottom of the arc. Do you honestly think he wanted everyone to know when the book was published? ofcourse not. There is a few pages with illustration pg 101-104 and you guessed it, he never said how he commenced this position at the top of the backswing. Great video.

  • Search in youtube for the user "mavesy123" and watch his videos Secret PT1.mov and PT2 for a different view of how Hogan supinated his left wrist

  • @hanon1492 Dustin Johnson does that move beautifully as well.

  • If you believe he did this why the 3 right hand statement from Mr Hogan...Your method is on the loss ledger side of power generated to that point forward with this Harley move on top.

  • Good video. I think that is the same position cupped that fred couples is at the top of his swing.

Though there are a lot of players that remain flat or maybe bowed at the top of the swing. Tiger is the best example.

Interesting Tim Clark is unable to supinate his arms due to birth defect. Any explanation on how his swing works?
