I used to love this song & it takes me back to memory lane to when this song came out in the Fall of 1985 when MIAMI VICE was in its 2nd Season especially since I was 13 years old in the 7th grade at the time this song was released.
@Hoddersrevenge ...CMI IIx, the sweetest sounding Fairlight really. Still makes nice sounds today- the sound library for these instruments (and the NED Synclavier II) are available as sets for the Kurzweil line of instruments, which to my mind have never been surpassed (Except for the Yamaha CS-80, but thats all analogue and totally unique!).
i really like this theme song by Jan Hammer, except I never understood why he put that stupid and unnecessary instrumental noise which you can hear at 1:59 into this great song.
This might be way off-topic, but do you know if "Oxygene (part 4)" made it unto Billboard back in 1976/77, or later, and if so, where did it peak? (Please, pardon my poor english)

Correct me if I'm wrong people, but is he using a Fairlight CMI? Because thats what it looks like.

Yes, it's a Fairlight CMI, by the look of it it's a Series IIx.

Only two instrumentals went #1 on the Billboard chart in the 80's. Chariots of Fire by John Vangelis and this one.
