  • Dracula runs away most of the film! Why doesn't he just transform as a bat? What the hell is he doing manually burying some woman alive? Why does he not just kill her? How can Helsing simply push him away at the end?

  • What does the maid say at 6:31?

  • @linkfan160 She says, "I was come back to madame, so I came up here, and he looked like the Devil!"

  • @swissarmytenor Thank you so much!

  • @linkfan160 You are most welcome.

  • Lee's Dracula was brutal.

  • Trivia: Youtube's RCVR created by Jonathan Harker's son.

  • That was excellent! This movie was made in 1958 you say? I shall watch it!

  • I used to love Hammer Horror as a child. I might have to organise an old movie night :) Any idea who wrote the musical scores?

  • @EmmaDivaOfficial James Bernard wrote many of them. Malcolm WIlliamson wrote for "Brides of Dracula".

  • It's too bad that younger audiences only seem to know Cushing and Lee from the Star Wars movies. These guys DID have careers before George Lucas came along. Just saying.

To me they will always be the best Van Helsing and Dracula to ever grace the silver screen.

  • classic

  • Best Draculas

    1. Bela Lugosi and Christopher Lee

    2. Max Schreck

    3. Carlos Vilarius (Spanish verson of Dracula 1931)

    4. Gary Oldman

    5. Frank Lengella

    6. Richard Roxburg

  • @snakes3425 My comments on your list: Carlos V. to me was the only thing really negative on the Spanish version. Just not a good actor. Gary Oldman did great with the way he was asked to play the part, but I hated the way he was asked to play it! :^) Never heard of Richard Roxburg, so have to look him up.

  • i finally saw this movie like 2 days ago... friggen amazing. LOVED IT!!! the sequel, prince of darkness is really good too.

  • one of the best movie that no one will ever play like christopher lee and peter cushing ever and i dont think no actors can beat them two ...... beauitful film and well done for that time in the 1950s and love the colour too ...

  • Please upload the full movie.

  • @4418727 - Just buy the movie.

  • The music was always a great part of all of these Hammer Films. This one was far superior to Bela Lugosi's film in 1933 or so. Although the characters were mixed up from the ones in the Bram Stoker novel.

  • Holy cow, Alfred from Batman fought Dracula!

  • @Akonkid LOL!

  • @Akonkid And Grand Moff Tarkin!

  • i miss the ol' border watchman scene!

  • nice synopsis

  • @ahab345 Thanks - it was a pleasure to do.

  • Does Dracula ever speak in these movies? Such a waste of Lee's voice.

  • @RealH0rr0rsh0w in most he does but during the second half of this movie and the sequel he doesn't at all.

  • 6:48: Just dump Mina in that hole, that's great, Drac. LOL!

  • great camera work especially at the start of the film. they did so much on a very small budget for film making.

making them back to back saved a lot.

  • This film is excellent!!! (Could you do everyone on youtube a favour and upload the whole film please?)

  • this is the best DRACULA movie of all-time...maybe the best horror movie..when i first saw this it scared the hell out of me..CHRISTOPHER LEE was the most violent DRACULA..2 best scenes..LEE bursting in adorned with facial blood and full fangs after HARKER is bitten and the death duel at the end with him and PETER CUSHING.. stars VERONICA CARLSON and CAROLINE MUNRO saying when the 6'-6" LEE was fully made up he was very frightening and they believed they were about to be attacked by DRACULA..

  • @801liveable Well said! Lee expanded the character to new, scarier heights!

  • @801liveable I'll tell you what,When I think of Dracula I don't think of Max Schrek, Bela Lagosi,Gary Oldman,Ben Cross,or Jonathan Frid,I think of Chris Lee.

  • peter cushing, michael gough and christopher lee- amazing cast.

  • there are few films that are perfect maltese falcon original invasion of the body snatchers and this one not a scene can be cut from any of them this is truly one very rare movie after it they never would have to have made another Dracula picture, some were good, none were great but this one

  • Cushing should have said: "I got Death Star."

(Yeah, yeah. I know. Cushing didn't get Death Star until some years later.)

  • The best!

  • @ Karosanyo, yes, GREAT score, and complete agreement re:Cushing!

  • I haven't watched this in many years! I forgot how great its score was! Peter Cushing will always be the best Van Helsing.

  • @Karosanyo true! his character in AD 1972, Satanic Rites & this is amazing.
