It's only distantly related to gaelic, they separated 1500 years ago. Icelandic is only very distantly related too, going back to viking times. I'm a Welsh speaker and Icelandic sounds totally foreign to me.

sounds kind of nordic, like icelandic with less s's and more th's and ch's. It sounds quite different from gaelic.
