Metroid fusion has a boss just like this... I guess they return the favor by playing homage to Castlevania as Castlevania has paid homage to Metroid in SOTN and the rest of the CV games after that.

it's not Carmilla it's the Skull Sorceress, a fusion of the Rondo of Blood fights with Carmilla and Shaft.
