Methinks it wouldn't be a bad idea for Kawasaki to re-introduce this bike as a 650 LTD utilizing the same engine in the Ninja 650. Price it around $6K or so, it could be a minor hit.
@Scorpiuszeroone I agree. The other country's of the world get bike 500cc and below, For some reason we don't, There are many buyers who wan't more then a 250cc bike, and there no where to be found, In the US at lest. There are scooters thou..Some are pretty nice, They will run with the Kaw 500, Or better.
i had an 06 vulcan 500 same paint sceme.and it is truly an awsome handling bike and it is fast as well with it close gear ratios yet each gear will winde out mine did 125 no prob
I have this bike and love it. 2009 is the last year they made it though. Why? Not enough profit margin I guess. They want to sell you the big bikes, but for me the 500 is perfect. If you are doing many miles of interstate driving it might be small, but it does 75-80 mph just fine and gets 45 mpg. To me, the 250s are beginning bikes. This is too I suppose, but for many of us, it is fast enough and big enough to stay with. Can't beat the price, mpg, ease of maintenance, reliability.
@donniebrasco24 I don't keep bikes very long. I traded the Vulcan 500 in with 625 miles a month ago because I'm getting older and had trouble with the weight of the 500 and getting my leg over it. I bought scooters. I now own 3 scooters. An Aprilia 50cc, 250cc, and a Vino 125. The Aprilia 250 is a hundred pounds lighter than the Vulcan 500, accelerates comparably, with same top speed and of course you can step through it. 800cc would be too big for me I'm afraid, but I like the looks of it.
Hello there to all EN 500 lovers. I need your help!!! I'm trying to change the air filter for my 1996 Kawasaki en 500 which is a TRAPEZOIDAL one, I just checked it on my bike. I can only find a conic one over the internet. Could anyone help me with a code for an TRAPEZOIDAL air filter code or tip or anything. Thanks!!
I have a '95. It's a VERY reliable bike, and I love it. The only thing that gets me is that it won't run on ethanol gas. I have to find 100% gasoline stations, which limits where and how far I can ride it...even WITH the great gas mileage (60mpg). I also have custom pipes on it, and it sounds mean. There are aftermarket parts for it, but they can be tricky to find.
What is the top speed of Honda Rebel and Honda Shadow? also Kawasaki Vulcan 500 , Suzuki boulevard S40, S50, Yamaha Vstar 250, Vstar custom? i intend to buy but dont know what kind of . i prefer kawasaki vulcan 500 and honda rebel. i think about midsize bike
i'm living in CA and the max speed is 70mph ; my ideal top speed is 90 or100mph. i dont really need a bike too big cuz i'm 5' 7 and 160lbs. so i want to ride a bike that i can handle, i'm beginner as well. anyone know please recommend.
i got a 2007 back when they were new (in 2007), and i was disappointed when i first got it (wanted an HD) but i've come to love the hell out of it. it's a great bike, and it hasnt let me down in the 2 years i've had it. and it's super fast for the type of bike it is. i just want to know if it's possible to chop it up and turn it into a bobber. i think that'd be pretty bad-ass
As I understand it, for a 500cc cruiser it is a damned good buy (new $5,500) and will keep up with many cruisers in the 650-750cc range. The downside with this bike is that there are few aftermarket parts available for it. If you're just looking for a backrest, windshield and bags, you're probably OK. Any more than that and you may have to do the work yourself or go to a specialty shop and have someone do it for you.
I love my 2005. Great for a woman!!!! GREAT get up and go. I'm 5'3", can flat foot it, and EASILY lift it into the upright position. I can't lift the 900.
@740ilPower i'm 6`5 200 pounds do you think this bike is comfortable to someone like me??? I want the bike to ride on roads only. I really like this bike, but I have the doubt if it is too small for me
@dbenedettini it's not , the only time that it gets anoying is at the canyons with alot of twists , if your looking for long trips get something with abit better ride , but all in all i love it
@dbenedettini I have this bike, It's a great bike in many ways, But for someone who is 6'5" there not going to be happy, It's just to small. The power is decent for a person in the 200 pound +, It has more HP then some bigger cruiser bikes, Because of it's power to weight ratio. I am 5'10" 220+ range and it's fine. The bikes best MPG is 66, But the norm is around 58+mpg avg, Just depends on the gas & way you ride. Be it interstate ect. Cruses easy @ 80+mph, To bad it does not have a tack. yl

@Scorpiuszeroone Tell me about it!
In addition to the Kaw, I wish Honda hadn't got rid of the Shadow VLX. All it needed was a five speed!

@dkw12002 hell for 45 mpg, might as well go with an intruder vs 800, much nicer styling, way faster and just as good mpg...

I get about 50 mpg with my 2007, but I usually drive between 70-80 mph on the highway.
