@moutainlion85 - The Corvette is literally the ONE exception. The Challenger is a land yacht. The Camaro is a rolling blind spot that shreds like a tin can in an accident. For cripe's sake, the Mustang still has a solid-axle rear end. And that's just the performance car offerings. At least GM got smart and started selling some of their re-badged European market cars here, a la the Cruze, 2011 Regal, etc... Plus, where do you think American companies go test their best stuff? They go to Europe.

@DaedalusZero Testing on the Nurburgring in Europe (Germany), yes . That doesn't mean they get Europeans to do the testing or help for them. The N-ring is where almost ever big manufacturer goes to tune their cars, because it's the longest track in the world, with over 150 turns in it; but they're not using Europeans to do it themselves. Huge difference.

Just because some Mustang with stickers and mad-tyte colour matched wheels was faster than an M3 on a particular day doesn't magically make it a better car. American vehicles, for the most part, are poorly built, gas guzzling piles of garbage. My mom has to call me every other week because something's gone wrong with her crappy Monte Carlo.

@DaedalusZero look up the gas mileage on a boss mustang and on a m3. Be surprised, the M3s gas mileage is lower than a 7L z06 corvette that has 505hp, and the ls7 has a better hp/weight ratio than a m3. The mustang will outlast your m3 by 5x as well as costing less to drive. Try racing a m3 in america and watch your life savings dwindle to cents.

@n9athan - Where in the course of my comments did I bad mouth the Corvette or it's engines? I wouldn't exactly claim a 5x longer life expectancy for any car vs another. That's a bit of a dream. As far as someone spending their life savings racing an M3, that can happen with literally any car out there, including a Mustang. Racing is costly any way you slice it. You can think what you want, but I personally wouldn't buy a Mustang or any American car for that matter. They have no appeal.

The Hennessey Venom GT is based off a stretched Lotus Exige (a British car) and the Cobra was also based off of a little British car, the AC Ace. Nice try, though. Yes, the GT-40 kicked everyone's asses IN IT'S TIME PERIOD. I'm talking about right now, current day. Hop off of The Big Three's laps and accept that as a whole they just aren't that good.

And ran a record time at the Nurburgrin ring at 7.22!! I love corvettes but give the viper its respect, it is one of the many great cars that america has made.. DONT HATE VIPERS!!! @DaedalusZero It's called cause and effect, you usually learn about it in 2nd-4th grade. If the viper didn't get better, they wouldn't have to improve the corvette to make it better than the viper.. If there was no competition we would be driving the same cars we were in the 70s-80s because there is no reason to waste RnD dollars if you don't need to.

@nickyshelbykr I agree. Competition helps everyone. Ford fans got a Mustang with a 400hp engine to compete with Camaro & Challenger. Chevy fans got the Z06 and then the ZR1 because of the Viper. With competition everyone wins. Now if GM will only produce the Z06X!!!

Oh ok, I got it. Because there are people that get ripped off on some Ford or Chevy that wasn't even made by them and decide that they will never buy one again because of that. Well, yes, the American car companies have intentionally ripped people off countless times, but they have accomplished many feats and have survived for the most part (Chrysler)...so people shouldn't automatically rule them out. I've never made an investment on a new car and got ripped off so I wouldn't completely know.
