Come on! Of all the things the Zeitgeist Movement is about, you choose to address the most irrelevant bit of it! I should say that I only got 2:05 into this before I realized I was wasting my time and stopped watching, but anyway, you tried to discredit what Zeitgeist claimed about the great flood being from the epic of gilgamesh by saying that there were many other accounts not mentioned in the film, but you don't mention any of those yourself before moving on to debunk some other point. Weak.
Besides, saying there are plenty other accounts of the flood is strengthening the opponent's argument. I recall the intention of revealing the flood's appearance in another text was merely to say "look, it's not unique to Christianity. Christianity borrows from other religions and is therefore not the 'pure' thing you might have thought it was; this should weaken the insularity that has hitherto been displayed in our zeitgeist". By in large, this video misses the point.

i am close to finishing my masters in divinity. Have been in the leadership of the "church" for a long time. And religion is used to control people period. It is used to manipulate and divide. James says what perfect and acceptable religion is to God. None of what is going nowadays called religion could possibly be acceptable to God.

Besides, saying there are plenty other accounts of the flood is strengthening the opponent's argument. I recall the intention of revealing the flood's appearance in another text was merely to say "look, it's not unique to Christianity. Christianity borrows from other religions and is therefore not the 'pure' thing you might have thought it was; this should weaken the insularity that has hitherto been displayed in our zeitgeist". The argument that all religion is just a substitute for science (from before we had science), so now we don't need it anymore, is very flawed.

chr1sed: Christianity was NOT invented to explain away some (then unknown, but now well understood) scientific phenomenon per your example. Unless you want to start showing how there is a more plausible scientific explanation for the ardent belief in the resurrection and deity of Jesus than the Christian one...
But no, Christianity attempts to explain why it is that people can be in near identical circumstances and yet some will react in selfless, loving ways while others the opposite.

I agree with most of the arguments, but it is inaccurate to say "Justin Martyr was Catholic, not Christian. -- The Catholic Church didn't exist yet.
Besides, Catholics are Christians.

The movie Zeitgeist does not attack religions, it only tries to show us the how naive we can all be by beliving what we are told. Now I am not telling you that Zeitgest is trying to fool us Noo, But only openning our eyes, If zeitgeist intentions were only to talk us about religion , They could have done it in those four hours showing more facts. If you go to their website they provide you with titles of books of reference. Ones again don't belive me, but do the reserch for yourself . peace!

Near the end of part 1 of Zeitgeist, the narrator clearly says, "Christianity, like all theistic beliefs, is the fraud of the age." -- That looks like an attack on religion to me.

I think is more possible Jesus to be another one illusion and to have relation with zodiac,sun and astrology,than he was son of god,born of virgin,making a miracle,walking on the wather,rise from the dead.
That is just ridiculous to believe in something that you never saw or there is no one fact about existence!!! I believe in the power of the FAITH, but not in something UNREAL. Don't let someone to control you and your mind... just think guys!!

i have to commend you, if the evidence you have put forward is true, in shaking the points put forward in zeitgeist on religion to their core. you have done what the pope and college of cardinals refuse to do, and actually backed up your beliefs with fact (if they are facts)
but i still believe the majority of zeitgeist. it does not primarily aim to attack religion, more the corrupt elitist regime that keeps humanity in chains.

i am close to finishing my masters in divinity. Have been in the leadership of the "church" for a long time. And religion is used to control people period. It is used to manipulate and divide. James says what perfect and acceptable religion is to God. None of what is going nowadays called religion could possibly be acceptable to God.

while you have defended your beliefs well, i cannot say which side is right, as both sides give your evidence (not just the points you make) as fact. since i haven't seen the evidence myself, i cannot judge.
however, my point remains. the part religion plays in zeitgeist is actually very small. zeitgeist just portrays religion as the original lie, which refuses to evolve and therefore holds humanity back, but it is only a small piece of the force that does hold us back through stubbornness

as i remember it, the ENTIRE point of zeitgeist denouncing religion (whether you believe the views on religion expressed in zeitgeist or not, it does not matter) was simply to show that the leaders of religion always denounce those who doubt, call them non-believers and refuse to enter debate with them, which means that we do not have an opportunity to prove them wrong.
this is a parallel with how the american government refuses to enter into bedate with those who believe that they set up 9/11

How does Zeitgeist provide facts? It never backs up it's information with sources! I think that's a pretty big red flag for something!
I did a little study just to see if the chick on this video was for real. Personally, I see that much of what she is saying is true. Please do some research on your own behalf. It's better than swallowing up Zeitgeist with out questioning it.
