Why didn't the people check on the animals to make sure they were being taken care of?
A few surprise inspections would of saved these animals the agony of starving to death, and shut this place down a lot sooner.

I watched this video and I am appalled. I cant help but ask, what were these dogs doing at this facility in the first place? Seems like they had loving homes at one point, but to starve a dog to death would take considerable time and suffering. They would have had to be left there for an extended period of time. Did the owners leave the dogs at this facility, and if so why? Were they on an extended vacation? Who would leave their dogs in such deplorable conditions in the first place?
No offense to the Ohioans here who genuinely care about animals, but Ohio is severely screwed up when it comes to animals. Google "Troy Ohio Bird Hoarding" because it's not just cats and dogs that are being abused. Douglas Ratcliff starved his parrots in an abandoned home this summer, forcing the living birds to cannibalize the corpses of their flockmates who'd succumbed. He's suing the veterinary clinic who were able to rescue some of these birds for theft, while they're treating the birds.

This monster has already served his 4 months and can start taking in dogs again as soon as January 2012. According to the Nitro Foundation, the reason he wasn't charged for the other 14 counts against him was because the Humane Agents didn't have a search warrant when they arrived at the kennel and those charges were dropped. It's sad to think that this monster could be in the business of abusing animals again in just a few months. Nitro's Law needs to be passed NOW!

Tragedies should not have to occur before we do something about it. It should be the other way around. While my heart goes out to the families BIG TIME, I'm VERY confused about why these dogs were there for so long in the first place?! How long does it take to starve to death? I would NEVER leave my dog somewhere for that long without going to visit him or check on him?! And why didn't they see the facility first? Did NO ONE else work there?! Sorry, I did not explain myself very clearly. What I meant was that the kennel owners picked up the dogs from people, and took them out to the kennel, with the dog owners never seeing the kennel.

Well done Ohio, hope you're proud of your state. It's known around the world for it's cruelty to animals. And no, that's not someone else's problem. How any state can allow this kinda abuse on such a scale...well, it speaks book volumes of the character of the person, and the people who do see it but do nothing to change it.

as I sob looking out in my yard over the graves of my two Rottie Girls we laid to rest after a few months ago, Rescued as puppies being used as dog fight bait. For ove 10 years the loved, protected us. This story at this time is even more painful because I see my girls in those healthy smiling pictures. My soul is so empty, in such pain, anger. I watched this video and I am appalled. I cant help but ask, what were these dogs doing at this facility in the first place? Seems like they had loving homes at one point, but to starve a dog to death would take considerable time and suffering. They would have had to be left there for an extended period of time. Did the owners leave the dogs at this facility, and if so why? Were they on an extended vacation? Who would leave their dogs in such deplorable conditions in the first place?

No offense to the Ohioans here who genuinely care about animals, but Ohio is severely screwed up when it comes to animals. Google "Troy Ohio Bird Hoarding" because it's not just cats and dogs that are being abused. Douglas Ratcliff starved his parrots in an abandoned home this summer, forcing the living birds to cannibalize the corpses of their flockmates who'd succumbed. He's suing the veterinary clinic who were able to rescue some of these birds for theft, while they're treating the birds.

This monster has already served his 4 months and can start taking in dogs again as soon as January 2012. According to the Nitro Foundation, the reason he wasn't charged for the other 14 counts against him was because the Humane Agents didn't have a search warrant when they arrived at the kennel and those charges were dropped. It's sad to think that this monster could be in the business of abusing animals again in just a few months. Nitro's Law needs to be passed NOW!

While my heart goes out to the families BIG TIME, I'm VERY confused about why these dogs were there for so long in the first place?! How long does it take to starve to death? I would NEVER leave my dog somewhere for that long without going to visit him or check on him?! And why didn't they see the facility first? Did NO ONE else work there?! If someone else did work there, then shouldn't they be charged, too? I just don't understand why the dogs were there for so long without being checked on.

I don't understand why those dogs were there for so long that they starved. Also, when I have boarded I have toured the facility beforehand. Were the dogs all checked in at the same time and no new dogs after? I guess I'm asking how could this happen? Such cruelty by one human being. There wasn't a staff? Red flag.

Tomorrow I'm pulling a 6 year old rottie girl from Animal Control. She was brought in two weeks ago in near emancipated condition because her family "loved" her too much to give her up even when they couldn't afford to feed her. Luckily she's getting a second chance.

To some of us our pets are just as much a part of our lives as our family. For some, they are our only family. I hope one day people who abuse animals will be held accountable for their actions. These are ours sons and daughters, maybe they can't share a conversation, but they sure can love. Tougher laws and longer sentences should be imposed on those as if they were taking a human life from us.

I had tears rolling down my face 2 min into this vid. this is so sad! This man was trusted with the wellbeing of these dogs, to shelter them, to feed, them, train them and show them guidens and love. He gave them none of this and only served a few months in fail? Animal curelty laws are NOT strict enough! He will be out and he will do this again! If I could get my hands on him I would put him in a cage and let him starve to death, that to me would be justice!

Although Steve Croley will have his day,not in a judicial court, but his karmic end.some of us believe when you die, all the animals from your past will be there waiting for you, depending on how you treated them will decide if you are allowed into heaven. I hope this guy rots in hell. Did the owners of the surviving dogs get them back? Why did Animal Charities kill one of the surviving dogs? Are their humane officers clueless or what? Can't really say much good about them either. Shouldn't it be a prerequisite that you actually have to know about animals and have compassion for them?

When you board dogs do you not check out the facilities and look at the other animals? Do you not call and check on them? I left my dog once and it was in a facility where they had cameras so I could log in online and see.

How can it be explained that he only was accused on a certain amount of cruelty? Every single dog there was abused and he should have been punished on every single act of horror he committed. I hope "Nitro's Law passes with 100 % of the votes needed.

Sorry, I did not explain myself very clearly. What I meant was that the kennel owners picked up the dogs from people, and took them out to the kennel, with the dog owners never seeing the kennel.

This is just sad. It's upsetting. It pisses me off. It angers me. It makes me cry. How can anyone do this to a trusting, sweet soul? Animals depend on us for EVERYTHING. They love us with all they have and yet people still do this. God speed to those sweet babies. They're at the Bridge now, and they're no longer hurting.

Its been a honor to help Nitro's owner get the word out about his death & help get Nitros law passed we have worked hard & I have faith that Ohio will pass his law. No animal should be starved to death in there cage like these dogs we're. Shame on Steve Crowley you should be in prison for a long time. THis video is heartbreaking, however beautifully put together! Those dogs are martyrs now, all of them gorgeous and innocent. Croley is among that breed of complete and total pussy-ass coward and I hope he rots in hell AFTER slowly suffeirng and starving to death. Anything and everything painful that could possibly be inflicted upon him, I hope does.
