you think its bad now, wait until austerity hits the us again and they plummet into the real depression that is rising, greece is nothing...85% of canadian gdp depends on exporting to the us so canada is bound to get hit pretty hard in the near future
major problem is wages, canadians do not make enough money to cope with the ever climbing living costs. Price of food and rent has gone up continuously gone up with BC Vancouver at the lowest pay and the highest cost of living. I know BC min wage is going to go up to $10.40 or something by next year but it will be no different then $8 per hour then. Right now to make it pay to pay a single person needs to make $13 an hour to live in a1 bedroom on their own. CANADA YOU SUCK. TREAT US LIKE SLAVES
@icedogg420 Vancouver and the BC government has a way of keeping the hot housing market going...more Chinese buyers.
Wages...well, they have to stay low because companies are threatening to lay-off employees or even relocate if wages rise to anything that is livable. It should be a lot more than livable, there is a quality of life, of dreams and wishes that has been built in our consumer driven society.
Federalist policy of union busting, pension cutting will further reduce our quality of life
@JCVdude yes that's why I have another point to bring up and would like to see what others think.
Canada should close its boarders to immigration for people to move here we do not have the jobs for them, keep it open for tourism but close it for relocation. We need to get our fellow Canadians back to work I do not give 2 hoots about anyone wanting to move here from else where. Lets focus on what matters, there is to many Canadians out of work right now.
@JCVdude there actually hasnt been a "real wage" (hours worked for/ purchasing power) increase since the 1970s. mean while debt has increased, union membership dropped, productivity has gone up, and companies are making record profits over the past 40 years. middle class is getting screwed. we live in a democracy where we elect officials but when we go to work we accept a dictatorship. its gotta change.
@icedogg420 u should start flipping houses in Vancouver. I have been doing it for 7 years and am now ready to retire. The best thing is you do all that with zero down ! Just biuy a house, live in it for 12 months mark it up 25% and sell. Simple as that. More Chinese are coming daily.
another good video. I dont see this as some do calling it "pescimism porn". It just feels good to my higher consciousness to get a reality check every now and then. All I have to is look toward third world countries to see we are living beyond our means in this one. All the news I see regarding the economy seems to be pointing to some kind of international default. I don't know how it's going to play out yet, but I think it will affect everyone. Canada has a national debt just like the US.
Wow...so property is at it's highest? Well at the end of the day it's happening all over the world and none of the governments seem to be able to control anything in their countries apart from how much tax they charge!!! This is just one of the many problems we're all facing nowadays...
@xkanethebeastx They seem to have a way of going after unions for the high wages earned by people. But regulating Wall Street, Banks or reducing and eliminating subsidies to, say oil companies, can't be done. Two or more tiered economy and class, a 22 year old just bought a 100 million dollar home in LA and it's not even the primary residence.
Trust me...you think houses are expensive in canada...you should seriously come to south England...I personally couldn't believe how inexplicably cheap it was to buy real estate when we first visited Canada, which is a large part of the reason why we are soon to move there...you get so much more for your money.
@xkanethebeastx There has been an unjustified rise in home prices in Canada, many parts of our country is experiencing an economic downturn already. Prices fueled by investors and speculators are going to decline, it's an artificial bubble, if you are comfortable at buying property that is near it's peak price then you have a large inventory to chose from.
Here in the Okanagan some developers are already slashing prices by up to $100,000 dollars.
Thank you for this my friend , recently a house here in Toronto sold for 640K and it is a small house in a back alley , i am tired of telling canadians that the housing bubble will someday burst here too as it did in the US , the canadian economy is a joke by itself it looks more like a third world economy based only on selling raw material ...canadians are living in La La land
@povertyincanada I think our economy is in big trouble, it's just that people don't like to hear negative news. The government painted a rosy picture during the election and now the 'chicken's come home to roost so to speak.' Canadians' debt hits record $1.5 trillion..people are retiring with debt. And intrest rates are at all time low they can only go up. Trouble ahead...
buy buy buy go all in always win.
