When the screen freezes on the Ectaco Jetbook (and the Aluratek Libre) just push a pin in the reset slot in the back of the unit. The reader shuts off, then you can restart it, and the reader goes back to the page where it was before it froze - you never lose any books.
The Ectaco Jetbook Lite and the Aluratek Libre Pro are both made by the Chinese company JIPNO. They are identical in appearance and hardware, but the software is different. Ectaco's Jetbook Lite is similar to the Jetbook except that it uses 4 AA batteries and no audio. Ectaco uses books from Barnes & Noble, but Aluratek uses books from Kobo/Borders/Sony. The price for the Libre (which has audio support) is a lot cheaper - now less than $70 at many websites and at Kmart.
I still cant understand what idiots are making e-readers with TFT screens, ofc thats cheaper but you can read books from your computer monitor with similar succes.
so the big thing is that the kindle is a lot cheaper now. the original is $80. but its still big. Jetbook is smaller-est...
I still use it. its slow and freezes with large pdf with lots of graphix. I'm using it to read screenplays from Black List. works great. price is now $89. not much drop. its not better than ipad. it's just CHEAPER & SMALLER.
Man, you made my day! Do you really think that's better than a Kindle or iPAD? It would be nice see you debating or defending that with Steve Jobs, hahaha...
I've tried PRS-600, Kindle, Pocketbook, and JetBook. I kept the JetBook! It has NO page flicker upon turning pages. Hands down the best at that. The flicker on the others when you turn the pages drives me crazy. Not a lot of other bells and whistles on the JetBook, but if u need just a basic eBook ... this is THE one to get. (Until others get rid of that page turn delay & flash/flicker!)
Do not buy this thanks to this guy I bought this and its a piece of plastic crap!! Also made in china and I had to convert all my books to epub so I could actually edit the text or you would have to scroll over to show the two words that it cut off!!! Also what planet do you live on that this is better than kindle or ipad that is the funniest Joke I every heard do you own a kindle or ipad to make that comparison?? Apparently not!!
It's freezing because of the size of your SD card. If you copy your book to the unit ram it will fly. Same issue with many other ereaders I've tried. You can put in a small one (256mb) and it will also work well, but there is always going to be some lag when reading through the SD slot. Great review!

People that buy these products are so proud. I'd rather buy the kindle for $40 more. Oh wait it did.
