In Japan, there's a really messed up subculture of teenage girls called 'ganguro'. Initially, they were obsessed with African American culture and started wearing something close to blackface - but then it got real Japanese and started incorporating accelerated aging (no joke - forced wrinkling), visual kei, and who knows what else. This seems to be taking that concept to the extreme. It definitely points out how stupid it is.
