This is my take on it. The whole point of the up-tempo Ace of Base version is the contrast between the sombre subject matter and the catchy beat and the whistling.
This is what they call "irony".
You have missed the irony, the raison d'etre of the song.
But.. that is only my opinion and you know what they say about opinions.
The quality is kind of bad, I had to up my speakers way up to even hear you. I like the intense expression.
