  • Nice engine!! what is the model number of this engine? and what cc

  • ive unfortunatly had to scrap 1 of the mowers ive done what you want to do the fly wheel has a bolt behine the bearings and its held on a short taperd shaft so its realy difficult to fit a pully and they also have to run alot faster to keep running other wise they stall

  • @macfletcherhotmail thanks for the info

  • i have 2 ransomes marquis lawn mowers and they both have that engine on them and they are no trouble but saying that they havnt been ran in about 2 or 3 years now caus the show they go to got rained of 3 times

  • @macfletcherhotmail thats pretty neat, i like the engine, i am going to remove the large flywheel where the clutch was and put a pulley in its place at some point. first i have to fix the carberator though. the carberator doesnt work well. the float isnt metering the fuel correctly and the carberator floods the engine if you leave the fuel on. ill fix it sooner or later..

  • @1944johndeerel its funny that i have got mine out and running and mine cept flooding all i did was take the top of the float chamber and see if it still flooded and were the needle sat i oiled it and that seems to have sorted it for now some times it stops flooding if you tap the float camber hope this helps : )

  • @macfletcherhotmail thanks for the tip

  • Needle valves always a problem on these.

  • @simonspiers i have gotten it alittle better now than it was and i now have the muffler back on it. it runs alot better but it still floods.

  • @1944johndeerel if u get 2 run good put it on a gocart or minibike or lawn tractor

  • Very nice, if the float sticks the needle is dirty.

  • sure didnt look dirty last time i had it apart.

  • Sometimes the top of the needle gide gets blocked and it sticks the float, You can't allways see the dirt and a tiny amount will do it.

  • well maybe thats whats wrong with it then.

  • got one the same, have many spares for them could sort carb if youwant, glenn LONDON UK

  • i actually got it fixed. i took a hammer and got the throttle valve moving. i just need to fix the float which doesn not work right and i need to get the muffler from my freind.

  • How much horsepower?

  • wish i knew i know nothing more about it than what you see!

  • 2.5 horsepower 119cc

  • oh yeah! well not now anyways! the carb is all buggered up and the slide valve is seized in the idle position so it floods and wont run

  • I also used to have a BSA "Rocket 3" which had an inline 3-cylinder engine. Motorcycle had a wonderful musical engine sound. BSA made neat engines.

  • yeah its neat alright

  • it sounds (might just be the video0 like it has very little compression

  • it has decent compression. there is resistance.

  • Neat engine! My father had a BSA motorcycle many years ago.

  • yep this is the same company at least im told this is a bsa.

  • That's quite a unique engine, hope you get it to where it will stay running. At least you know it's mechanically sound.

  • well its in good shape as you can see.

  • this engines got some potential

  • its trying

  • lol pull, pull, pull, pull, pull, pull, pull

  • thats an awesome engine, never heard of Birmingham Small Arms, its probably pretty rare and worth a fair amount of money

love to see more vids when you get it running nicely :)

  • it was made in england thats why youve never heard of them. bsa was apparently a gun company a motorcycle company and a small engine company all in one. i could be wrong im not familiar with english made engines yet.

  • This looks like a very nice engine, the paint is pretty good, and a s soon as you get a carb you can fire it right up and put it on something, what would a small engine like this be good for, how many hp is it

  • wish i knew the hp. it was made in england

  • Thanks

  • That's a neat engine! Hopefully you can rebuild the carburetor and it should then run like new! It looks like it is in great condition too. I'm guessing it is rare? I could be wrong though. Never seen anything like it!

  • ive never seen another either an i tryed to find info on it and am still comeing up empty. ive been talking with someone "across the pond" who has one and told me it was a bsa.

  • my freind still has to give me the muffler.
