  • belg? :D

  • seriously, why spektrum? I have been trying to get away from spektrum for so long and have had many fail safes. Its all about frsky!!

  • @TeenFlyer95 Yes, Spektrum is, well, shit. But, with Frsky, can you use the little BNF models like the Vapour or MCX? Over all, it is actually quite good, especially for larger glow planes. Although, it did cause my FunCub to go full throttle (800W on a 14oz plane I might add), vertically into a pond. Luckily it was fine, but you have a point.

  • @sheldonholy You cant use spektrum recievers. Maybe use frsky of fpv. list of benefits;

Long range ( 2.5km easy on stock antenna can use patch for 6km)

    frequency hopping unlike dms2

    quck reboot time

8 channel receivers long range are 20 pounds (way cheaper than spektrum)

DIY frsky module is only $15 off hobbyking

    Do you have skype?

  • @TeenFlyer95 I don't use spekky for FPV. I use 35MHz. Any sort of 2.4GHz system is a crap idea for FPV.

I have Skype, yes. I can't remember my name (I guess just search Sheldon Holy), so what is yours? Oh and BTW I'm on the FPVUK forum too.

    Sheldon

  • @sheldonholy will my flying field is right next to a rc flying club so 35mhz isnt a option for me. Bruce from xjet and rcmodelreviews swears by FrSky so it must be something even for fpv ;)

  • @TeenFlyer95 Well I guess it is fine for just close in FPV, but for anything serious I'd use 35mhz. But then if you are being serious about FPV then I'd use VHF.

  • Hi...

I've got a Futaba T9CHP Tx and just bought a new

    Spektrum DSM2 module w/ AR7000 Rx.

Just wondering is the antenna lead long enough on the Spektrum module to do this mod or do I need to extend the lead (soilder a new lead on)

Just checking before I go taking a new module apart.

The heat sink you've fitted is it wired to any thing inside the Module...

Would it not of been easyer just to drill some holes (4mm) into the back of the plastic case, once apart.allowing the heat to escape...

  • @seanmcgrth Hi. To try to answer your questions: the lead in the module is long enough yes, no modding is needed there, so you do NOT have to do any soldering, extending wires etc... anywhere.

I cut a hole in the casing and glued the heat sink on. It is useless considering that I found the component which gets hot (a small regulator), is in fact on the second circuit board that is on the other side of the module, rendering the heat sink useless. There is no need to bother with a heat sink.

  • @sheldonholy Thank you for the reply...

Spektrum Module will arrive tomorrow So I'll be doing your Mod...

    ,,

  • @seanmcgrth Cool, hope it goes well. It is simple to do, once you open it up it will all be clear what goes where.

Let me know how it goes!

    Sheldon

  • @sheldonholy As you said very easy Mod to do...

    Done it today...

    ..

  • @seanmcgrth Brilliant. Is it all working OK?

    Sheldon

  • @sheldonholy fitting the Rx in my Phoenix 2000 Glider this weekend , So I hope it's all working right..

  • @seanmcgrth As long as no wires have been fiddled with, it will function exactly the same as before.

  • can i fly all parkzone and eflite BNF models with this module on my futaba 9c

  • A. I needed a tx with more functions - the DX7, although a good tx, wasn't sufficient for what i needed.

    B. The DX7 broke! Something broke inside, and as i had owned it for over a year, the warranty was void so Horizon wouldn't fix it.

Plus, i prefer Futaba, and i liked the 10C. It is a piece of piss to use, massive screen and i got it for £220 second hand.

    Sheldon

  • Thanks!
