  • what tank model is that and by what company

  • Try do the new battle diorama from airfix, it's a great kit

  • if you want to find bases try visiting just-bases.co.uk

  • @gunnergonecrazy Thank you... I will do that.. even though I have just stocked up on cheap photo frames.. :)

  • So how did you redo the tracks as you laid grass all over it and painted the tracks?

Did you also just add the grass onto the paint?

    Great vids btw!

  • just wondering where i can get the actual wooden bases? many thanks

  • @EvilKineeval Well, the toy shop where I got mine has closed down now.. so I don't know where to get mine either.. but you can always use cheap photoframes.. :)

  • @BasicModelling was that tozo in colchester? asked sumone else...

  • @EvilKineeval Yes, TOZO.. now closed.. :P

  • 1:18 - Damn lid! :D

  • I'll have to try this. Thanks for sharring!

  • what colour do you use ? and the video is very helpful :D

  • @DuhMulti I just use the Humbrol range, a dark brown for the base, and then various greens and browns for the landscape on top.. :)

  • Interesting tutorial!

  • @2002And Just a quick-fix base.. :)

  • Whenever I think of doing a small diorama and giving some of my models a more living look, I find a problem as basic as stupid: the wooden base to start with. It seems they have none in the modelling shop I often go to whenever I need modelling material... *sigh*

  • @AlanMartinNala Try a small photo frame, with a wooden surround.. just remove the glass, and you have an excellent base.. :)

  • Wow, really intresting video! but the looping music is going to drive me CRAZY!

  • @terminator363 It did me, for sure.. :)

  • Cunning ;)! I have pollyfilla in my room, lightweight edition.

  • @GerbilEssences That's a good start.. :)

  • That's much easier than the way I used to do it. I would get some wood (which I normally found outside) and then I'd drip Elmer's Glue onto it.

While the glue got tacky, I'd go out into the woods, find some twigs, rocks, moss and dirt. I'd bring it all inside and make my diorama base. Not as easy as your technique but it was a bit adventurous. Nice job!

  • @NaturalTwentyFilms Sounds good enough to me.. :) :)

  • This video has gave me some great ideas. I have told you before about my kids destroying some of my hold kits to the point that they can no longer be rebuilt. I think its time I take them out of the box and build a graveyard diorama. I cam get some sand and a display and see how it works. I have more ideas than time thought.

Another great video thanks for posting.

  • @MisplacedTexan4 A graveyard diorama sounds like a good idea.. or a diorama of a crashed heli.. there's plenty options even for kits that are beyond repair.. :) Glad to be of some inspiration.. :)

  • Quite a challenge with a soundtrack like that to actually watch the video instead of dancing. I did the dancing this time through but I will come back another time and watch it on mute.

Kidding, I watched and danced. You made the diorama look easy. Great info.

  • @ToppervisionEnt Thank you... The last bit of your comment sums it up.. It IS supposed to be easy.. a quick base slung together in under an hour.. :) It's up to whoever makes one to add any extra bits like trees and shrubbery.. there's wasn't space for any on this particular base, though.. :)

  • Great idea! Did this one come to you when you were fixing a hole?

  • @fehquig Ha ha ha.. No, I have used fillers before, for this purpose.. but it's the first time I've tried it this way! Normally I buy a tub, but this is much easier.. :)

  • @youtyoober123 Thank you v. much.. :)

  • But how long it has to dry?

  • @BasicRevell Not long.. It took me less than an hour to make the base, as shown in the video.. It dries very quickly.. :) It's best to handle it before it gets too dry, though.. it's easier.. :)

  • WOW it is a easiest idea what i've seen to make diorama! just get that stuff and sum grass and your done! nice thx that was helpful!:):):)

  • @BasicRevell You're welcome..

  • @lapispinoza Strange you should say that.. I worked 19 years as a baker in Sweden... :)

  • My 1/72 kits came with bases! They are quite annoying to paint and weather though!

  • @ModelbuildingTANKS Sounds like the old Matchbox kits to me.. reisued by Revell! Am I right?? If so I think they're in 1/76...

You don't need to use those bases, you can still make your own.. :)

  • @BasicModelling Yup!

  • Now could you explain to me why youtube had to mess up the comment section worse than it ever was? *Rolls eyes at youtube*

  • @wildwyckedknight Because if we're all happy and content we would stop posting videos?? Oh, I don't know.. YouTube is YouTube.. :P

  • @BasicModelling lol, well said, um or writtin. :)

  • Looks nice. :)

  • @wildwyckedknight The base doesn't look too bad either.. :) :) :) :)

  • @BasicModelling Oh yes the base as well, as i was talking about your Eagle Oil shirt. :)

  • @wildwyckedknight Not the bald eagle what was wearing it, then?? :)

  • @BasicModelling Not sure really what the critter was, seemed friendly enough though. ;)

  • @wildwyckedknight Especially if you feed him Bananas.. :) :)

  • woow Rob, very nice !

  • @Zjwaamseliedjes Quick and easy, first and foremost.. :)

  • bugger, and theres me thinking it was milliput, great vid rob... :) hopefully tomorrow i should be making a vlog but not sure yet, dpeends what time i get up

  • @cestrianvlogger I'm going to carry on sorting my stuff out.. made a video of me sorting out the hobbycorner today.. will post tomorrow!! Have to do something to keep the old bat.. erh, dear wife happy.. :)

  • can you use normal filler ( indefinitely ) ??

  • @ECWoriginal95 I guess you can.. but I find this is easier as it comes out a tube, rather than a tub.. :)

  • do you get commision for plugging the polyfilla

you can use it for your models and even to keep your teeth in :P

    love and respect

    scotty and libby:o)

  • @scottytoohottie123 I tried it for my teeth, on your recommendation, and all I can say is 'MWWFGT URTGL SRGTHFW UMK BVRTR'..

So I gave up that idea..

  • I will make my diorama in one week, my vacations

  • @joelalcantar69 Yes, time off is best spent modelling.. :) :)

  • Very cool! Ty for the vid.

  • @atomicdog32 No problem.. that's what I'm here for.. :)

  • eek what happened to your cuticle?

    xoexo

  • @edenbainbridge Slight mishap the other day.. :(

  • very good!

  • @CapLAGOS I know.. :) :)

  • yes...crumbs...they and any leftovers from the fridge...or a local farmer's pasture or cow barn will do equally as well and the odor does wear off, in time, or so they say ...ok, joking aside, this is a nice vid tutorial and it looks very superb!!!

  • @granskare Not to say awestruckingly brilliant.. :)

  • Comment removed

  • @BasicModelling brilliance s my cross to bear but I do

  • Really handy video chap, I'm going to be doing a model railway diorama later in the year for a railway modelling forum im on, so some nice tips :-)

  • @DoctorTankEngine Good luck with that project.. anything is worth trying.. :)

  • @BasicModelling

Cheers Chap, it's for a comp

has to be no bigger than A1 piece of

paper, have some ideas and doing research

as it's to be an actual location

    modelled.

    Every little helps ;-)

  • @DoctorTankEngine Please post a video.. :)

  • wow i cant belief that you came up with the same idea, i first tried this a few months back it looks great for snow too :)

  • @froymot I guess it would look great for snow too, yes.. :) :)

  • @Catachan1brainleaf Aha.. Thanks for that handy idea.. I may just try it as I want to get round to making some trees in the future.. Great stuff!! :) :)

  • great vid as usual... as you know im building my firetruck, my question is... how or in what way would you present or display it? any ideas greatly appreciated bud : )

  • @dangerousprimate Apart from making a model of a house on fire, roughly to the same scale as the truck.. no, I haven't got a clue! Most fire engines and other large trucks I have seen have been displayed as built, just on their own.. I have seen a very nice diorama of a large timber truck in a snowy landscape, but that is about the only exemption.. so I guess you're best of just showing it 'as is'.. :) :)

  • thanks for the feedback buddy, since i asked the questioni have had an idea...!

  • @dangerousprimate Sounds good... :)

  • Cool, but I use a very very very different and method. Its more time consuming, but the resolt is uber realistic :)

  • @ArtistNR Time consuming isn't me, I'm afraid.. :) This is the quick and easy method.. then it's up to whoever does it to add realism, if they like.. :) :) I just show the basic stuff, as always.. ha ha ha ha.. It looks surprisingly good, once the model is stuck in place.. :)

  • isn't polyfilla something like gyproc?or is more like glue,no more nails?

  • @petrwarry72 It's a multipurpose filler, not a glue.. Mind you, I wouldn't use it as a filler on the model kits, but it's very good for filling holes and gaps in wood and similar.. :)

  • Can't beat a bit of Polyfilla on a Sunday!:)

  • @ajdpadbury You mean stuffed parrot for lunch?? :)

  • I've always wanted to do these jobs but I am very nervous and I could not take time out, this hitch is I have friends who do and then you feel very proud

    Thanks for these cool videos

  • @truckernacion Yes, a nicely done model does make you proud.. and I'm sure one day it will happen to me too.. :) :)

  • and you did it all on a chopping board so you can make a sandwich at the same time - brilliant idea!

  • @MrRandomWritings Oh crumbs.. I wish I had thought of that.. :)

  • @BasicModelling Well Polyfilla is a very under-rated sandwich filling you know - great alternative to a curry after a night out getting plastered!

  • Good advises!!! 5/5 stars!

  • @tankman13p66 Cheap, QUICK and easy.. :)

  • COOL

  • @OperationThrax It is an instant fix.. I would have added some shrubs and trees if the base had been larger.. :)

  • Great!!!

  • @moxie345 Just a general idea of how to make a quick and easy base.. :)

  • Nice man !

    Thank for this tutorial!

What color you painting "polafolia" tempers colours ?

  • Just Humbrol (enamel) no.29 'Dark Earth'.. :) You can use any paint you prefer.. :)
