  • Awesome art work! How many tris/polygons are the characters?

  • TBH I don't like the way hes designed, his hood just bugs me, having holds in it with his eyes popping out the sides, doesn't feel natural, considering there are no police so they don't have to hide their faces and having their hoods like that will just cloud their vision.

  • Oh and that final concept showcase bit with the segmented 3D painting was awesome. It adds a new way of showcasing paintings and concepts. It'd be great to see more of those.

  • I'm keen on pre-ordering, but I would feel alot more confortable (and I'm sure many other potential buyers aswell) if there was a demo released.

    Perhapse just a limited area or a small camp/town with just 2 character models available.

    Or even just a tech-demo.

    Persnonally I'd like a tech-demo. Like that hidden area + room that was in TES - Oblivion. I really got a fell for it with that when playing at a friend's house, then I bought it :3

  • wow, the footwork looks so clean and polished now. I like the character idea, can't wait to see the color pallette hook up with that one.

  • A kind of ninja/assassins bunny? Cool... any special power or a kind of specific weapon? (something like a brotherhood, whatever)

  • I'm sure you're already well aware of this but, remember to keep character design distinct enough so that players have no trouble recognizing the class from a distance. Teamfortress 2 is a perfect example.

  • a great co op mission would be you and a friend take on an army of raiders or even in the campaign

  • I am very happy with the clothing of these characters, that the raider looks like some hard core street rioter and similarly to the guard, their armour looks like some bulletproof vest. Similarly to the concrete-like monoliths, it's a beautiful blend of medieval(ish) and modern...

  • I'm calling it right now: in terms of popularity, this is going to be the next Minecraft.

    By the way, I intend on getting the Alpha for Christmas, so hopefully that'll be update 163. Can't wait to see what's in Overgrowth by that time :D

  • Your viewer base has gotten so much bigger since you started Overgrowth. It was a shame Lugaru, being the amazing game that it was, didn't get the publicity it deserved. It makes me happy to know that Overgrowth is going to change that :)

  • @ERKRAKANARB Uhhhhhh... I know. You completely missed the point. My point is that I found the unfinished guard pose, with his hands up, quite entertaining, and I think they should genuinely work it into the character, rather than give him the clenched fists of the other characters. Comprende?

  • I think it would look better if his ears were slightly bended back, like in the concept, and also if the blue of his cloak looked more washed-out. Other than that I think it looks amazing :)

  • I think they should make some normal game footage. Recording stuff like awesome fight scenes and going through levels and places.

  • If he has eye-holes, why won't his clothes cover his entire head? I can't really see the advantage of letting the mouth and nose be in the open.

  • @TimmysHQ Its not always about functionality in design. I guess he wanted to give the character a hoodie to give him a stealth/rogue like feel and the holes for the eyes give the design something unique, else it wouldnt be interesting to look at.

    yeah the engine is fully mod-able, theres example files and a wiki to show you what to do aswell.

    as Raider was the "most common" enemy, then i suppose they will be well balanced

    What software did you use before Blender?

  • The armor bit looks like a catchers protection gear from baseball... Dunno if thats good or not, just that it seems quite low on the character.

  • The "final concept" was... in cell-shaded 3D?! Why don't you use that effect in the main game--it looks absolutely stunning! I really liked the high contrast as well... I don't think the game's characters currently look "dirty", they just seem a bit ugly because the lack that beautiful high contrast and vibrant colours. Dynasty Warriors is an example of the opposite--really ugly models that look brilliant due to the beautiful choice of colours!

  • While I agree it looked awesome and it would be a great look for the game if they could pull it off, that wasn't a 3d model at all, it was just the image morphed a bit to look 3d.

  • @johnanth it isn't cell shaded 3d, just a 2d concept projected over a 3d surface so it has volume. but i also agree, the concept is better thant the 3d and the texture could be done better with that style

  • I liked when you had the mesh over the eyes at 0:45, but then you erased it and I was like "aww"

    That chest piece definitely needs to be bigger though, or at least move it up to his chest instead of his belly.
