I recently uploaded (and added annotations to) four videos about this game detailing various aspects of the gameplay and showing one way to complete the first mission from the beginning to the end. I chose to post them as Video Responses and I hope that they answer to any questions that you might have about this game.
I watched your playthrough for the first mission. That's a very good demonstration for a complex game. Nice to see you also added useful info with annotations.
damn, ive been wondering what game this was for ages..only found its name by googling "spectrum game, chaff" the chaff part was all i could remember
needless to say I was terrible at it, couldnt even find any of the camps. Think my old man got me to one once but i snatched the controller off him and got killed instantly. Good times.
I always liked the flying parts, once your in the air you have to push up and fire to increase the speed and I think it was the # key where you then inputted the coordinates like 72.8 and then it set it on the compass for you to fly to. I finished the game but it took a lot of time and drawing out a lot of maps lol, definitely one of my fave c64 games though.
I never really uhnderstood this game, even though I had the Original (in a pack of 10 games, without manual though). I don't know how long i sat in fron t of the screen trying to get that damn heli to lift off, then one time it did but I was so excited that i instantly crashed it down again..
The flying part was very complicated. You have to set coordinates to fly to the enemy base. If you are attacked, watch if the 'R' or 'H' is flashing. If 'H' flashes, shoot a flare. If "R" flashes drop some chaff.
I remember having to hold a button to toggle modes for the controls, like to fly forward, push the button and press up.
I beat this game on the NES which might've been easier with the controls distilled down to just the control pad.
yeah this sure brings back a lot of memories i guess we were there from the beginin kids growin up in these times would prob say we played a lotta crap but this sh** was awesome and u can really appriciate how far gamin has come...
This was an amazing game, I loved the covert stuff when I was a kid and the idea of chinging into a janitor outfit to snoop around, taking pics of plans and being asked for papers while gassing bad guys was amazing for the time.
he sure loves to hump everything he searches... :P

Thanks for commenting. This is a pretty complex game on c64 standards. Please leave a comment or video if you figure out something I missed here.
