rolls eyes the new series music doesnt work on half of these old series trailers re-makes why do ppl bother with it ??? it just doesn't work as the pace of the old series is a lot slower than the new so the dramatic music just jars.
@thecamerong18 you killed me sir, you really did. ( mental image of a senile doctor walking while peeing at the same time). I really can't stop laughing!.
@SwordMaster515 I agree with you in ten billions ways, and I say your suggestion is a bloody excellent one in billions of ways. The Cybermen in this story are ten billion times better than in the eighties stories, I like the Cybermens voices in this story they are very mechanical and they are penetrating like electric razors these Cybermen are superb. Peter Davison did not like this mark of cybermen, still he is entitled to his view I disagree with what he says on the subject but I like them.
@darthlego100 I disagree. Given their weird speech patterns and how human-but-not-human-at-all they looked back then (more like robots now, thanks to better effects), I find them much more disturbing than the new Cybermen.
@flashrobbie I agree with your idea, of having the fourth episode animated and hopefully released on dvd that would bee excellent in every way I hope it happens one day in the foreseeable future.
I think the BBC should animate episode 4 like on The Invasion DVD because all of the other regeneration episode can come out, and some are already out!
Well, its been 10 years since I first saw it lol so I had a 5 year start sort of. I think some of the best episodes are from the 60's, like "The Invasion" and "The Dalek Invasion Of Earth". Even those fw Jon Pertwee episodes like "Mind Of Evil" are great, I don't think I want to see them in colour lol
Seriously though, it's cooler than cool to see a 16 year old scorning the new show in favor of the old, with it's crap effects. That's usually enough to scare away any non-discerning individual below the age of 30 these days.
If you get anywhere with that idea of 2 seconds in a story equating the whole thing to shit, then I'll buy myself a huge helmet with feathers on it, and eat it.
Yeah, I cant stand teenagers - especially the ones who think they are 'the shit' when they're really just spotty youths with a grandiose sense of self worth.
That's right - you're not writing for anything because you're a kid. You've got a love story in production, do ya? I guess you're an expert on love and interpersonal relationships also, then, are ye? Why not set yourself down as a psychologist?
Maybe the rejection you're bound to receive from the BBC due to your lack of experience will open your eyes.
Best of luck, though. We need more egos in the business - they're so entertaining.
Ofcourse you are a good writer - with no experience of any kind. You're a kid. To even think that you are a better writer than an industry giant is really quite... well, sociopathic, to be honest. Hallmark of a teenager - great big ego with no foundation. Hope you grow out of it, or your life shall not be an easy one.
An expert on the world wars too, are you? Wow. Honestly, this is too entertaining to give up reading. Do keep the claims coming, kiddo.
I wonder why you arent writing television - you seem to be such an expert *LOL*
The whole story doesnt fall apart because of some fudging, which is present in pretty much every film and television series - but only the teenage mind will focuse on those small idiosyncrasies and decide that the whole story is garbage. That, my dear fellow, just makes absolutely no sense.
Best of luck with your continued adventures in this world we call ours.
Talk about delusions of grandeur - Russel T Davies, award-winning and acclaimed writer, stand aside - there's a 16 year old child who believes he writes better than you do. Please, talk about delusions of bloody grandeur.
Grow up, squirt - you are not the center of the world, and you are not an expert on ANYTHING. Try again in 10 - 15 years.
Oh, I see. A 16 year old. "The angry young man" telling us it's grap, and that his opinion is the one to go by. Typically sociopathic, the hallmark of the teenage brain. Still you'll grow out of it, most likely.
Unfortunately, it turns out the income made from sales of The Invasion DVDs wasn't enough to break even with the costs of the animation. So they don't wish to repeat the same mistake. Although for Tenth Planet, they only need to reconstruct the missing fourth episode, where in The Invasion, they had to reconstruct episodes one and four.
odd, considering they only paid 4000 pounds for the animation... Surely, with time, that will break even. I'm positive the last ep of Tenth Planet will be animated at some point in time.
Because the Cybermen are still alive, they wanted people to see what the old cybermen looked like after the episodes with them in the new series 2. So you'll find on the classic episode guide that most episodes with the cybermen have video clips. There are only 2 that the BBC could find for this certain episode. After the 4th doctor, someone wiped some data from BBC, and resulted in losing some doctor who info as well.
To clarify, the only missing Cyberman episodes are: Tenth Planet Ep.4, The Moonbase Eps1&3, The Wheel in Space Eps 1,2,4&5, The Invasion Eps 1&4. All other appearances of the Cybermen still exist as 16mm film recordings or PAL Videotapes. There are not "only two clips" from this episode found at the BBC, the story is 4 episodes long and three complete episodes do exist. The old series was structured differently, each story was several episodes long.
Have to disagree with you there. I think ANY missing episode of Doctor Who is a massive loss, whether the Cybermen are in it or not. Both episodes 1 and 3 are wonderfully suspenseful, spooky and taut. The animated recreations are wonderful and only makes me long for what was lost.
The Tenth Planet Episode 4 I think was 'lost' and not wiped, it is known at 1 point episode 4 was at BBC entiprises trying to be sold abroad, but this I think was untill the early 1970s (around 1971 they stopped trying to sell it), and it is known that as of 1973 all doctor who episodes where complete, from late 73 they started wiping them, so I think that it was moved from enterprises somewhere unknown till this day and not wiped.
Absolutely right, LightningT5. Several episodes of "The Ice Warriors" were found when the BBC was moving facilities, so maybe more old Doctor Who episodes will be found when they vacate Television Centre. Fingers crossed!
Was a bit dissapointing that the remaining episodes didnt make it onto the "Lost in time" dvds only stuff from the tenth planet was the regeneration scene... perhaps they should consider releasing what they have of it or something without episode 4?
ye i think they should do that and also completely reanimate Power of and evil of the daleks 9apart frm ep2 of evil) coz i'd really like to see those ones.(properly)
No... episode 4 is still floating around somewhere, unclaimed. I doubt the BBC has stopped looking, like that other poster said, though. There are missing episode hunts all the time - they're in Zambia right now, searching through the archives of a TV station that aired classic who.
