@gluemanred, you're absolutely right. I was a Chevy man (1957, 1966, 1967) until I traded in my 1979 Malibu for a 1988 Mustang GT. Those 283s and 327s were incredible motors, and even my 396 (1967) was nice, despite the weight, but that 5.0 liter just keeps getting stronger and sounding better every time I drive it. I'm on my 2nd set of FM American Thunders but Summer 2011 will have me sitting over BBK headers and Xp-pipe, low resistance cats (2, not 4) and a nice set of Pypes. Can't wait.

@MrJaybird93000 more like 99 percent of the poplatuon don't care about drag racing. Why do you think people around the world drive f1 instead of dumb drag racing or nascar circle track. Cars that can run fast in a straight line is less useful in real world drivers. Cars are more than how fast it can run down a straight track. Cars have suspension, braking, handling, not just straight horsepower.

@gluemanred the thing that makes them run the way they do is the OHC or DOHC setups in the newer Modular engines thats why they are so smooth even with a heavy cam and alot of valve overlap they run good

@samwiserich once again, all Americans are concerned with is how fast a car can go on a straightaway. e.g. drag racing and the circular nascar.

put a mustang vs an import on any real road courses with actual twists and turns and the imports will win every time.

mustangs are excessively loud with no handling, similar to a train.

I know what my car can do against all my import friends and not one of them has been able to out perform or handle better than what I've been able to do. And talking about the noise.... to me mustangs are some of the best sounding vehicles ever made, all ya'll imports sound like someone farting into a can "fart boxes". Sounds like your goin fast buy your not.

@abshih yea, but 99% of the population could care less about track racing. Most people with fast cars are concerned with how it runs on their streets, on a flat, straight area. So basically, drag racing is how people street race here, not cutting through neighborhoods or parking lots... So for most US drivers who enjoy running their car hard, a mustang is going to be favored over a built import.
