The biggest dog ever has been dead for a while. He was an Old English Mastiff and weighted 350 pounds. There are some books with his picture. Don't have the name of the book, but own 4 mastiffs and they are the biggest dogs I have ever seen.

@vmax981200 I think what this person ment to say was tallest dog. I have a mastiff too and a saint bernard body wise they are bigger than the wolfhound and dane. though the danes and wolfhounds are taller on average. I also have a dane but there is now way he will ever out weigh my st and mastiff.

I see a lot of size variying from kangal to kangal. and in there country most of the people are very small making the dog look bigger. i see some that look 28" and some that look 35". it all depends who is standing next to them. now they also claim bully kutta to be the tallest dog too i have honestly not seen one over 33" they don't look very big in my opinion. i think wolfhounds are still considered taller because consistantly they are very big.

Anyone who calls a dog "ugly" has a lower iq than the average dung beetle. Why are you in a pissing contest about having the biggest dog when YOUR breed is not even NEAR the biggest there is. Great Danes are one of the "tallest" breeds but they look positively small nest to a well bred English Mastiff, Mastin Espanol or even a Saint Bernard. "Tall" is NOT "big".

Secondly, the Irish Wolfhound hold the record for the tallest dog... in GENERAL. NOT the Great dane. Both are tall dogs some more then others, but the majority of the time, IWH's are taller.
