  • they sampled peter gabriel sledge hammer for the chorus. man i remember seeing this i had it on cassette i tape recordered it off my tv on a hand held tape recorder!

  • This song brings back memories...great song graduated in "91

  • one of the first orginal whiteboys hip hop groups like beastie boys. just blaze!

  • So right, skill not color.

  • 30 people dont get cookies

  • I love this song...sooooo funny

  • That's where Lil B got the cooking dance

  • You gotta be old school to remember this Vanilla Ice diss.

  • Eminence front

  • Continued....... Helluva entertainer and gifted dancer. He would've gained more respect by his peers if he had given credit where credit was due. Just saying.........."WORD TO YOUR MUTHA!!

  • You're missing the point of what 3rd Bass is trying to make about Vanilla Ice. Everyone knows that most rap is about sampling but also giving credit to those OG's who made the music. Ice didn't do that at all, he denied that he used "Under Pressure" by Bowie/Queen in an interview with MTV (at that time) and stated that it wasn't the same song and the difference was 1 beat(very Stupid). Eventhough he didn't go about it the right way, I saw him in concert in ATL 91' and he is a helluva an entert

  • Its funny that 3RD BASS ragged on VANILLA for sampling other artist work but 3rd Bass needed vanilla to have their only #1 song Now 2 decades later we are following ice and can barely remember the name 3rd bass and only remember them because of vanilla

  • @C10WOODY it's more than using a sample is why they diss vanilla...hip hop was built on sampling...they dissin vanilla ices' whole style period. he was corny, and if you a true fan of hip hop you would know they(3rd bass) had many hits "back to the grill" "gas face" just to name two more. 3rd bass are legends in hip hop! vanilla ice is remembered for being a douche bag. vanilla ice was "pop" 3rd bass will forever be hip hop!

  • vanilla ice is the best!!!

  • sledge hammer

  • We need a remake of this song to diss mainstream rap today.

  • Ice goes the baby cause the baby goes ice

  • Pop goes da weezo. They say: "da weezo" - not "the weasel"? Wieso - da weezo?

  • Did they get permission from Peter Gabriel to use Sledgehammer??............. Irony

  • @MegaRudeBoy69 it's hip hop. sampling is a key element to the music creation. I don't think it should be considered stealing.

  • @Jagspear Ummm, i know that. It's just that they rap about looping a pop hit being whack and they do it themselves. Kinda ironic, nes pas?

  • @MegaRudeBoy69 yes they did get permission!

  • If its feb 12 - 09. They suck vanilla ice shitz

  • When was this video made

  • SLEDGE HAMMER 1986

  • There is nuthin' more pimp than Pete Nice in that chair with his cigar & cane!

  • Remember wen MTV used to show good music videos

  • aww yeaaah!

  • Ive got the live mtv " spring break" version of this on vhs. Richie rich scratches one hell of a mix and down town Julie brown is mesmerized by it. How do I post this stuff I have several Rap/Rock mtv collections that they did...

  • 26 people are" Vanilla Ice" fans... I've always remembered this video! sitting at home, during the summertime, watching "YO! MTV Raps" with Fab 5 Freddy, and laughing at this video... Nothing like seeing an old school, early 90's beat down! Ah, those were the days... Good times! :-)

  • woah... the ending is pretty damn brutal if you ask me... :-D

  • SO MANY MEMORIES....SO LITTLE TIME!!

  • MCSrch...."I should've started R.A.P.E....Rap Against Phony Entertainers." Ha -- more relevant today than it was in '91. Bring the good stuff back, pleeeeeze!

  • Srch > Pete Nice.

  • "It's '91 so something's gotta change!" I feel old now. Thanks youtube. :(

  • Pop Goes the Ferret.

  • Just got this lp!

  • i love how the one white dude still dances in shackles

  • Pete Nice all laid back while herappin. White boy got swag

  • Im black but whites dont get enough credit for their mic skills

  • @TJHanna94 Mc serch is an exception, whites do not have mc skills usually. Mc serch was the only white rapper truly accepted by the black community back then.

  • @axilmar skill not color

  • @colturn12 But as it happens, black people are more skilled at rapping than whites.

  • Pete Nice wrote a book rectently. 3rd Bass wasnt that large. They had skills and were on Def Jam but I mean, c'mon.

  • Rollins is great!

  • Derelicts of Dialect is one of the greatest Hip-Hop albums of all time.

  • Damn MCsurge can dance

  • hey aint that henry rollins as vanilla ice?

  • As much as v-ice sucked cut the guy some slack. He was naive and 1 million bucks are hard to resist . Im sure that me and most of you would have taken the money even if this would lead to professional suicide.

  • Hard to believe that for a while, these guys were the coolest guys in the world!!

  • @JohnnySydewynde Hard to believe Eminem as ever been cool.

  • I Like 3rd Bass. Good 90's!!!

  • I love how they sampled Sledgehammer to make this.

  • Man, Vanilla Ice came out when I was like 9 and I thought he was wack then. However, I did like Hammer. I think it was cuz he had cereal money.

  • Damn, that Brunette dancer is smokin'!! I think she just made me pop my weasel.

  • R.A.P.E.

  • Kanye says that that was the greatest video of all time..... OF ALL TIME!!!!!

  • Wannabe Beastie Boys? Ok. Search was on records alone in the mid 80's ... Not even tryin' to sound like the Beasties.

  • Str8 up non commercialized hiphop!

  • @IceManLikeGervin The irony is that this was a huge commercial hit for 3rd Bass.

  • HA! I forgot about these wanna-be Beastie Boys! About a week after I heard them! HA!

  • Maaaaaaaaaaan that takes me back..pop goes the weasel on the old cassette walkman on my way to skool in 1992 hahahahaha.

  • meh I aint really feelin this

  • these guys are barely better than vanilla ice. and its not cuz theyr white. they just suck

  • @borat27 lol barely better than vanilla ice? have you heard their albums? sooo who to you was dope?

  • @borat27 Vanilla Ice was a fad, taking the contract from REAL talent... 3rd bass was real Hip=Hop... funny... you are checking this shit out...

  • Those weasels are so cute.

  • This video seems to make fun of Vanilla Ice because he sampled music, but then they do the same thing with this video? What the fuck.

  • @mccarrpo

It wasn't that Vanilla Ice sampled music, it's that he said he didn't sample it when he obviously ripped off "Under Pressure." He claimed it wasn't a sample, and his ass got sued. I'm sure Peter Gabriel gave his permission for this sample, but Queen and David Bowie didn't give it to Vanilla Ice.

Rob Van Winkle also wasn't from the streets as he claimed, he was a perpetrating rich kid from the burbs.

  • @thinkcwik um if u listen to vinila ices version and then queens version theer is a difference in them ice didnt sample the whole thing queen did

  • @compwiz878 Do you know anything about HIP-HOP? Peep the shitz from the begining in the 70's... Vanilla Ice's producer sampled Queen, period. Fuck that, "I changed 1/32 of a second..." lol. Ice's producers didn't even chop it... only put it on top of a beat. Pop Goes The Weasel's use of Sledgehammer is much more original.

  • @djmmcee David Bowie ... who also got ripped off by P Diddy on "Lets Dance"

  • @thinkcwik

All rap artists sampled. When To the Extreme came out, not all of the licensing had cleared. Vanilla Ice couldn't go on TV and say "Yeah, we stole that beat for the song" because that would have just been an already bad situation worse. He later paid both Bowie and Queen and eventually bought the song 'Under Pressure' so he could use it any way that he wants to.

Also he was not a rich kid from the burbs. Get your facts straight.

  • @mccarrpo They're being ironic. google that word.

  • @mccarrpo No, it makes fun of Vanilla Ice because he was wack and weak. The essence of real Hip-Hop includes sampling.

  • 3:04 Pete Nice is SIC!

  • Search was a trip, his vids were funny.

  • Sweet sample. The whole Vanilla Ice dis is kind of weak.

  • @kanelitwiniec They didn't want to end his career, they are nice white rappers. that's why they didn't kill him.

  • That's Henry Rollins as Vanilla Ice

  • Pop Goes the Weasel, and they CROSSED OVER WITH IT! Can you say IRONY!

  • Yo that is week ya'll. For real.

  • This song was the f'n jam back in the day.

  • ,,, and the Stevie Wonder sample ... LOVE IT!

  • I LOVE Serch ... still sexy! When is the next season of White rapper coming out?

  • @totalvicky right now.asher, yelawolf,em,alot of people..you just gotta look for em.

  • @totalvicky roflmao Serch has always been a buster...

  • @totalvicky This just shows you how every 10-15 yrs stuff gets recycled. Thats why I just play all the stuff from the '00 on back on my PC from the Discs I have from 25 yrs ago.

  • I LOVE Serch ... still sexy! When is the next season of White rapper coming out?

  • Remember when rap had a message and the music was tight? This is a damn good example!

  • It's not meant to be racist in any way but Pete Nice and MC Serch never sounded like white boys rappin. Really dope voices and flows. Loved the whole album, no weak song on it.

  • this is one of the tackiest things I have ever watched or listened to.

  • @bench595 This was an era when hip-hop was trying to go mainstream & real rappers didn't like the idea. This song is a shot at the artist who tried to be mainstream & keep street cred. REAL HIP HOP FAM!

  • @JoeLUL Vanilla Ice? C'mon man-he was a poser of the worst kind

  • well iguess 17 weasels saw this video

  • vanilla ice paid his dues and got money now where these guys at?

  • @foundintranslation3 lol wtf u talking vanilla ice is a nobody now mc use to have a show on mtv which was very popular

  • rollins, ftw.

  • LOL These guys love Vanilla Ice sooo much they had to do a video about him..Trying to dance, using someone else's beat..If people are talking about you, then your doing it all RIGHT FUNNY at their 100k hits on this and Vice's 15mill Even to this day he is still well known, as for these guys I had to find searching Vice's vids HAHA at the guy holding the cigar and the fat guy trying to dance FAIL!, I feel the only funny out there about Ice is Jim Carey's vid..That still makes me laugh

  • 2:25 ...

    Damn Serch!!

I'd rather learn how to do that then how to Dougie.

  • @AngusYoung48 WHAT IS THAT STEP CALLED i wanna learn that is looks so ill

  • STOP IT!

  • Back in 1991 this group was playing nonstop in my tape deck, lol. I'd never seen the video until now. I had no idea it was about Vanilla Ice.

  • @kokomotoysonline It's also about MC Hammer and other mainstream rappers.

  • 0JD $CH00J

  • look at mc serch today, also contributing with the selling out and watering down of hiphop, hosting that abomination "the white rapper show"

  • "you stole somebodys record then you looped it you looped it" hope these guys didnt get sued by Peter Gabriel for this loop lol

  • @festolium Don't forget about The Who sample, that's in their as well.

  • @festolium

I think the point was Vanilla Ice used the Queen/David Bowie sample without getting permission first, not that they're against sampling...hence the Peter Gabriel sample.

  • fucking oddball, also see "back to the hotel" by whites 2 deep

  • ill Say This. It Has a Gay Beat. The Rappers Suck. But Its WAY Better Than Hip Hop i mean, Fucked Hop 2day.

  • this guy discovered nas, respect!

  • pop goes weasle

    hell yeah

  • Loved this back in the days but only now realizing now how tight the lyrics were... never noticed those titties back then either...... damm

  • Lezeira da gota......

  • Didn't the dude playin Vanilla Ice sing for Black Flag

  • @ryguy270 - Yeah, Henry Rollins... I never realized that was him in the video!

  • That means reivenlocke and the magik 86

  • Thumbs up this video if the two dudes and or chicks made your roflboat tip over!!!

  • Must listen to Sledgehammer now I love 3rd Bass!!!!!

  • Using Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel as a response to Vanilla Ice using Under Pressure by Queen/David Bowie. That is a cold response right there.

  • @whoahyeah youre absolutely right it makes no sense.. by the way ice was way better

  • @TheMagiK86

Vanilla Ice had ONE song, the disdain of the entire rap community and was continually dissed at music awards. 3rd Bass were some of the first white rappers to truly gain respect. They have a more enduring legacy.

  • @reivenlocke even today we heard talk about Ice, and he has more than one song, had is own movie you like it or not, there was dolls made and much more, the man was huge and despite all the critics i bet at some point of your life you liked Vanilla Ice

  • @TheMagiK86

Wow....Cooler Than Ice? I bet Elizabeth Berkley is more proud of ShowGirls than Vanilla Ice is proud of that massive flop. And as for hearing talk about him now, show me somewhere where he has been talked about not as the butt of a joke.

  • @reivenlocke Say what you want you probably hate vanilla ice and dont even know why, as for me ive always liked his rap songs not his today music, and not you and nobody else will make me hate him, for me he was a great artist way ahead for is time.

  • @TheMagiK86

I wasn't trying to make you hate him, but you vastly overestimate his place in the hip-hop pantheon.

  • @reivenlocke Ok, but i just dont understand why many people hate the guy for no reason, you for example why dont you like him?

  • @TheMagiK86

    Three of the biggest reasons:

    1) He was reppin Miami as a gimmick. He was about as "real" as the Easter Bunny.

    2) M.C. Hammer put him on as his opening act when he was coming up and then when "Ice Ice Baby" was a hit, he started saying that "I don't open for Hammer. Hammer closes for me. Ain't no one bigger than the Iceman." . What an ingrate.

    3) Lied about not sampling "Under Pressure".

  • @reivenlocke ok now listen 1) you should see more of vanilla ice history in miami and some videos here on youtube about those days

    2) he said he was getting more applauds than mc hammer thats not being ingrate, see his arsenio hall interview.

3)he said he sampled from them but it was not the same bass line, and after that he payed like every other artist who sample.

    4) and c'mon thats no reason for you the hate the guy

  • @TheMagiK86

    1) He was from a Texas well to do family and not forged from the mean streets of Miami. He was Texas born, Texas made, and signed in Texas. He was in Miami for a cup of coffee.

    2) He did NOT! I read the Vibe Magazine back in the day when he said the line I just gave you. Don't bullshit a bullshitter.

    3) Yes it was, and he broke down and admitted it.

You want to apologize for him? Fine, but don't lie for him.

  • Oh, and I meant "Source" and not "Vibe". That was on my tongue for some reason.

  • @reivenlocke don't give that i bet you like him. Nobody hates for those reasons otherwise you hate almost every artist. The man was cool and you know it.

  • @TheMagiK86

    No. I don't. Really.

  • @reivenlocke Don't be like that.

  • @TheMagiK86 Man just in purpose ive just know that Vanilla Ice is coming to my country for the first time august 28, i can t miss it

  • Ummm to AZRocky...I thought Pop Goes the Weasel was a hit...lol

It also made the list of 100 greatest rap songs. It was the shit back then. Imo, it still is :-)

  • Vanilla Ice sucked, no question, but these guys just seem bitter that everyone but them had a hit. Also, they're using a prominent sample as well...

  • Music wise this, to me, is their weakest song. They were capable of so much better. I do agree with the message though. They were wrong for dissing the Beastie Boys though but still like 3rd Bass.

  • Damn, this takes me back.

  • I loved how that bitch ass fagget Vanilla Ice got ripped a brand new asshole. It'z so sad n' unfortunate that I happen 2 know a 50 year old white guy who classifies "Ice Ice Baby" az the only real rap joint he'z evre heard.

  • vv idiot

  • This song is fucking hilarious, white guys using TWO samples to talk shit about another white guy who sampled,MC Serch really wants to be black, but he's just too Jewish,he looks like a rabbi not a rapper

  • @teedzy3 its mainly the fact that he didnt acknowledge the main sample, even once he got sued he tried to say it was a coincidence. plus they just felt that his overly commercial approach was not good for rap. they also dissed mc hammer for his whoring to pepsi and such, so it wasnt because vanilla ice was white. i think also they wanted to be taken seriously as white rappers and felt ice was just a clown, reflecting badly on them.

  • But 3rd Bass was the sh*t!!!! I miss those days!! Lll

  • Sorry 99.9% Caucasians can't rap. Stick to Country.

  • @makamalu u are a idiot i am black and do u here the shit 3rd base was saying way back then? eminem is white too he cant rap? shut yo racist ass up mc serch got mad respect from all the black rappers back then so if they respect him in a era where u had to be nice then ur opinion means nothing dik head sit yo ass down

  • this was the shit Jay Z who ......

  • this was the shit Jay Z who ......

  • umm WTF!?!?!

  • einfach nur Top! das sind coole erinnerungen an die jungen "wannabe" zeiten ;o)

  • Fantastic memories, great video.

  • they keep it fucking real. Loved them....

  • Holy shit! It is the defacto Henry Rollins as Vanilla Ice! LOL

  • I can't help but thinking: posers or parody

  • Posers? Hardly. Highly respected classic golden age hip hop crew.

  • I'm sure they are... But I can't help it, I keep thinking: posers or parody :S

    Zorrie :P

  • oh men....LOL

  • Pete went in

  • Can MC Serch be any worse at dancing? It is pretty funny to look back at this song. I love Henry Rollins as Vanilla Ice... to funny!

  • That's Henry Rollins? Holy fuck! haha I never knew that.

  • Definitely, I've gotta agree

I got a squad with a list of complainers

    I should've start R.A.P.E.

    Rappers Against Phony Entertainers

This song has some of the best lyrics I've ever heard. And I didn't know Henry Rollins dressed up as Vanilla Ice for this vid. Fucking awesome.
