You're missing the point of what 3rd Bass is trying to make about Vanilla Ice. Everyone knows that most rap is about sampling but also giving credit to those OG's who made the music. Ice didn't do that at all, he denied that he used "Under Pressure" by Bowie/Queen in an interview with MTV (at that time) and stated that it wasn't the same song and the difference was 1 beat(very Stupid). Eventhough he didn't go about it the right way, I saw him in concert in ATL 91' and he is a helluva an entert
Its funny that 3RD BASS ragged on VANILLA for sampling other artist work but 3rd Bass needed vanilla to have their only #1 song Now 2 decades later we are following ice and can barely remember the name 3rd bass and only remember them because of vanilla
@C10WOODY it's more than using a sample is why they diss vanilla...hip hop was built on sampling...they dissin vanilla ices' whole style period. he was corny, and if you a true fan of hip hop you would know they(3rd bass) had many hits "back to the grill" "gas face" just to name two more. 3rd bass are legends in hip hop! vanilla ice is remembered for being a douche bag. vanilla ice was "pop" 3rd bass will forever be hip hop!

@bench595 This was an era when hip-hop was trying to go mainstream & real rappers didn't like the idea. This song is a shot at the artist who tried to be mainstream & keep street cred. REAL HIP HOP FAM!
LOL These guys love Vanilla Ice sooo much they had to do a video about him..Trying to dance, using someone else's beat..If people are talking about you, then your doing it all RIGHT FUNNY at their 100k hits on this and Vice's 15mill Even to this day he is still well known, as for these guys I had to find searching Vice's vids HAHA at the guy holding the cigar and the fat guy trying to dance FAIL!, I feel the only funny out there about Ice is Jim Carey's vid..That still makes me laugh
I think the point was Vanilla Ice used the Queen/David Bowie sample without getting permission first, not that they're against sampling...hence the Peter Gabriel sample.

3) Yes it was, and he broke down and admitted it.
You want to apologize for him? Fine, but don't lie for him.
@reivenlocke don't give that i bet you like him. Nobody hates for those reasons otherwise you hate almost every artist. The man was cool and you know it.
Music wise this, to me, is their weakest song. They were capable of so much better. I do agree with the message though. They were wrong for dissing the Beastie Boys though but still like 3rd Bass.
I loved how that bitch ass fagget Vanilla Ice got ripped a brand new asshole. It'z so sad n' unfortunate that I happen 2 know a 50 year old white guy who classifies "Ice Ice Baby" az the only real rap joint he'z evre heard.
This song is fucking hilarious, white guys using TWO samples to talk shit about another white guy who sampled,MC Serch really wants to be black, but he's just too Jewish,he looks like a rabbi not a rapper
@teedzy3 its mainly the fact that he didnt acknowledge the main sample, even once he got sued he tried to say it was a coincidence. plus they just felt that his overly commercial approach was not good for rap. they also dissed mc hammer for his whoring to pepsi and such, so it wasnt because vanilla ice was white. i think also they wanted to be taken seriously as white rappers and felt ice was just a clown, reflecting badly on them.
@makamalu u are a idiot i am black and do u here the shit 3rd base was saying way back then? eminem is white too he cant rap? shut yo racist ass up mc serch got mad respect from all the black rappers back then so if they respect him in a era where u had to be nice then ur opinion means nothing dik head sit yo ass down

Three of the biggest reasons:

2) M.C. Hammer put him on as his opening act when he was coming up and then when "Ice Ice Baby" was a hit, he started saying that "I don't open for Hammer. Hammer closes for me. Ain't no one bigger than the Iceman." . What an ingrate.
3) Lied about not sampling "Under Pressure".
reivenlocke 1 year ago
@reivenlocke ok now listen 1) you should see more of vanilla ice history in miami and some videos here on youtube about those days
2) he said he was getting more applauds than mc hammer thats not being ingrate, see his arsenio hall interview.
3)he said he sampled from them but it was not the same bass line, and after that he payed like every other artist who sample.
4) and c'mon thats no reason for you the hate the guy

Music wise this, to me, is their weakest song. They were capable of so much better. I do agree with the message though. They were wrong for dissing the Beastie Boys though but still like 3rd Bass.

I loved how that bitch ass fagget Vanilla Ice got ripped a brand new asshole. It'z so sad n' unfortunate that I happen 2 know a 50 year old white guy who classifies "Ice Ice Baby" az the only real rap joint he'z evre heard.

This song is fucking hilarious, white guys using TWO samples to talk shit about another white guy who sampled,MC Serch really wants to be black, but he's just too Jewish,he looks like a rabbi not a rapper
teedzy3 1 year ago
@teedzy3 its mainly the fact that he didnt acknowledge the main sample, even once he got sued he tried to say it was a coincidence. plus they just felt that his overly commercial approach was not good for rap. they also dissed mc hammer for his whoring to pepsi and such, so it wasnt because vanilla ice was white. i think also they wanted to be taken seriously as white rappers and felt ice was just a clown, reflecting badly on them.

Rappers Against Phony Entertainers
This song has some of the best lyrics I've ever heard. And I didn't know Henry Rollins dressed up as Vanilla Ice for this vid. Fucking awesome.
