The Pacers played the Lakers for the NBA championship in 2000. Larry Bird was the Pacers coach and he screwed us, the Pacers, by playing his buddy Chris Mullin over Jalen Rose. Mullin was a good player in his day with Golden State, but he was an old, washed up player with the Pacers. All Mullin did was get beat defensively and brick three pointers. Jalen was in his prime and could have helped slow down Kobe. Shame on you Bird!!!
3:37(Bird to Mchale) is something he used to do a lot but doesn't show up in highlights;a bat pass;he redirects a pass to him without ever possessing it,"batting" it to a teammate -I remember when he was in the middle on the fast break,he'd dazzle with that.. an NBA announcer said Lebron was on his passing level-Respect to lebron-but that's insanity..
Bird would constantly set up McHale so much that he had to develop new skills to cope after Bird retired lol. McHale didn't start shooting threes until Bird retired.
Thank for posting. The 3rd pass shown is against Akeem Olijawaun and gets bounced BETWEEN his legs!!! The tip pass to McHale, the thread the needle passes in traffic and full length court bombs just show that Bird had the best hands and court vision in basketball and was the most creative and best passer ever. Truly a point guard talent in a big body that could shoot lights out and rebound. There will never be another Larry Bird.
@mrho4speed I'm going through old Bird videos and discovering how often he did that;I'm up to 3 so far*The most famous being poor Jack Sikma,of course
@mrbriscoe2001 The 3rd one that I'm aware of is the pass between Joe Barry Carrol's legs when he played for Golden State - shown on Merc's video "greatest passer". I once read in Sports Illustrated (but can't find the copy) where toward the end of his career vs either Orlando Magic or the Miami Heat he made a behind the back bounce pass between the legs of the defender to a cutting Celtic for a layup. The opposing coach called time out and the fans watched in awe of the replay on the big screen
@mrbriscoe2001 Yes, he had to feel like "I can't believe you just did that to me on national TV". The best was the reaction of the Celtic bench and Tommy Heinson's commentary afterward about "put that in the can!" He knew it was a classic Bird improvisation that displayed true brilliance and it was funny! He could not stop laughing while trying to focus on continuing to announce the game.
@mrbriscoe2001 There is another upload titled "Bird is the word" and a great shot of Bird making a bounce pass between the legs of Dallas player Uwe Blap to a cutting DJ for a layup. The reaction of Blap is to try and close his legs but its too late - the ball is already gone and its 2 points. So I believe that makes 4 - Sikma, Akeem Olajuwon, Joe Barry Carole and Blap. Whats scary is I'm sure there were more than these 4. What a passer and what vision!!!
even i can the whole court, i still have no idea who he passing.. truly amazing.

Whenever a white player who's over 6'7" and can shoot the 3 is called "The next Larry Bird," they need to be redirected to this video.

@mrho4speed Good Points;the funniest is the Sikma video,though;and Sikma was a good ballplayer;but if I was him-I'd hate Bird a little. Peace.

@mrho4speed A lot of the 1960's era Celtic ganes are up on Youtube now; it's funny;Heinsohn is great;but he really earned that 'Tommy Gun" nickname;

Simply Amazing "Best SF" Ever. But in terms of rebounding Elgin at SF was as good or better. In the rest, Bird owned all SFs
