its more of a power lifting / strength type of training method. i got a mate who does this and his upper back is crazy strong. it goes hand in hand with regular "good form" rows. a bit of both never hurt anyone

He's not moving 800lbs. Ronnie Coleman used to do 500lbs for about the same number of reps, and he is a very strong bodybuilder. The majority of weight is at the back of the fulcrum. Hard to say what the exact mechanical advantage is but I'd say he's lifting maybe 1/4 of the weight of those plates.
I don't like straps. I think they are the easy way out. There are people who can deadlift 900+ pounds without straps so i say everybody just needs to work on their grip.

He's big and strong, but his form is terrible for a national level bodybuilder. He's never gona make it pro if he keeps lifting like that. He needs to get more in touch with his mind-muscle connection and stimulate his muscles a lot more. The mind-muscle connection is absolutely essential when ur a bodybuilder. He can keep lifting like this if he wants to enter a powerlifting competition or some shit. Being a BB, lifting like this isn't gona get it done.
