Innovation always met with scepticism..... Great to have the choice of either system... and agreed the rear brake should stay foot operated unless in exceptional circumstances..
Automatic means automatic, u r comparing an apple with a steak!
Yaya, why scared of technology? Just because it make u looks bad when an automatic bike is faster and smoother than your manual do? You are pathetic mate.
If this wear a triumph logo, MCN will got a different story man.

Its a nice bike but that its a waste to make an automatic. That was dumb on honda part. If people want an automatic 2 wheel machine, buy a scooter. Thats why they make them. For basic and boring people that dont know better. Even automatic cars suck. All you do is just pressgas and thats it. Next you will have people texting on bikes now cause they dont have to change gears. Real fucking smart. Obama should do away with automatic rides. Or another president can do it. Cause thats bullshit
city traffic aint so bad ever been stuck in jam wit hundreds over motorcycles dat only move inches every five minutes or so. thinkin of pushing sumthing like the bike in this video for a few kilometers? u legs will b jello. thinkin of holding on to the clutch for so long. u wont even know if u hands is still ther. n wats wit buyin a prius or forget bout 2 wheelers, n so wat! if u hv 20 yrs experience, i dun give a shit bout it!! n i ride a gixxer n definitely wont forget abt 2 wheelers
They should have added a foot gear lever with the very same function as the finger pedals. Then it is much closer to an old-fashioned bike with ignition kill switch.
I must say I'm a little disapointed because I thought you would still have normal gears and clutch levers, but maybe it's just a matter of adaptation. For the road, sequential probably works best considering the bike also has ABS and all... I guess we can compare this to the change in airplanes from manual to fly by wire. Ultimately, the machines always do a better job than we do. Now Honda you still need to work on TC for your bikes heheh
No matter how you look at it VW group invented DCT technology and everyone of the japanese companies has copied them. Nissan with the GTR and now Honda with their motorbikes.
@MrSpeedfightRichy The point is that it shifts a lot faster than you can. It isn't an old-fashioned automatic, it's an "automated manual". In F1 cars, there's no automatic mode, but it's the same type of transmission. Two clutches, as he explained in the video. When you're in 1st, 2nd is already selected and ready to go on the second clutch. The only delay would be when you're in an intermediate gear and have been going up, and decide to shift down, but it's still probably faster than a human.
Just like with high performance cars, Its just a matter of time before more people adopt a Dual clutch transmission. Not because its easier but because it will be faster once the tech is mature (sorry, no amount of shifting prowess will let you be faster off the line). Also with a DCT, you can better integrate with traction control, ABS and other stability systems so that it will keep you on the bike and out of trouble more of the time.
Its not my cup of tea at all , I can see it being dangerous if you are not 100% used to it. Swaping from auto bike to normal clutch bike would also make you think. It is a great bike for athritic or injured riders though who have problems using a clutch or foot change.
I have a Yahama FJR AE, which has an identical paddle shifter system, but not the full auto modes.
A Honda salesman explained the VFR system to me, and I predicted that most riders would use the paddle shifters most of the time. Thanks for vindicating me!
Who would drive it? I guess lazy people, such as your typical slothful Formula One driver.
Once I tried the paddle shifter it was clear to me why so many high performance cars use paddles.
@joewarcupinhull we have a video review of it up - search for DN-01 on our channel. I had one on longterm test for a year. It's not a bad bike at all, under-powered, not much ground clearance, but it makes a great commuter.
I see you've got The Stig there, at 3:23 :D. Except he's a bit uglier :D. Nice bike, a lot of touring addicts will want the auto version. The only doubt left is durability. But I guess it's a Honda, right?
The bloody sound towards the end of this Vid, How hard is it to sort this out? I find the sound in these videos consistently poor. But I keep watching them because I'm interested in the subject matter in them.
@VMATT500C more wear than durability issue, the electro hydraulic changes the gears to clutch timing far better than a normal person would rendering the gearbox more durable but as for wear and tear, on cars at least, the system wears the clutch out faster leaving a 10-20% shorter clutch lifespan....and on cars, the double clutch systems seamless torque has proven to improve fuel economy
Its not automatic, its manual gerbox, but computer opreates cluch and gears. No cluch and gears, makes ride easer and smother. For new biker, or slow city riding biker its beter solution. Sorry for level of my english.
No way, how many people would (by shear habit) grab a hand full of rear brake (when in the back of their mind they're expecting a clutch) if they had a lever on the left. It's enough for people to get used to changing gears like that without moving the brake from the pedal we're all used to to. Nothing wrong at all with the rear brake staying right where it's always been IMO.
Wow, this reviewer is like all the other car reviewer idiots, who b**ch about... ohhh.. but the feel of a standard clutch /manual tranny.... ohhhh waaah waaah... stfu. This DCT in S mode works better than you could ever ride moron.
True, that makes a lot of sense. But, for me, I'd go with a left hand rear brake lever. Then I can be free to reposition my left leg/foot a lot more during longer rides.
Gay bike. The automatic anyway lol..

Is that clutch smoke? hahaha. Yes i know, no manual clutch. It is in fact steam made from rain water heating up upon bikes downpipes and radiator.
