  • Congratulations UAW! You finally got your wish, you drove another company under with your outrageous demands, you overpaid, under worked crybabies.

  • Read the 'protocols of the learned elders of zion' - it is free online. Or buy it..! They have destroyed us. Our super space program too. Do you think we - or any other nation on earth, would learn how to fly to the Moon.. regularly, and even bring along cars to drive around on the Moon...!!! And junk it..?

It is all true. IF it weren't true, they (zionists) would sue the retailers blind. You can buy it at amazon & other bookstores.. like abebooks. We - the whole world.. is in DEEP do-do..!

  • i worked there for 6 years as a computer programmer for the production systems. see that long yellow building? thats stacker crane number 4. there used to be 5 stacker cranes on the site i programmed every one of them.

the place they were ripping apart was the assembly line. i programmed systems that ran on those lines.

there also used to be 2 engine plants on site, im not sure if they were destroyed as well. i programmed a component verification system for those lines.

    loved that plant

  • my car was built here.. never again will she be able to see the cars that would have rolled out of here. never again will she be able to revisit her birth place. this plant was home to some great prodution vehicles. my family and friends have all owned a Pontiac or an Oldsmobile, and most still do. this is a shame. i nearly broke down crying. fuck you government motors and everything you currently produce. i hope your walking zombie of a company dies.

  • I worked at that plant for a few months before moving to the LGR plant now im at the Delta plant.

  • proabably the steele was bought at a real bargain by the chinese and sent it all there to melt it down and resell it to us so the steele workers in america can be put out of work.

  • Most GM parts come from China. I have a much better chance getting work from Toyota along with getting paid on time. This is sad. Free trade is not working so hot.

  • It wad the UAw not the japs!

  • Ironic

  • anyone watching this video and says this is a shame ,,dont say it if you bought an import .because it's ppl like you who helped americans lose their jobs at places like this..and if you bought an import..built here or not...then dont [EVER] say a dam word about our economy because anyone who bought a foreign car...you helped make this happen ...not me..i always buy american

  • Comment removed

  • How about the fact that one excavator is American made out of the three! That sums it up well enough for me.

  • Overpaid, UAW crybabies & lardasses, I hope you're happy now...........

  • Before you go blaming the politicians-yes they are responsible for some of it, and bad decisions on the part of the board of directors trying to keep up the stock prices to demanding investors, it was unions demands for unrealistically high wages and ridiculous benefits and stupid government regulations that forced manufacturers overseas in search of cheaper labor to compete with foriegn competition.

  • Our politicians did the same thing, closed our factories to buy cheap chinese crap that lasts 5 minutes now our market is saturated with their junk & we can no longer get our own made brand anymore.

  • Ironic, Even the cranes tearing down the plant are foreign made...

  • @BlueHeavenBound hey there is a cat tractor in there, made mostly... in aurora, illinois

  • My Dad found this saddening. He drives a 2001 Olds Aurora and loves it. Blame this on poor decisions by GM management and greed of the UAW and too much free trade by these damn politicians. Bring back the work to North America where it belongs. A little bit of outsourcing? Ok fine but not at the rate its happening at today. Jeez.

  • now i cant put on wiper blades $60.000 a year

  • Thank every shithead who drives a Toyota or Kia for this...that, and figurehead know-nothing politicians like Dubya, who aided and abetted capital flight from US manufacturing. In 20 years, the US will be a 3rd world nation overrun by stupid people.

  • Reminds me of a scene from Terminator; chewing up and spitting out My America one mouthfull at a time. I still drive and will continue to drive O L D S M O B I L E s!

  • Wow, Let's go out and buy some Toyotas! Yea, where the gas pedals, and brakes don't work! GM never had the failure to bite them in the ass.

  • notice the irony of Volvo machines tearing down The Olds plant. this is truly heart-wrenching to watch

  • and another thing- all these fucking little Chinese shits flocking to Shanghai etc to work in sweat shops just to produce fucking junk to sell to Wal-Mart means decent hard working Americans are now out of jobs WAKE UP YOU STUPID FUCKING POLITICIANS or you'll be standing in line for handouts as well.

  • @moker1275 I think you find it is down to bad management and accountants, these people are to blame. Of course I mown the lose of manufacturing in the west. I have lived through the destruction of the British manufacturing industry, and you know its all down to management, the unions, politicians and of late ACCOUNTANTS. "We can make you big profits, make the items in China, cheaply, they will break, the mugs will buy a replacement from your company." and they keep their jobs we lose ours.

  • @moker1275 Guess what. The politicians aren't the ones who need to wake up. Just look at their wages (and most of them can vote themselves a raise when they want one) they should never be in line waiting for a handout because they tax you and I enough to live comfortably.

  • Somethin needs to be done fast. before long, we will all be driving asian shitboxes. What's the sense in cars being made by slopes being paid 20c an hour and the expense of our own car industry. I say nuke the fuckers.

  • The American corporate assholes sold their country out for the almighty dollar! Business is not loyal to any country or people, but people continue to be loyal to shit-headed corporate monkeys. Bunch of slaves we are.

  • Grtwritr you are Sick!. I am watch this going to happen to my Plant in Mansfield, OH. I've worked there for 10 years!. There isn't a F'in job out there that pays you nothing! You can't live off of Obama wages. Every thing wants to be made over seas! Who in the hell wants to buy that crap!. It's cheap made junk.

  • its unfortunate that everyone who worked at those plants is in need of a new job. I'm not talking from the employment side of the issue. Many American made cars are also made like junk. I've got an Olds and a Saturn to prove it. those two were the end of my GM ownership days.

  • this is one of the smartest decisions GM has ever made. Now if only Saturn would follow behind Oldsmobile and Pontiac.

  • @Grtwritr You Sick bastard Saturn is (was) as GM stated a different kind of car company they did not deserve their abrupt end and neither did Olds Or pontiac

  • sure, that's why Saturn in no longer being made either.

  • @Grtwritr and thats why all american breands are having to restructure their image, saturn had a good one

  • @brendo1077 refusing to support service on their product is a good image? You must work for GOVERNMENT motors... how much are they paying you to say lines of garbage like that?? Saturn never once made a profit in decade they existed. That's not a good image in my book.

  • @Grtwritr where do u get ur facts Saturns are still supported by gm, saturn had a youthfull image that was very successful take a drive anywhere an you see at least 1 saturn mostly vues and auras i have no affiliation with gm and incase u didnt notice gm is no longer under government control, saturn turned a profit year after year, what exactly do u drive?

  • How ironic Volvo machines are used to tear down an Olds plant.

  • those volvos are made by samsung heavy

  • I had my 1st job with GM at this plant when I was 21, back in 1981. They layed me off indefinetly, so I moved to TN to start up the GM Saturn plant. Now they've laid me off, so I'm coming back to Lansing to work at Lansing Delta Township. I haven't seen the old plant for years. I gues it's too late now.

  • @debramae1830 Welcome back my friend and keep up the good work!!!!! Love GM!!!!

  • 35 years of my work life history gone away. I hired in to that plant August 17, 1971 at 18 years old on the assembly line. Built nothing but real Oldsmobiles back then until 1984. I'm still driving a '81 Delta 88.

  • I worked there for the past few years, before devestation. This video makes me sad because it was a REAL car producing factory. This wasnt just an oldsmobile factory it was the cornerstone of a community. It made people proud to be in mid Michigan. We do have new plants here, but it doesnt have that same feel. We dont have the support of anyone anymore, and I think this video exemplifies that. Americans used to take care of each other.

  • People you have to realise this is all being done for a new world order. They can't have America strong and people prosperous if they want to own and control everything on planet. The politicians will do what their masters in the Vatican tell them period or they get killed, like lincoln and many many others.

  • keep telling yourself that NO sensible person will believe you, its economics pure and simple its cheaper to produce cars in Asia where wages are much less.

  • yes it is economics its one of the many tools they use against us, pure and simple. John D. Rockerfeller said something like - their is no greater sin than competition. There is no competition anymore they all work together, any competition you think is an illusion for the masses. Otherwise they would never get anything done if they were actually in competition with each other.

  • I remember taking a tour in the early 80's when they became Buick Olds Cadillac. That place was enormous. They could probably use a huge plant like that again. Produce a few different cars in there. I don't think they ever used the Delta Engine plant after the 90's. Instead they spent hundreds of millions on that new campus out on the west side. Smart. Typical GM. I've heard the Fisher Body plant is gone now to. We've been digging our own grave buying all the foreign crap; not just cars

  • FUCK GM ever since they killed Oldsmobile i had lost all respect for them, now that Pontiac is being killed also i HATE GM

  • i agree

  • They used to make Pontiacs in Australia till recently, rebadged GM Holden commodores.

  • GM could have used this plant as a museum or as a attractation. This was one of the odest car factorys in the united states

  • Ironic how the equipment tearing down the facility says "Volvo" on them, a company owned by Ford.

  • Ford doesn't own Volvo equipment or Volvo trucks, just Volvo cars

  • Oh yeah, forgot that. Isn't Volvo trucks owned by International or something?

    Still interesting, though.

  • I believe Volvo trucks owns more than 50% of Mack

  • Renault owns mack dont know how much of it, Kenworth is owned by DAF which is owned by Bedford.

    All corporate games.

  • wow, that looks like a complete slap in the face. volvo trucks tearing down a gm plant :|

and to confirm as others, volvo cars is owned by ford ... for now, volvo trucks is swedish

  • correct me if im wrong , be Saturn is owned by a Chinese company. America has sold out to most forgin country's. thats why we are losing jobs and many other things we use to know.

now if only america would stop importing cars and other CHEAP junk from other country's America would not have soo much loss of jobs to import cars and buy back its companys being sold to rich asshole companys from japan china and other places outside of the usa!

  • god i grew up here and remember nothing but the melancholy of the long grey winters, dreary backgrounds to the decaying auto giants..the irony of the volvo heavy machinery is not lost here...if the people of the rust belt would vote with a mind toward who is really helping their economy versus the "ditto" line is..some of this might be avoided...the filthy rich always stay clean remember that as you think to vote for mccain....

  • An Oldsmobile Factory being torn down by a Volvo. Wow, how the world has changed.

  • GM owns Volvo trucks and equipment. In fact the line is GMC-White-Volvo. GMC can't make a decent truck on it's own so they Bought White trucks (and dumped the appliances) and later they entered into a deal with Volvo.

  • Actually, Volvo Trucks remains an independent Swedish Company. Volvo Cars was sold to Ford around 8 to 10 years ago (no more 240's that last for 20 years). General Motors owns SAAB, which it bought around 8 years ago, as well. As far as big companies, please remember who employees people and gives them jobs. They do need to make a profit to keep people working. Not enought room to debate here :) Peace

  • i never knew that was general motors and ive lived there for years

  • It's really sad.Olds made such great cars back in the day.I just love my 76 and 77 cutlasses and i guess this just makes them more valuable.

  • This is such a sad thing. I've moved west, but when I came back for christmas and saw the plant was gone, I was in shock. My dad worked there for 30 years. I remember visiting the plant as a field trip years ago. It's so sad to see what's happened to Lansing in the last few years!

  • Bruce Springsteen - Youngstown

    Here in Youngstown

    Here in Youngstown

My sweet Jenny, I'm sinkin' down

    Here darlin' in Youngstown

  • My thoughts exactly! The song would be perfect playing in the background.

  • the slow down of the big 3 in michigan, has trickeld down to us residential drywall construction contractors,in such a big way, many have moved, those who stay lost there buisnesse's,and r working either in union,or scraping at h. depot, the lucky few who manopolized lansing ,van buren, spartan, ect have downsized big time~michigan will you ever eturn to the good old days?

  • Aw, man, this still gets me... I've moved away to college but I grew up less than a mile from the MLK bridge where you shot this video... nothing sadder than my dad and so many other workers getting laid off, Olds folding, and GM tearing that plant down.

  • hmm, last time I checked, Ford owned volvo?

  • hmm last time i checked the hired a contractor to tear down the buildings dumbass

  • Yeah, I was referring to the comment above: "yeah they can't even tear it down with USA made machines"

It's not like they are using a Japanese brand.

  • So sad. Lansing was a nice city to grow up in - but I never wanted to raise my kids there.

  • you jack asses, they built a brand new plant in delta township twice the size of this one

  • Said it for me.

  • its not vovle its gm dum ass

  • yeah they can't even tear it down with USA made machines,

  • And GM, Ford and Chrysler are all closing more plants. If this keeps up, the only things that will still be made in America are hamburgers, french fries and excuses.

  • Well Said, I like the excuses part, we have a lot of them !

  • Yeah, not all of us are doctors and lawyers. But at the same time we are not dumbasses either just because we don't have a damn college degree. Some things are just not for everyone.

  • If we are lucky hamburgers and fries will still exist and we have less vegietarians. But we will have excuses sure enough.

  • ammoguy5-- Gov. Granholm had nothing to do with this plant's closure and demolition. GM told Lansing Mayor Dave Hollister in summer 1996-- long before Granholm was elected-- that this complex would close after the Olds Alero finished production. Source: Lansing State Journal, Nov. 12, 2006.

  • Sure a New plant was built in Delta Twp, BUT the Oldsmobile brand name GONE! What's being built in that Delta Plant is the GMC Acadia and the Saturn Outlook - the FAT Crossover SUV's!

  • ammoguy5: Granholm had nothing to do with this plant's demolition. GM told Lansing Mayor Dave Hollister in 1996-- long before Granholm was elected governor-- that it would close this complex after the Alero finished its production run. Source: Lansing State Journal, Nov. 12, 2006.

  • You can thank your governor granholm for michigans plight!!!

  • All that scrap metal is being sent over seas to Japan instead of being recycled localy here in Lansing...

  • Volvo too.
