I'm Cambodian and don't really care that she's Thai, I mean she's an actress and it's acting-- just like "Memoirs of a Geisha" being cast with Chinese actresses. However, that part where she's supposed to speak Khmer I could not understand a single thing she said... :-/

@visualxjinsei agree. it is not that bad! i mean, it's clear you hear he is from germany and he doesn't sound like a british or american speaker, so he does not sound like a native speaker but let's remember he isn't and i bet no hollywood actor could speak another language perfectly right in a movie not shot in the us or britain. so let's support talented young actors like kross instead of criticising his english!

what is so far saw is just amazing... the most amazing is of course that this is not a fiction but a real love story. The loving pair was introduced in german tv, hats of to the german gentleman... people talk lots about love, thinking lust to be love... but Ben played by David Kross, is showing how matured and responsible a person despite of young age can be. Hats of to Ben and his unconditional love! Thanks for the movie introduction, cannot wait to see the full movie. I believe in love.

At the end, I would like to add that we fortunately found a lot of supporting actors and actress from Cambodia who represent an essential part of this movie and characterize it. We hope this movie will show the world that Cambodia is a great country for shooting movies, not only with the human resources they have, as well as the actors and actress.

After a lot of castings we found Apinya – a wonderful young girl with an incredible talent for acting. We discussed the fact that she is not Cambodian but as she seemed to be the perfect embodiment of Sreykeo, we decided to work with her and David. Also the real couple, Sreykeo and Benjamin, were convinced of the acting couple David Kross and Apinya Sakuljaroensuk and that they could represent their story in the best way.

When you have seen for example all the talent shows you can imagine how hard the situation is. Not only for the candidates, but also for the jury. And searching for a real feature film is not a show but even harder and a careful decision need to be done. Who is the right one? Who can “be” Sreykeo so that we believe the story, the character and their love? As you may have read we were looking for a leading actress all over the world – also in Cambodia.

But as we are not making a documentary but a feature film about love between two young people, we had to look for the best young actor and actress. Very at the beginning David Kross was clear for Ben because we had worked together with him on another film already. And then we started the casting for the girl. Castings are always very hard as you may probably know.
