Essentially, the people who do ratings are just normal people you pull off the street and say, "Would you let your children watch this?" and that's virtually how it happens. It doesn't take a huge corporate deal to get a rating passed.

@LAD170 That's not adult humor, that's just obnoxiousness. They're throwing out "adult" jokes like a 12 year old who's discovered his first swear and says it with every sentence. There's no subtly, no wit. Nothing that flies right over the head of their target audience and leaves them wondering why dad just burst out laughing.

Not everything has lost the subtly though. That's probably the best part about Pony. It has that same charm and wit that these old cartoons had in spades.

@LAD170 First, I never said MLP was the best show ever. Just the best one in recent years. Second, the difference is subtly and wit, not just adult content. When PPG makes jokes like this, it's because it flows naturally with the writing. It doesn't jump out, so only the people who get it are going to laugh. It seems like just another line of dialog to everyone else. Regular show's "adult" jokes stick out like a sore thumb and leave the actual adult audience groaning.

It's all opinion anyway.
