  • whack that water you sonvabitch

  • im going to make one of these but im going to buy 2 cheap weedeaters and buy 2 props about the size of a cd

  • Awesome project but I'd hate to listen to that all day :)

  • dude I can paddle faster than that

  • YeeeeHaaawwwww!!! Great Idea, Great Execution, Great Video. Great Dog!!

  • I've seen a blender made from a weed whacker...

  • weed eater wtf? in denmark we smoke it!

  • THATS FUCKEN FAST! WHERED IT GO??

  • Ummmm why did I never think of that..This is sweet.

  • you have to register it if you put a moter on it

  • cool design, but who scared off all the fish?

  • cute dog

  • Very cool, could the exhaust be ported thru a tube that would terminate below the waterline? Might hush the engine a bit. Nice job!!

  • Throw a cordless drill in the water and off ya go... lol

  • your dog is very cool.

  • I wonder if you would get more thrust by putting a cowling around the prop to direct more water flow?

  • Can you hear me now, thats got to be annoying.

  • Can you hear me now, thats got ot be annoying.

  • got earplugs?

  • I made one of these once. It moved quick enough but the noise was unbearable and the motor was impractical for that reason. needless to say, buy an electric trolling motor.

  • a little loud aint it

  • its is not called a weed eater it is a trimmer

weed eater is a brand name of a trimmer

  • Seems like it would be awful noisey.....

  • Good job,Skipper, great four legged sailor !!!

  • love the dog! great build, exactly what i want to make this summer. if only i had a nedneck uncle who lived on a lake so i wouldnt look like a idiot at a beach

  • that is the coolest mud motor i have ever seen

you need to put a hose on your gas tank and add a bigger tank with a pump bubble to fill the small tank up with gas

    insanely awsome

  • You are a genius sir

  • thumbs up if the band "Weedeater" brought you here.

  • Very creative. Good work, but that thing must be loud.

  • does it plane?

  • needa bigger prop.

  • press 4 to skip to the good part

  • weedeaters have a allposition carb with a built in fuel pump i have a weedeater like that and they have a small gas tank witch doesent last long when ur on the lake fighing time flys then u run outof gas ur secrewed paddling back or u could take like a 5L gas can the cost like 5 dollars then some fule line like also 5 dollars and run the fuel line and return line in to the gas can with a fuel filter and u will not run out of gas for a very long time

  • @swabbster3 I found my setup to be extremely fuel efficient. I ran around the lake for almost 4 hours non-stop and never had to add gas to the tank. I took a small 1 Gal gas can with me just in case, I never needed to use it. I wouldn't fool with running extra lines to a tank. I would just fill the small tank on the weedeater when needed. Its nice to have such a light weight setup that you can detach from the boat and throw in the truck, disconnecting fuel lines ect would be a headache.

  • I here that a lot of weedeater spin clock wise and trolling motors spin counter clock wise any suggestions ???

  • @polerigger Yes, you do have to get a prop that corresponds with the direction of rotation of your weedeater. They had a decent selection of props at my local marina/boat repair shop (Castles Marina). The first prop that I got was the incorrect rotation but I could turn the weedeater backwards in the mount and it would pull instead of push the boat through the water. The second prop was correct. I would also suggest the smallest prop available. The one that I have is almost too big.

  • @vwdriver8542 turn the prop around backwards instead of the weedeater?

  • @rinsetwice The pitch of the prop would then be incorrect, It would probably work but not very efficiently. Plus it would be hard to attach.

  • @polerigger if you can, just hear me out, see if you can rig the prop of backwards, it may take some rigging, but i should work

  • On comments from brianhoopajoo "Does anyone else notice that the wind blows exactly as the motor is plunged into the lake?"and "Ever hear of the butterfly effect? He disturbed the space-time contiunum."Leave it to a astrophysics major to overlook the obvious fact that another landscaping mechanic in the neighborhood must have simply made a canoe jet drive out of a backpack yard blower and fired it up at the same time on his rig just outside the frame! BTW, the pooch would rather you paddle.

  • You should try a slightly larger propeller. It sounds like that motor is turning that prop with too much ease.

  • nice dog

  • beats the heck out of paddling .and the weedeater has a built in centrifical clutch. nice job beats the high price of trolling motors and small boat motors

  • hello im 12 but my dad had gotten me a small 12 ft jon boat and i was wondering how fast do u think a 50 cc weedeater motor with a trolling motor prop would push my boat because we go through some rough terrain and well i like longtail motors moe than standard short-tail outboard motors? plz reply (and wut if i used a 6.5 horse lawn mower motor)

  • @bigD96000 use the 6.5 horse motor man. if you can use that it would be way better. using a 50cc two stroke to push yea isnt a great idea. you could blow a piston after idling for too long. plus the lawn mower motor has the capability to go faster as well and well who doesnt like that. This is just coming from a 13 year old but im pretty experienced. Good luck and im jealous! i think ill make my own boat cuz my dad wont get me one. have fun man!

  • You may have made an extremely loud version of minnkota's endura 30. Slowest lol

  • Hey worse came to worse your electric trolling motor goes out you have this thing just for a spare oh yeah, worth the investment looks like a great tool to keep around just in case your to lazy to paddle or run out of juice, Very clevera bigger prop would just put more stress on it and probly take half its life off it!

  • ghost dog

  • nice.

  • nice

  • Your dog is just like mine... Always telling me he wants to go NOW!!!!

  • good luck fishing with that noise.. haha

  • @WC9456 you have to wake up the fish

  • ya should of used the themesong to Gilligans island..........

  • good mechanical skill bit a 4 horse for distant trips or a 40 thrust for short trips or..... you can do em both like i did for my 12' john

  • i think it's really cool! i was going to make the same thing. but then i bought a suzuki 8hp instead :)

  • may i suggest a 4hp or something to get some speed

  • that thing seems like it push's the boat pretty well!

  • some of your power is being long by flinging it up u need to make a plate above the propeller

  • Chumdinger FTW!

  • that little pup is the best part

  • i think at first the wind was pushing him faster then the motor.

  • Trolling motor not built for speed.

  • you should use bigger propeller, and you'll go faster... : )

  • doesnt even idle, buy a 3 hp with built in gas tank, plus ur gonna burn that shaft up in it and get stranded , too loud too

but pretty cool if u were bored

  • bigger prop is needed

  • hahahaha thats awesome dude!! Good thinking!

  • someone put one on a kayak and it moved pretty fast!

  • I would love to make one out of a go ped motor, my friends go ped had some serious power.

  • I love your dog

  • This is brilliant in how you combine various aspects of other machines to come up with this. Thanks for the inspiration man...

  • how did you attach the propeller

  • nice. try lawnmower engine next time.

  • excelent.. I use something similar.. It is a Riobi 25cc bent shaft model without a gearbox on the end.. (cable drive) I use a tiny bronze 3 blade prop meant for an RC speed boat.. I is less than 2" diameter but I get a good 4MPH from it.. I burned my standard centrigal clutch and it melted all my housing.. After repairs and converting to direct drive I have a cracking little motor.. Will have to make a vid to show you guys,... nice work

  • you never have any problems with the carb having it tipped at that angle?

  • small propeller but good work!!!

  • i want this thing!!!how you make it?

  • very good and using the edger unit gears it down about 2 to 1 which will make the clutch last longer now lots of comments on here about using a bigger prop ignore them,

very slowly with lots of test runs sand off the ends of the prop to put less torque against the engine and it will rev up into its proper power band and wake up nicely and the extra engine speed will better engage the clutch and turn the prop better for increased boat speed make sure you can get another prop if you overcut

  • hows the gear box worknig any problems thx?

  • hows the gear head worknig.. any problems? thx

  • I have got to say! Congratulations! also, it seems to me like you need just a slightly bigger prop...if you can get a bigger blade you might get some more hp ...im not saying go grab the biggest prop out in the yard you can find but a 2-4 horse should work for you if not just 2-3..if you take a quick trip to a boat store you will see the size of them. Good luck and happy sailin' man (ps.. try tripping your butterfly throttle ;D)

  • its rather loud

  • how'd u make it?

  • sounds like it could use a smaller prop, trolling motors tend to be pretty low rpm and high torque, the complete opposite of this weed wacker engine, but good set up!

  • Not Bad here's My advice Ditch the Motor and Get a second hand Fire Fighter's Pump and the Get system Off a old get ski and you will get it up to around 50kph

  • im doin this same thing. just im makin the boat to

  • how fast will it go?

  • wat lake is that?

  • You should really try a leaf blower it is like a jet boat, me and my dad done it to one of

our kayaks, but we used two of them

  • Absolutely the best video on the face of the earth!!!!!!!!!

  • Absolutely AWESOME!!! You are very clever and recourceful. I have been looking for an inexpensive motor for a 14ft. flatbottom. It looks plenty strong to me, but do you think it will push a 14' aluminum boat OK? I think I will try to build one myself. Thanks for the awesome idea and video!! Oh yeah, cute Puppy Dog too!! Lol. Thanks!

  • Looks like that wind moved you faster than the motor did!

  • That's great!

  • You bring that noisey piece of stupidity to a pristeen river fishng condition and you are going to be invited to leave.

  • @clargdorp dont be hatin, plenty more fish in the sea.

  • @Bandosdroppleasesme I was lmao while making the comment.

    'hatin;, wrong term.

Honest, correct term.A great idea. But will scare the fish out of their skins,....mabybe it is a good thing to have afterall.

  • @clargdorp

You Tree huggers can put it where the sun don;t shine. Where ya going to find a pristeen river where you live honky.

  • where can you get a prop that small at

  • Using trimmer as outboard motor - very good idea. Such constructions are also very popular in Russia!

  • @decoysk no body cares it was an experiment, shut the fuck up

  • just wondering how high u could get the rpm's if u were to run the motor at full throttle?

  • i would rather put an electric trolling motor on it. that sound would drive me crazy

  • awesome vid and product, nice friend you have(doggy :)) and that wind was kicking ass

  • puppy seems happy:)

  • I'd double the size of the prop or atleast increase 35% also watch co-pilot's (3:44) ears as he seems like he wishes to hide from all that racket (I did & I ain't no mut) otherwise good job!

  • the weedeater engine needs a smaller prop. it seems like they don't have enough torque to push a bigger prop, they stall out.

  • only reasin dig was infront of boat was because he was tied down..

  • When i watch a video like this all the things i once thought were not possible now seem to be.. i could of used this persons help with soo many things... lol

  • Wow. Now that's redneck. 5 stars. It seems to work quite well.

  • clever, but noisy..

  • Does anyone else notice that the wind blows exactly as the motor is plunged into the lake?

  • @brianhoopajoo its magig ^^

  • @brianhoopajoo

Ever hear of the butterfly effect? He disturbed the space-time contiunum.

  • Fantastic job,Great boat, Cute puppy. I did about the same thing with a lawnmower engine, Check it out. Hardtimesx2's channel

  • great work, love the cute lab...thats the life man.

  • Would be interesting to play with some different props to see how much speed you could get out of it; I imagine that small prop is doing quite a bit of cavitating.

  • lol iv always wanted to do that

  • haha, me too! I wanted to use two weed whippers

  • why wuddnt u make the propeller bigger for more pushing power out of that engine

  • becAUSE THE BIGGER IT IS THE SLOWER the smaller the faster so its about equal but if me id hand with a small one

  • looks likes it works good.very creative.good job.

  • That's all great, but why not just use a trolling motor?

  • not as fun dymbass

  • where is that? that's a nice lake

  • It 's way better than rowing , if you want more power look at the RC boat sites , you can get tuned pipes for these sized engines along with all types of header pipes . They can give you upto 25% more go when they are set up right .

  • Great video man. You've made me soooo homesick for a simpler life!

  • looks awesome XD but you may want to re-route the exhaust so it isnt blowing back at your head lol

  • cool boat but way to loud for fishing

  • stick another one on there and you're good to go!

  • its a good idea and i can tell you put a lot of thought in this and it is very well put together but i think your motor is way under powered

  • Cool. Well done ;)

  • total redneck Way to go! Keep it up! Nicely done

  • your is alot nicer than mine

  • how fast does your canoe go with that string trimmer? i have a homelite trimmer, do you think it would make a good outboard?

  • never mind. my homelite will work

  • neat,i actually expected it to be even faster though

  • its probably a flex shaft most weedeaters have them=)

  • how did u bent the shaft? so that it runs the prop

  • how u make the prop like that

  • We use a Pelican Bayou 16 as our support and safety canoe on Expeditions and it carries a 5HP outboard. Its a brilliant boat and does the most fantastic job

  • Watersport4all, het watersport portaal van Nederland. Met de beste service !

Het gevoel dat u wilt delen.

    Google op: watersport4all.

  • that is awesome haha

  • how much did the trolling motor propeller cost? and how did u attach it?(i'm trying to do the same project)

  • did u just flip the end trimmer piece and ad a troling motor prop

  • who cares about tha fish some times it matter but when you just got a braned new boat and my cousin has 1 2 and want to go out on the lake its still prettey fun and u dont need a lisence

  • you should take some copper pipe and attach it to your muffler and put it in the water much quieter

  • make it go faster too

  • it would also scare the fish, because of the bubbling and noise.

  • All regular outboards exhaust under the water that is why they are quiet. Listen to one that someone has started out of the water. They are LOUD.

  • Wish I could. Need more power. Is the dirt bike engine next? hum?

  • @vwdriver8542 Some propellers will allow you to go faster. Im about to replace the propeller on my minn kota bc I saw a review about the standard issued ones just dont have as much thrust.

  • @vwdriver8542 : maybe you should use bigger propeller. I'm pretty sure the engine can handle cause your's look kinda small, just make sure it's not too big for that engine. I'll build one when I got time probably few more months. I'll buy the one with 4cycle at Sears. Is yours 2 or 4 cycle?

  • @vwdriver8542 go straight for the gsxr suzuki 1000 motor make a hydroplane.....

  • Its really not that bad since you are running at low rpm. The camera was right next to the motor so it seems loud.

  • wow thats very smart and cool but it needs a carb tune or cleaned

  • It actually runs great. It is just under a very high torque load so it runs at low RPM and sounds weird.

  • very cool, was it relatively simple to attach?

  • yes, very simple

  • ? whre did you get the prop

  • I got the prop at a local marina called Castles marina. I pretty sure it came off of a Motor Guide electric trolling motor, but I am not sure. It did not have any markings or numbers. This one is clockwise rotation, which is what i needed for the direction my weed eater motor spins.

  • wow thats pretty cool. how much dose you boat weigh??

  • This is a pelican bayou 160 which has a listed weight of 120 lbs. but has a capacity of nearly 900lbs.

  • I am trying to build one of these myself but cant find the gear box at the end where do i get one?

  • The one that I have came with the edger attachment. I got the attachment from the Home Depot online store. Just search for Expand-It Recon Edger Attachment. I just removed the wheel and gaurd and added the prop.
