Captain cook discovered it for the rest of the world and was the cornerstone of the shaping of NZ as it is today. If the Maori want "their" land back, tell them to give the blankets, guns, electricity, gas, technology etc back and stop doing anything related to what the european migration caused, ie: fast food, government benefits, proper healthcare etc etc. One people I reckon, its a shame they dont.
