Hey, great videos man. i like the use of veil of maya in one of your other vids, they're not widely known, but have some amazing technical and progressive riffs for a metal band. you ought to use animals as leaders as some examples in your videos, they're an amazing influence on my guitar playing. if you haven't heard of thm, which i doubt, check out cafo or on impulse.
So would you recommend to do it (for example) like this:
|4/4|4/4|4/4|4/4 + 1/4|
or more like this:
|4/4 + 1/4|4/4 + 1/4|4/4 + 1/4|4/4 + 1/4|
My problem is that in my opinion there needs to be some kind of order in (my) music to seperate it from the chaos and it's hard for me to make this order more interesting without making it too chaotic...
Anyways thank you so much - you are the first one who can explain things to me with me understanding it :)
hey i like the video! however, i dont like the fact that people consider progressive a genre of music. Its more of a theme that can be applied to any genre (progressive metal, progressive rock etc) for ex. pink floyd and dream theatre should never be in the same genre. not saying your saying this but..
you do a real good job of explain complex materials! HOwever , ive never understood how people actually apply complex rhythms. not how they use them but how they break them down. i just figured most people just write and whatever comes out is whatever comes out.
I imagine you'll look back on these videos in a few years and feel like a bit of an idiot

@Insektoid A very common Protest The Hero pattern from their older albums is
4/4|4/4| 4/4|3/4| 4/4|15/16| 4/4|4/4|
The first and last are the context riff, and the two in the middle are off. Since there's a reference point, it becomes less chaotic, as you say.

Maybe you should use another effect on your amp... And it sounds a bit off in tune, maybe you should check your intonation...
Otherwise, awesome videos!
