@MrShoreman1 - hmm, think these speakers are rated at something like 150w RMS, However I use a NAD amp putting out just 50w RMS and 150w peaks. I think anything more would blow my speakers as they really get moving. tbh I think my tweeters are half gone too, they're no where near as vibrant as they once were. Hope you get your 908s repaired though!
@christopher4636 check my vids dude, i got wharfedales hooked up too, not loud because didnt know if sound would distort when recording through crap camera
@Frietpan - the 309i is a fantastic sub and is essential for full bodied, realistic sound reproduction. Before i got my 309i I just had the two floor standing speakers which are rated as being 'full range' but like any other floor standing speakers they can't reproduce bass effectively without introducing interference to the midrange. With a good quality sub you get those nice deep low notes which add so much to your music. Worth every penny
@Frietpan - ahh yes you don't want an amp with a fixed build in crossover as you could end up missing out huge bands of frequencies when you use speakers which also contain another passive crossover.
@Frietpan - a very nice setup you have their, perfect choice and arrangement of speakers too. I also personally prefer floor stranding speakers as fronts. Would be great to see a video of it!!
@xSlavic - short answer = no, i like the music to be reproduced with the level of bass that it was intended to have, which generally can't even be created with 'just' my floorstanders.
longer answer = also my full range floor standing speakers were in a very small room yet the focul point of the bass appears to be about 3-4m back from the speakers, so used an old sub to help compensate.
@melenmike - this is a very old video, now i use them in my large living room with the matching Mordaunt short avant 309i sub. However yes if i was ever to use them in a small room again i might consider using sand.
@axmatt - Foobar2000, great open source media player, plays lots of audio formats and gives you proper control over the gain of your music so nothing ever gets distorted. Very customizable too :P You should check it out.
you mean what is my opinion? I love them, they have detail and clarity that most other speakers in this price range could only dream of!! They do have quite a clean sounds to them but that suits me as i use them for home cinema too. However you have to be careful what you pair these speakers with, they are rather 'bright' at high freq. So never pair them with an equally 'bright' amp like cambridge audio, so I used a NAD amp and they sounds perfect to me.
Ok, and yes I mean the 912 bookshelf speakersi have. The are taken out of production for a couple of years, i don't understand why. These speakers are having some better specs then the 902's. Check google, by searching for 912 specs, so you can compare.
haha, that sub wasn't turned on, the crap little logitech satellite speakers were turned on to make it a little louder and wake up my flatmates, but I barely ever turn up that sub, sounds like my ass!! lol
well i got them now you were right they do lack the base the technic ones had but the sound is more punchy and crisp. i have them with a set of b&w dm303 for surround. not sure they look right next to the tv now lol, thanks for your input btw
I currently have some technic sb ex3's which i have had for 14 years, the bass sounds great on them in films, im just hoping the bass is as good as on those. What is worrying me is the lack of width on the speaker, whether or not it can produce good bass, i know the treble is surperb on them tho
The 906i's will be a huge improvement on fidelity and depth. Yeah the speakers aren't that wide but the they do have a reasonable volume cabinet and two well tuned ports. and paired with that amp that should sound sweet. The bass on these will sound very tight compared to your technics but may not have as much of a boomy effect. If you feel that something is missing you could always run your old speakers too from that nice amp. Let me know how you find em.
you'll love these speakers, they're amazing, and loads of people use them for a home cinema set up. What amp are you gonna use to drive em?
The bass is pretty good, but I'd recomend getting a proper woofer for those all important explosions/bangs in action movies. But when paired up with a good amp they do create some pretty deep bass. enjoy
my speakers cannot take more than a third of the amp volume without distorting :c

Nice speakers, but place them more from the wall and it will increase your bass quality.
Im having the 912's, the small brothers of the 906's. Place them 100cm from the ground and 20cm from the wall. Just great sound for a great price!
Marksku 2 years ago
Indeed this was just a temporary setup in my old flat, the speakers are now a little better placed, but not perfect.
Do you meant the 902's? the 912's don't exist yet.
(the 902's are the bookshelf speakers of the avant 900 series)
