George Martin didn´t know that in the first 10 singles and 5 albums Lennon was the dominant composer. There was a kind of "Don´t tell anybody".
When Yesterday came, George Martin started the rumor that McCartney alone was the composer in the Beatles. The esatblishment bought that for many many years. Scandal. George Martin contributed a lot to the Beatles split
@worldcitizenforever By your words all shall know ye... a moron indeed perhaps you grace us with your vision of the antithesis of "...these clowns" or are you just another troll...er...clown The Beatles music & their story is a modern version of a myth as old as man your lack of depth is daunting, still such a depth of ignorance is either feigned or irreparable and in either case unworthy
The first Beatles song I ever heard was "I wanna hold your hand" and I was a Beatles fan from the opening chords. I was 10 and I remember it all so well. Nothing like it was ever heard before. The freshness, the energy, the beauty. Astonshing and unbelievable! After a year of great success in England and Europe they came to America and literally conquered the music and culture scene overnight. Within weeks they had the top 5 songs on the chart. A feat never achieved before or since.
I remember them when they were new. They were mind blowing and that's a profound understatement. Now they are a super cult. A historical phenomenom. Godlike. Beyond great. The Beatles.
I wish I could remember hearing the Beatles for the first time. What was it like the first time that you ever heard the Beatles? What song was it? I'm just curious.
I saw them on Ed Sullivan, Feb '64. I was 5. Had a 13 year old sister consumed by Beatlemania. She set the whole thing up for me. I very clearly remember that Sunday, waiting all day for the Beatles to come on. It is my second earliest coherent memory. The first was Kennedy's assassination. Both life shaping experiences, only 3 months or so apart. I've been listening to them for 45 years now. It's amazing how they never get old. I love them now more than ever. Have 2 daughters who love them now.
like you, my first two vivid memories (as I have told people over the years), are John F. Kennedy's assassination and the Beatles debut on the Ed Sullivan Show, I have been a Beatles fan since.
one of sir george martins best stuff, besides the beatles, was when mr.martin got together with yoshiki from x japan and they made a cd called eternal melody! some of the coolest classical music is on that cd!
not at all! he handled all their money and expenses and when he died thats what their demise was, they had no idea how to handle all the stuff brian was doing and they started to take it out on each other, and well the rest was history unfortunately.
Amazing he's outlived 2 of the Beatles considering he's older than they are.

Martin may be the most important person in the history of pop since Mozart or Gershwin.

Those huge early CD boxes are weird... like boxsets!
Interesting watching this since The Beatles announced today that the studio albums are finally being re-released in remastered form.
Those early CDs sound so tinny, even though the music's still great!
Thanks for posting this.

Peter Asher sure got Americanized over the years, hence his VERY vague English accent.
