Seen Ash in various lineups about 25 times over 30+ years. Not sure about the whole mk 1 v mk 2 debate. They are just great in all guises, although LW was my favourite guitar player. Best gig ever in my life was Ash at Bath Pavillion on the Just Testing tour (1979?) with LW. That was awesome. Like so much Ash, it sounds better live. "Doctor" the opener was fantastic & LW was incredible & Steve Upton was jaw dropping.
Just wish they would re-release live dates vol 2 on cd! I met AP outside t
I just thought only the current Generation of Computerjunkies are up to forget anything about right typing and it's grammar..., you guys must be more than 50 years old and got no matter of about the word you were writing here?!
There are two versions of Wishbone Ash doing the rounds - Martin Turner's version and Andy Powell's. A pity a once great band has splintered like this - much prefer Andy Powell's version though
...and there are many that prefer Martin Turner's version - he does, after all, constitute two main elements of the band he formed - the bass and vocals.
The two versions of WIshbone are a bit like Dave Gilmour being billed as the guitar and voice of Pink Floyd, and Roger Waters being the creative genius. Both play Floyd songs but neither sound the same without the other one, Comfortably Numb being a good example of this. Really the only Wishbone Ash was the original consisting of Ted Turner, Andy Powell, Martin Turner and Steve Upton. They were untouchable in their day, and both versions of the band are pale imitations of a once great force.
20/20 !
