@pawpawnorth why is a main transport route in the middle of a city not busy at off peak times? at least for a 6 car service every 5 min? Do people use public transport or what?
@nasansia I believe it was very early in the morning when I took those ... it's fairly quiet then. It gets more crowded later in the day, especially during the morning/evening rush hours, when people are going to work. Then it's standing room only, though not nearly as bad as the Japanese sardine-packing trains.
@nasansia The purple line generally runs two car trains except during the morning & afternoon commutes when 6 car trains are mixed in that run all the way to the loop.
I took the "L" for the first time since I came here! The red line from grand to cermark and it was fun! But only if can I get a cta connection from Waukegan then I would go to Chicago almost every day!!!
@DaveJLin Metra is kind of slow you know, last labor day I waited 2 hous for the train and when came downtown chi-town there tons of cta bus & rail. Cta is more rapid than rta btw that something I have deal with. I just wondering if their a connection to the cta but thanks anway! :D
@rippen100 you got your stuff messed up, RTA own CTA,pace, and Metra. CTA comes more frequently, as Metra is more of a scheduled system, as CTA is just wait for it to come, and there are no free Metra-L connection, but there are close stations (Ogilvy-Clinton on the Green Line), (Union Station-Clinton-Blue Line), Lasalle Station-Lasalle-Blue Line), and Millenium (Randolph-Wabash, Purple Line Express, Brown, Pink, Orange, Green)
@pawpawnorth Lol! calm down all I just sayin was cta is faster and better than pace & metra and there was some way to catch it from waukegan that's what I meant from "connection" but thanks anyway!
@DaveJLin Yes you totally should. I would very well enjoy it. And this was a cool video, I was just expecting to see how it would look if you pointed the camera out towards the window :)
what the CTA Train and Subway should do is announce what destination they'll arrive because what if someone is reading the newspaper and didn't pay attention to the stop
@funnykidyyz Do you mean while riding inside the car? Yeah, there's an automated announcement that alerts which stop the train is at. You can hear, "This is Dempster. Doors closing," in the video. They also announce what is the next stop after departing the last one.
@Linguistmm44 At the time I took the video, between Linden and Howard, there's actually 2 kinds of Purple Lines during the peak hours, one that only goes between Linden and Howard, and one that goes all the way from Linden to the Loop (and back). The two-car trains run just between Linden and Howard (not all the way to the Loop), since relatively few riders need just this local service during peak hours.
A train with only two cars at the beginning of video? I can't think of two many subway lines around the world where you'd see only two cars in a train.

@Dinosbacsi There's lots of nicknames ... such as "the El," which stands for "Elevated," since portions of the track are elevated above street level, especially in the downtown Loop area.
I took this Purple Line all the time when i was staying at the Best Western at Dempster. They're pretty fast on time, especially the Express ones. BUT Union Station is cunt fest, everyone we [my friends and I] talked to was a complete dick about everything FYI
The Purple Line is a very short run from Howard Station up to Wilmette. The video was taken early in the morning, and the train was north-bound (against the traffic into the city).

These red line trains are undercompensating.
1 2-car set? Shame on the CTA, they should take some lessons from the NYCTA/MTA

Since when do they run two-car trains during off peak on the purple line? It's been a while but I remember it used to be four.
