i recieved this game on my birthday, and ever since then i have beaten it every year on my birthday haha! great memories, a game that defined my childhood and a franchise i will continue to love and remember:)
Holy Crap! I just realized Im one of the top comments from over a year ago lmao. Props to everyone who listens to this soundtrack and loves it! I can still remember almost every area that a particular sound track plays at
@TheBazman111 And you are just anothe rperson who wants more mind numbing explosions rather than something with storytelling and gameplay. Enjoy your COD. I'm gonna play something heartrending.
@hollowsephiroth no I hate cod with a passion as well medal of honour and battle feild but the story in this is a load of shit play horribly and is not heart rendering at all because the charaters have got no deph to them or make you want to care about them this is one of the most overated series ever along with zelda and final fantasy apart from 7 and castlevania is shit also konami just do not make good games never had.
@TheBazman111 And next you're gonna say that Mario is the worst platforming game ever made. Sorry to accuse you of playing COD, that was my mistake. I guess to each his/her own, since I don't know your gender, I'm not gonna guess. Good day sir/madame.
@hollowsephiroth would not say it is the worst platform game mario most definetly and certainly is very very overrated I will tell you what is my favorite game of all time jointly between streets of rage 2 and suikoden 2 witch I know is a konami game but is the best game they ever made.
Oh man, I would love to replay this whole game with the engine of MGS4 on the PS3, that mission when you return to Shadow Moses really got me stunned visually. It would be a wet dream for me. MGS1 was awesome
I don't see why I got a -2 for my comment, considering that I, too, have a right to my opinion. MGS4's cutscenes were WAY too long. This game is great, and so were MGS2 and MGS3. But MGS4 was just too much. I can see why diehard fans like it, but diehard fans might not have what it takes to look at things critically.
Well, first of all, you have got it completely wrong (and you spell incorrectly). I love a good story in video games. I NEED a good story in my video game. Grand Theft Auto IV, Half-Life, Monkey Island, Mass Effect, you name it.
I completely understood the plot in MGS4, but it was still horrible. The melodramatic japanese nonsense dialogue was so bad that none of my friends wanted to play it, so I'm not alone. The cutscenes were way too long. I don't just "run around killing", thank you.
I love the theme tune, esp loving the keyboard synth section. I heard Konami no longer has the rights to this original tune, so all of their tunes afterwards have been derrivatives of this rather than the actual tune... anyone else hear about this>?
I agree whole-heartedly. I have always thought that the two soundtracks sounded awfully similar (especially the main themes from each). If you go to my channel, my latest video is a video I cut of the two soundtracks mashed together. Enjoy!
My wife is a gamer too. During the lunch reception, nothing but instrumental, lounge, and/or jazzy remixes of video game songs played. To the average person, it all sounded like elevator music. However, the other gamers in attendance were like, "WTF??? Hey... Chrono Trigger! Halo! Mario World!"
i was thinking about that the other day. i teach yoga classes & i play soothing remixes of donkey kong, mega man, chrono trigger, & other games in there. unfortunately, nobody knows what they are. i still play them though :)
:( times like these i wish the story was still going.
one of those games that will be remembered probably forever.
but i have a wierd feeling somethings going to happen, history will repeat itself, and solid snake will have his corpse reserrected and placed into a cyborg ninja suit...which would be freakin badass
Maybe somebody can help me out, but I can't remember the Main Theme anywhere in the first Playstation game. In fact I don't remember anything like it until the title montage in MSG 2. Does it exist in the game, or was it just something they added to the soundtrack?
Every time i hear this music, its pushes the adrenaline level up and at the same time, its kinda haunting and its something you never forget. I still get goosebumps when facing psycho mantis and when facing REX. A legendary game with legendary music. thx for posting.
i don't recall ever hearing that MGS theme while playing the game...i remember once when i beat it the song during the credits changed to something different but i could never get that to happen again...maybe it was this song...i don't remember...
The Best is Yet to Come as sung by Aoife Ní Fhearraigh really mixed well with the story, BGM, and sounds of MGS. I used to beat this game over and over just to listen to The Best is Yet to Come. I eventually bought the soundtrack as well as one of Aoife's CDs. She's a great singer! The game itself was so original and fun for its time. There were so many twists and turns throughout the game that really made it an unforgettable adventure. Thanks for posting this!
You are absolutely correct. I am more partial to this one as it seemed to have longer streams of game play. MGS2 always felt like 5 min of gameplay and 20 min of story. However the gameplay it had was GREAT! On the other hand the Psycho Mantis fight in MGS1 was probabally one of the most clever fights I have ever played in a video game.
You are absolutely correct. MGS2 felt too much like 5 min of gameplay and 20 min of story to me. I liked the longer gameplay sequences of this one. Also when it comes to way too cool things in video games, the Psycho Mantis fight was second to none.

It's "The Best is Yet To Come"
Quite possibly the most beautiful piece of music ever to grace video game history.
I wept when it replayed in Metal Gear Solid 4 when Snake revisits Shadow Moses.

another good thing about MGS1 was the fact that the story, though crazy, had not completely gone off the deep end like in MGS2
strake001 2 years ago 2
The story itself isn't as crazy as people make it out to be, it was the way in which it was presented that made it seem weird

The good old days. At least in MGS1, the length of the cutscenes was still handled properly. MGS4 is just horrible. Horribly overrated, at least.
But this just gets me nostalgic. I'd say this is the second best Metal Gear game (after Snake Eater).
