  • When did this song come out? 1983? I was 5, totally addicted to watching MTV (thank you Dad for letting me), and this was always one of my favorites. This & Rosanna by Toto.

  • If I just found a guitar & picked it up and played it, someone would probably kill me with it just so I would stop, Lol!

  • @townkevin59 Unless you played this song like a boss.

  • I love this song. I remember once, I was in surgery and the doctor asked me what radio station i listened to and this song was playing before I fell asleep.

  • bryan adams is a helluva rock n roll icon for sure.......he's def an original rock star at it's finest with love tunes and rock n roll.

  • Lady Ga Ga meets Brian Adams....

  • Isn't this a younger Green Goblin, singing?

  • is that a butterfly knife that he used?

  • Perfect

  • I'm wondering how they worked out the whole apple peeling thing altogether, Was Bryan Adams just like "Okay guys i'm going to peel this apple i think it would connect with people" xD

  • @marcus1548 ha ha! thats hilarious!!!!

  • @marcus1548: Haha. Being a true Gen-X'er myself, and remembering watching MTV the first week it came out, I can tell you, this video is symbolic of just that exact nonchalance..."hey, then I'll drop the apple and THEN grab a guitar". Videos were low budget and still cool. signed--Born in 1970.

  • @marcus1548 Can't do much on a budget of a dollar and a half! LOL!

  • @shempbatt He's Canadian, this was probably considered big budget for a Canadian video at the time

  • @plusone19 Flock of Sea Gulls had girls dressed in trash bags and other groups were doing "star wipes" & Colour distortion filters! No one did any big budget vids till Thriller back then.

  • Classic stuff. I love this song.I had such a crush on this girl...

  • Still have the cassette and remember blowing speakers in university (and a few brain cells hahaha) to this song.

  • Gracis Youtube por que todavia no lo has borrado.

sigammos disfrurando el video de los 80's.

  • I still play this cassette I bought in the early 80s. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

  • I think this band is the only good thing to come out of Canada myself. takes me back to the years of joy. now's it's only bill's and more bill's. how the fuck did this happen? I sound like my dad most day's. Damn!!!!

  • Has anyone ever heard Bryan Adams' speaking voice? I've been listening to his music for years, and I have no idea what he sounds like when he talks!

  • One of his best songs!

    Timeless & classic!

  • Damn, I'd do anything to have grown up in this era. Why can't it all just come back?!

  • people say that often. there was some good music, but there's alot of great music out there now. basically radio has lost it's credibility these days, so you have to do some work. my first show was the Clash, very lucky, but I am so stoked to see Andrew Bird or Beirut, or I dunno. Love it now.

  • I'm from this era, too. Damn, it makes me feel old, but we sure had some ass-kickin' music back then! I still wanna know who that spankin' beautiful babe was in that video! A man never gets too old to appreciate good looks!

  • @Morganizer why thank you for that, i didnt know how to play this song, thanks for the tabs. But i do know how to play guitar. Ive played Living on a Prayer an Summer of 69 in two different talent shows so far. and The best song i can play is Panama-Van Halen. You can check out Panama on my channel, i do guitar tutorials. If you have a suggestion please feel free to leave a comment on my channel and Subscribe :)

  • I'll tell you, the 80's were a time of great hopefulness. In the midst of the cold war, and rising awareness of environmental degradation, people had vision that things could be different. All those asymmetrical haircuts and kooky fashion statements were expressions of that hope. Now constant change has become the norm, and people accept that there's nothing they can do except go along for the ride. And that's reflected in the music. You can't write 'different' pop songs without that hope.

  • Any excuse to hose down the model.

  • I also grew up during the 80's and it was AWESOME!!!!!! I didn't think that the 80's would make such a HUGE come back. You see alot of the clothing trends kinda look the same as when we were younger. They only thing missing is the Swatch Watches. It just goes to show that we definetly lived in a kick ass era. Well next to the 60's from what I understand.

  • The bass player has some weird humpin' goin' on there.

  • feels so right:)

  • I grew up with this awesomeness. Lots of weird ass low budget videos were made in the 80's. These videos had little or nothing to do with the song, but that was o.k. because at least you got to see the band. These videos sold a lot of records for the artists. We need more M in the MTV and more V in the VH1 so more people can discover or rediscover this era in music. Fuck the reality t.v. bullshit.

    -exit soap box

  • @clownsfartconfetti And all of these videos had at least one thing in common: beautiful girls. There was always some sexy, scantly dressed girl somewhere in the video. This is a classic example. By the way, I don't know who that girl is, but she's one the hottest girls from those 80's videos.

  • @clownsfartconfetti Thats what I'm talking about !

  • has anyone else noticed that in like all his videos he miraculously finds a guitar picks it up and plays it?

  • @xxbammxd Cause, he's the boss! :D

  • @TheShrewCat no no no nothing against Bryan Adams but thats Bruce Springsteen he is "THE BOSS" and my all time favorite artist

  • Jim Vallance helped co-write a lot of Bryan Adams hits, as well as some Aerosmith, and BTO songs.

  • 2 things:

    1. I wish i grew up with this stuff

    2. This is what i want, to write songs, get a record deal, and bring this stuff backk, now i know it wont happen for a while since im only 14, but that would be AWESOME, i would listen to justin bieber if he wrote this kinda music, hell, id pay big bucks to see bieber front row, backstage pass if he wrote and played this kinda music

  • @superstickysid hey I want to bring this back too, we can do it!

  • @superstickysid I learned how to play guitar, and a lot about songwriting by listening to Bryan Adams. It's really accessible for a beginner, and a great education. I'll help you with this one: put a capo on your first fret, to get in the same key (producers like to tune the band up a 1/2 step to make the vocalist reach). Chords are D G A, and the fourth one is Bm. (I remember panic every time that one came around -- but you'll get it!)

  • this guy really has a lot of hit songs...

  • After a lot of searching: the video features the beautiful Lysette Anthony - as claimed by "Jeff" from Liverpool on songfacts and confirmed in the IMDb.

  • Where did the 80s go?

  • i sang this when i was at the hospital with a chainsaw injury! ;)

  • @Bjoernebandt you must be a canuck :)

  • this is one of my favorite songs all time

  • This video brings me back 30 years ago and I still love the song. Indeed, some things do not change.

  • It's a little high pitched.

  • Wow, he is soo young here.

  • 43 people like That Faggot Justin Beiber and have NO idea what good music is :|

  • Straight Up ROCK and ROLL..A man and his guitar...the way things should be

  • 0:24 epic drugged out skinny guy

  • At about 1:04 he looks like David Spade.

  • Bryan is the best!

  • God, was I twelve when this came out? January of 1983? Yes I was! I'm 41 now! It's depressing and sort of cathartic at the same time.

  • @jaleach123 Did you have a crush on the girl in the video?

  • nice era it brngs back to me a lot of memories

  • Something that surprises me is that nobody has stepped up to upload the opening track to this album (Cuts Like A Knife), The Only One. That is shocking to me. It's my favorite BA song, by far. Opens the record perfectly.

  • @dakjargen I prefer the source-song Lonely Nights.

Another gem that is hardly played is Don't Leave Me Lonely. It was co-written by Kiss' Eric Carr. A version of either will do.This is the 20th death anniversary of EC, dying on the same day as Freddie Mercury. RIP to Freddie Mercury and Eric Carr.

  • @WineSippingCowboy Yeah Don’t Leave me lonely is good, but I ruined this record when I was a kid. My favorite song Bryan Adams song then, was This Time. I liked it then, but now, I’m not a fan because I have a station here that has been playing it every day for the last 7 years. I heard Cuts Like a Knife in it’s entirety on our rock station about 5 years ago, and I struck me how good The Only One is. It's my fav.

  • Damn... nice.

  • Totally agree !!! And it was also the time that Bryan Adams made good music ...

  • The Justin Beiber Har Cut Of The 80's!!

  • Hi there... this song was so great!!! If someone who can upload its video karaoke version then it would be so much appreciated.... Also, "Do i have to say the words", "It's only love", and "Rescue me" karaoke. Thanks

  • It feels GREAT when Bryan Adams sings it! ^^

  • i remember seeing this for the first time thinking pretty cool song. Never thinking I would still be singing it with the same enthusiasm some 30 years later at midnight. A great song is a great song forever.

  • Yeah MTV used to play cool music videos from the 80's when they started up. Now they do not show any music videos. It is all nigger rap noise and stupid "reality" shows full of niggers and white women. I would not even let my dog watch that channel now. What happened to MTV? Fuck them, both channels are worthless.

  • Bryan adams owes his career to me.When i first heard this song,i said he would be a one hit wonder.Really glad i was wrong.

  • When it comes to my ex, I can't help but think that it felt like he cut me like a knife.

  • This video was porn for me when I was a kid

  • Was 80's music ALL good, or just the part I listened to?

  • @bangwezl IMO most of it was pretty good.

  • @ozzyhead73 Yep you could listen to all genres of music back in the 80s. It was all good!

  • @ozzyhead73 I totally agree, I grew up in 90s, great songs with a meaning and for something to think about, now all the songs are about bling blig, bitches and drugs. i feel bad for young genaration, they get miss guided.

  • @ozzyhead73 don't forget the Thing That Shall Nt Be Named *HINT it's last name starts with Bei and ends with Ber*

  • My sentiments exactly.. SHS854EVER,,,,,, I miss those damn days....

  • Why do his best songs feature him wearing a leather jacket in the video?

  • @ClockingDoubt This video was featured in his Reckless VHS video collection. I would not want this song on Vevo because sometimes when they post videos, the volume is low.

  • So where's the Bryan Adams VEVO version of this song. You know, the HD one. This looks like a camera job off the TV.

  • @ampaholics This video was featured in his Reckless VHS video collection. I would not want this song on Vevo because sometimes when they post videos, the volume is low.

  • @Supersweetguy Sorry, wrong reply. To reply to your real question. Maybe he feels great when he wears a jacket for this song.

  • Van Halen's "When It's Love" (with Sammy Hagar) kind of rips off the last minute of this song.

  • Awesome song and artist!

  • Bryan hit #15 in Billboard, 8-6-83. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • @DaveWollenberg It would have gone to number one if he was better known back when this song was released.

  • The epic and forever supreme-reigning 80s. HELL yeah.
