I worked at this restaurant in college, they had a gigantic "Hamburger Steak". It was really a gigantic hamburger w/o the bun. People ordered it. It was like a pound of hamburger cooked into a patty and put on a plate for like $8, you know how much ground beef you could buy and cook at home for $8, A LOT!
Are you fluent in Japanese, or does your wife know English? I've always wanted to work abroad but then the idea of being alone without knowing anyone because of the language barrier is pretty scary. =(
Has anybody mentioned, or do you know, that the name of the restaurant, Bikkuri Donkey, means 'surprised donkey' in Japanese? Pretty awesome name for a restaurant.
The dish your wife got looked pretty darn good. I would love to try something like that. And great ending clip of your little boy. I sense a future charmer with the ladies there!
@CrazyMetalKidd ha! this happens to me every once in a while that I see a user Im used to see commenting on another channel, its cool! If you go to my channel page you'll see I have many foodie friends in my box. So many in fact that I have to alternate some people because theres only 16 spots! I like Kevin because hes canadian like me and I love the insights of someone from here on japanese things.
I like the decor of that restaurant! I wish you showed more of it, but maybe the other customers don't want to be videoed.

That reminds me the time when I was in Germany and went to a Tex-Mex restaurant. Lots of fusion going on. :)

May I ask what the music in the background is? It sounds like a guitar playing, but it's kind of faint.

Bikkuri Donkey is much better than the other family restaurants... but also a bit more expensive. During the spring they had peach beer.
aguyinkansai 6 months ago
@aguyinkansai They had organic beer when I was there, but I didn't try any :( Should have.

Actually, the logo kind of makes me want to go there. Probably the child in me that says it must be a cheerful restaurant.

It's funny how you say "not bad" then show the plate with not even a noodle left. It must have been delish and great view as well.
