I use hs-45's in some of my smaller planes and they work great. The only trade off for the light weight and strength is they are a shade slower than the 55/56's.
I'm actually using HS 45's in RCpowers new schoolbus- a perfect match of size and durability for that plane! (IMHO)
Yes, I have looked at those and am trying so new servos from YardBirdRC as well. I am using alot of Hs-65s now to... same general idea though, strong reliable servo with good gears.
Great Info Dave !!! Thanks

In all fairness to HS-55's I'd like to post an advantage:
All those inexpensive disfunctional/ stripped/ worn servos could make good BALLAST. (lead is getting pricey these days) lol

Good points, but you missed a couple:
6) HS 56 servo arm has ball bearing. Not that one would ever get an HS-45 to last long enough for that to matter. . . which brings me to point 7
7) HS-56 gears (karbonite) have better wear characteristics than nylon.
8) HS-55 "BBZZZZZZ BZZZZZZZZZ BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ" (SOUND FAMILIAR?) The damn things can't center, even with no servo arm attached.
