  • cool vudeo

  • look at teh poopeth

  • I have a m & f cockatiel. The female sits on the eggs (5) for most of the day (except to come off of them to eat), but at night after I cover them, she gets off the eggs until the next morning when I uncover their cage. The male never sits on the eggs and she chases him away. I candled the eggs this morning (11/30) and saw little veins on 2 of the eggs (1st layed on 18th, 5th on the 26th). Since they get chilled overnight from no one sitting on them, will they still hatch?

  • @whitehorse607 Cockatiels have a sense of when and how much to sit to keep the eggs at the proper temperature to develop and hatch. Since you are able to see veins within the eggs (a sign they are developing), it sounds like they are doing things right. Give it time, put lots of food in the cage, and let them have some space to do their job. They'll likely reward you. =]

  • @dk22033 thanks so much for the quick reply. I was so worried that it would be too chilly. I'd like to hand feed them, so I'll be busy getting my "nest" supplies ready too. : )

  • i had a chuckle at this tbh when i saw the chick pull its head back into the she all that sprung into my head was"NO NO, I changed my mind, I don't wanna, it's cold out there"

  • I have a question too... What do they eat on those 11-14 days while waiting to be hand fed? Or they don't eat at all at this period from hatch until first time eating?

  • @8i680085 They eat whatever the parents have consumed and then fed to the babies (here it is a nutritious mix of seed, pellets, and fresh foods). Most importantly, the parents are also build up the babies' immune systems by transfer (the same ways human babies who are breast fed get their immune systems developed).

  • nov9.that wouldve been a good birthday gift:)

  • awe how cute. she must be very tired after 8 hours of thatl

  • so nice of you to help the little guy!

  • would you please answer this question?

How long should we wait before we can feed them for the first time?

what does the first food consist of? Is it a mixture of cereals or a liquid ?

    Thanks.

  • Cockatiels are usually pulled for handfeeding around 11-14 days, just as their eyes are opening. They are fed on a defined schedule a baby parrot formula until they wean (at about 8 weeks). You will need more than just handfeeding formula and a syringe to raise babies though - temperature (to a set degree) of the formula is essential, as well as maintaining appropriate temperature in the brooder.

  • when they hatch at what age can you sell them as in weeks after they hatch cause my frinds hatched today and is going to give it to me but i dont want it too young that it can die because i had a quaker but it died after 10 years so yhea we got it when it was 4 weeks old so plzz reply quick

  • @DeadPool2995 They wean around 8 weeks on average. Some can take longer, depending on the 'encouragement' they get from others in the clutch. Monitoring the weight as feedings are reduced/eliminated is the best indication.

  • is it hard to raise a cockatiel??i'd like to try to raise one..but i have 2 cats in my house :(

  • There is a lot involved with rearing parrots. They need very special conditions to grow up strong and healthy.

  • did he/she survive ?

  • Yes she did survive, and if you watch the other videos you will see her as she grew up and weaned. She's now 3 years old.

  • good job

  • Aw! Welcome to the world little cute thing!

  • Beutifle! this is life

  • you know when to do the right thing :)

  • that is so cute!

  • wheres momma ?

  • The mom was in the nest box sitting on the other eggs in the clutch. They don't help much when a chick gets stuck in the egg. That's why we stepped in to help

  • omg same thing hapened.i saw my cockatiel coming out of the egg so i helped it out.now its the nicest bird i have

  • How long does it take for the cockatiel to hatch, and how do i get them to hatch

  • It's about 18 days from the date they are laid until they hatch. It's better you leave them alone and let the parents and nature do the work.

  • So sweet :) Thank you for sharing. I'm patiently waiting for my 2nd to hatch. It's already peeping inside the egg.

  • What a wonderful video. I have watched all your videos; your birds look so healthy and happy. :)

  • I wouldnt assist hatching if I were u. If a babybird can not get out of the egg, he is too weak to do that for some reason. And incase u didnt know, they should get out by themself. There is also a huge possibility that after the hatching, he isnt getting better and stonger. So u are assisting a sick and weak baby. I know numerous situations where a person comes up to me and asks "I assisted the hatch and now the parents arent feeding it! How can I make them do it" And u cant. They know.

  • While most people shouldn't assist - unless they know what they are doing (and what to do next), this little chick not only made it out and weaned, but was two years old in October (and bringing a lot of joy to a very special family).

  • I just had to do the same thing with my newest baby cockatiel, it was such a precious thing to watch, she was number 5 and the parents quit feeding, it is a very precious thing to watch!

  • um what the heck was that yellow thing in the beginning of that vid

  • You may be referring to the siblings of the chick hatching. During part of the assisted hatch, we brought the siblings in. The sounds and contact can give some reassurance for the hatching chick to keep up the fight. It's a delicate process that cannot be rushed, and we try to make it as close to natural as possible.

  • That poor thing must have been exhausted!

God Bless You for helping the precious baby!

  • You are saints.

  • GOD BLESS U

  • very nice video I just got a pair of cockatiels I have had lots of lovebird babys but never helped any hatch. I have my old friend Moe here with me now he is a pet cockatiel and he just loves me sings to me and everything

  • Aww bless the little darling. I freak out when my little 'tiels are hatching. They usually manage on their own though... Its still scary when you have to help them out. But its so rewarding when they grow up healthy and beautiful. You do a good job <3

  • Beautiful video, amazing. We have 4 of these birds, one baby was born yesterday I posted a video on utube. Thanks for the video and for loving birds, Gods bless you.

  • aaaaaaaaaah that is so cute i have a cockoutil like you and its a male i havent desided to get a female cockutil yet do you think i should

  • I have two love birds and they said at the pet store they were girls so i named the milley and sissy so we saw them do it then we said there are boys and girls they had eggs and so i named they boy nikki the eggs did not hatch but they had more the birds chewed the bottom of the nest and they craked and they were real but they had more and they hatched it was soo cool they had even more so we had six birds we gave them up and kept two babys gave the others to a pet store my birds are love birds

  • Simply amazing! Such a beautiful thing. I have my cockatiel Sydney. She's a pearl. I had alot of problems when I came back from Iraq and I rescued her from a crap ass situation, and so she got me through the hard times. How hard is it to wean the babies? Im sure its nearly a fulltime job

  • i wish i would of seen my babies hatch! i knew my lovebirds had eggs but i didn't think they would hatch, then one day i heard a tiny chirp. they have three babies and one egg still. i ope that last egg hatches!

  • I would be scared to do that. I always think newborn animals are too senstive to be touch.

  • Babies are very fragile, and any assisted hatch should be performed by someone with experience. If we had not helped in this case, this baby would have died. Rayne is now 14 months old and doing quite well.

  • I have had to help several chickens hatch out, sometimes they simply run out of energy and die in the middle of hatching, so I sometimes help. It is such a long and tedious process.

  • how do u know if ur cockatile is pregnet??? cuz mine has been mating and am not sure if i should get the nesting box plz help

  • Please visit our website and use the "contact us" page.

  • How would you open the egg a little bit in the assisted hatch?

Also why not just break the whole egg and get it out of there quickly?

  • Assisted hatches are a very delicate process. Normal hatches take place over several hours, and when you assist, you follow the same timetable. The baby has a yolk sac attached which is providing nutrients while in the egg. while hatching, that sac is being absorbed into the body. The chick needs the protection of the egg until the sac is completely absorbed (to prevent rupture).

  • how come the egg is so small like a budgie's... isnt a cockatiel significantly bigger than a budgie which means its eggs should be bigger than budgie's as well. :)

  • You can see the difference between a tiel and a budgie on djfeathers . com (then go to the cockatiel nursery page, top photo). Budgie eggs are just about the center size. Maybe you are thinking cockatoo?

  • hehe, im not sure. budgie is the only parrot specie im familiar with cos its the only ones i kept. hehe... thank you so much for your info. i appreciate it.

  • I had to do that once, You did a great job! Beaut bird!

  • loves you guys!

  • So cute! I have a perfect little cockatiel named Zazoo :]

  • Isn't nature just wonderful!

  • I have 6 cockatiels. One breeding pair. Hand feed babies once they turned three weeks old but I never had the honour of seing or attending to their hatching. This is an awesome video. How exausting it must be for the little ones. Thank you for sharing this video.

  • How beautiful!
