Dale, you are quite the virtuoso! i grew up listening to and singing most all of these hymns you play so well. i still play and sing them to keep me somewhat sane in this wild world. by chance do you do "how great thou art" or "the old rugged cross"?
i'll have my post coming soon i hope.(but ya gotta promise not to laugh) lol
hey Denny - how are you my friend! I grew up with these as well - i dont' have arrangements yet for the two you suggested but I'd sure like to, maybe one of these days! Looking forward to your post!
Wow, this is awesome!! I love Christian music on the guitar! I am out of songs to play in my church! Do you know where I can get this, and other hymns, in tab? You are doing great here keep it up! Thanks!!
look up Craig Dobbins - he has a great publication that is a great place to start, he is located in Ala. I sure appreciate you watching and thanks for your kind words!
leeper55 is correct about the learning curve on this. There is no shortcut for guitar instrumentals. Analyze, memorize, practice. Tabs are good but still require 'brain sweat.'
Nice work Dale. I think you represent a long forgotten and rare talent - making simple chord formations sound complex and sensational. That's learned by ear and not by tab. For those asking for tab, sit down with your guitar in hand and listen and watch his hands. The notes are there if you spend some time looking for them. There's no magic here, just all heart and soul.
Dale, I'm was just sort of surfing the net and found some of your songs. I have been trying to learn fingerpicking on christian songs, and your songs and picking are a real inspiration. I'm trying to find all the chords you're using in "Sweet Hour of Prayer", and an slowly getting there. I know the basic chords, (A,D,E) but the other ones I'm trying to master. I've been playing for quiet a while( mostly strumming ) and I guess I'm fair, but not "good". Thanks for sharing your talent.God Bless
Thanks so much for watching and I'm so glad to hear you are working this tune up! I really enjoy playing it at church, it also takes me back to a lot of great memories. Let me know if I can help in any way, all the best, dale.
How many guitars do you have and how long have you been playing? Just curious. Do you rememeber the name of the guitarist who was so popular here years ago now and was on television. It's slipped my mind. Americans once loved this kind of music.
I've been playing for over 30 years now - and I try not to count the guitars! I am new to YT tube so unfortunately I do not know the name of the guitarist - if you remember please share it withme - thanks for watching, dale.
Thanks for the feedback. I am also new here and it's great to find music and information not otherwise available. I'm sure some of your guitars are very nice. My father played and had some beatiful instruments over the years. He loved Gibson and those fire burst patterns. Wish I had kept them.
I am very blessed to have the instruments I have. I am not a collector and I play ever one of them. Sounds like your father had some very nice guitars, the older Gibsons are so special and I think a lot of us would could relate with you in wishing we had not let some of our guitars get away! Gibson burst are just the best.
Excellent arrangement! I was trying to figure out a standard tuning arrangement and this is the one that I am going to adapt for my own personal use.
