No, it is definitely the studio version. Hand clapping audio has been added, to make it look like it matches the audio, but the song played in this video is 100% the studio recording. Not live.
Excellant!! What a great job of mixing & matching to the music...and SOUND! Reminds of how 'hot' this sound these guys actually were back then!!! Thank you.
This is the Newport Folk Festival, ,and they booked these great acts from the mississippi delta.
FYI, the big moment in history is when Bob Dylan appeared at Fort Adams in 1965 playing an electric guitar ( a Fender Stratocaster) instead of an acoustic guitar, and it upset quite bit of his faithful fan base.
I have a fond memory of seeing Muddy Waters play at Rhodes-On-the-Pawtuxet in Cranston, R.I in 1977.
what a performance !!this is how you do it!!straight from the heart is the only way you can do it right !!!and wolf and the rest of the old timers knew that!!!
Wolf is amazing! And what a variety of people for the early sixties,it sure ain't Mississippi.Blacks, whites, heads, reds, some not knowing what to think,BUT ALL DIGGING IT BY THE TIME THAT HE IS DONE!!!!!!
I love the smiles, guy knew everyone loved him...

The audio of this video is a pre-recorded studio version.
Was the Wolf miming at that gig to his record - or is it just silent video footage with the record dubbed over more recently ?
snakehips81 8 months ago
@snakehips81 No way he was miming, it must be edited this way.
Would have loved to hear him live.

Wolf recorded it a couple times, as both "Howlin' for My Baby" and "Howlin' For My Darling." You can look it up.

Wearing a black suit as the hot sun shoots arrows of ultra rays down on him, but he just keeps on playing the blues and doesn't even loosen his tie.
