You can also find lines like water/sewer/electric underground with this method. My hillbilly dad and granny used to do this to find water and underground lines way before dig-safe.
We have a ranch in the mountains. I used the rods and found a place they dipped strongly-but this was the first time I ever tried this--the rods then kept crossing each other--What did this mean? i would appreciate any tips you can give me.
Yeah, except it doesn't work. All double-blind studies ever conducted have shown that dowsers statistically find water no better than random chance. If you don't believe me, I can refer you to some of them, and a video of one small study.
So you drill and find water. So what? As long as you keep drilling down, you'll eventually hit water sooner or later.
so if the distance, lets say is 5 feet, between the start of the rods moving to where they go straight or cross, that means you have to dig 5 ft deep before you hit water?
Anyone who finds water using this video could you please come back here
and tell us about it.I want to be sure people are having success with this method.

I heard that the best metal to make rods is brass. Is this true? Do you know which specific kind of metal works best (lets say #4 or #10)?

@Duluh
the metal type does not matter.long rods are easier and more sensitive.
Look at the ones in the video. One coat hanger per rod.

For some people the rods cross to show where water is.
For some people the rods spead apart in a straight line.
See video again.Walk away from the spot where they crossed and they should return to parralell.Get someone else to check your results.

It is best to use two people to check for water independent of each other.
Don't let the other person see the results. This way both should find
water with the rods and it should be the same place. This checks the
results.

@lego4978 actually most people can do this .It seems it is
a talent we all possess. But a small percentage of people can't
do it at all.I don't know why.
